I think it would be a good idea for Eidos to release to us a demo. Even if it is a small one and lasts only 15 mins, this would fill the void a little.
It would allow us to become even more eager for the game instead of being upset. This move on such a large delay can't be too good for us TR gamers. Since a demo wasn't planned, maybe Eidos should release one now. Who knows... maybe we all won't be upset if they do this.. what do you guys think? Common Eidos... temp us... give us a small demo! |

Delays like this happen all the time in the video game industry. It's no biggy. What I'm surprised about is that Core and Eidos were willing to abandon the pre-Christmas release and miss out on a major holiday cash-in. Perhaps this signifies that their mindset has changed a bit; maybe they are thinking more about quality now than quantity and money. They could have easily just released the game before Christmas and made a huge fortune on holiday shoppers. But they decided not to do this. Hmmm....

I thought the reason it is delayed is because the game wasnt up to scratch, and Sony put a block on it.Otherwise Core/Eidos would definately had it in the shops before christmas.

For clarification. Core Design are the developers. Eidos Interactive are the publishers. They also own Core Design. Core play little part in the promotion of AOD other than to supply POS/promotional media to Eidos and of course to develop the title.

Or maybe Sony decided to throw in some more money to tidy Eidos over until February. |

I'm very curious as to exactly what happened between Sony and Eidos - thing that have crossed my mind include :-
- Sony just simply didn't want to approve the game with a seriously reduced testing schedule - the whole game code wasn't even in a fully playable state for testing, albeit by a few weeks maybe or even - the game was finished, but Sony simply didn't like it : considering how important TR is to the Playstation brand and therefore Sony, it's possible that they were unhappy with the new 'darker' aspect of the game, or some other fundamental aspect. I'd love to know what work Core are doing between now and Feb - major code revisions? storyline/plot alterations? or simply finishing the coding and QC? Just my bit of speculation

We'll never know the answer to that. Ultimately we'll get to see the Feb version but never the Nov one. I don't mind a delay of 3 months. If it was 12 months I'd be mightily ****ed. 3 months though I can accept. A game can only get better with a delay. It can't get worse.

Is it true that Core knows way in advance that the game was not going to be ready by November 15th? Who sets the release date, Core or Eidos?

I think Eidos... Core (Design) just design the game and Eidos (Interactive) publishes the game...
