Need help before I "Abandon Hope"!

In the TLA walkthrough for Willard's Liar,
there is a section that says:

"Take the ammo and climb down again to Reach the first secret. Now climb back up and head over to the small
opening next to the sign 'ABANDON HOPE ALL YE WHO ENTER HERE.' Go into the small opening and once
you stand up, quickly turn around 180 degrees, jump and grab the ledge.

Climb up and do a backflip to grab the next ledge. Take the ammo on the left side, jump back and then forward
(You can also take the ammo below you if needed)."

OK, I do the maneuver of standing up, quickly turning around 180 degrees, jumping and grabbing the ledge. No problem. Then I climb up and do a backflip but the ledge behind me is too high to land on. It says to grab the ledge, how do you grab a ledge after performing a backflip (you are facing away from the ledge)?

I'd appreciate any help you might provide. I apologize in advance if you have already addressed this subject. Thanks.

all you have to do is when you do your backflip,push roll straight after you jump off and push action to grab hold of the ledge.(i don't have tla,what is it like?)

I'm not sure what you mean by "push roll straight".

I'm using a PC keyboard with the default key settings. Do you mean, after I do the backflip (ALT (jump) + down_arrow), I press the CTRL key (action) and Lara will twist around and grab the ledge that was behind her?

TLA is my first TR game so I don't have anything to compare it to but I thoroughly enjoy the game. It is definitely more fun having the walkthroughs. Normally I play a stage completely and then do it again using the walkthrough to get all that I missed the first time around.

If I compare this game to other games that I've played (I normally prefer role playing types), I like it for the story and the exploration. Hope this helps.

i'm sorry,i ment when you have jumped off of the ledge,make sure you make her roll in the air,and then you should end up faceing the ledge you want to grab and you can just push action and grab it.
does that make any more sense?

(for me roll is the 'end' button.)
heres what you press,in order-
your ready to do a backflip,push alt (jump) and the back button (to perform the backflip).as soon as you've done this press end (roll).then just before you miss the edge push ctrl (action) to grab it.

i don't think i can make any more sense so i hope you can understand it now.

I understand! I never realized that selecting roll (end) will cause that type of manuever with the backflip. I'll give it a try! Thanks!

I just wanted to let you know that I tried your tip last night and it worked great. After just a few attempts, I finally was able to grab the ledge that was behind me. Thanks again for helping me out.

Now here's a small tip that may make these combinations of manuevers a little bit easier.
-
According to the walkthough, beginning in the crawlspace, you need to do all of the following:

1) Hold Up arrow (to go beyond crawl area)
2) Release Up arrow (to stand up)
3) Hold Left (or Right) arrow until you turn 180 degrees.
4) Press and release ALT (jump)
5) Hold CTRL (action) and Up arrow while in air to grab ledge.
6) While climbing up, release CTRL and Up arrow and Hold ALT (jump), Down arrow, and END (roll).
7) While performing the backflip/twist, release all buttons and press CTRL to grab ledge.

All of the above must be done quickly before the spike ceiling descends too far.

You can see that there is much to do to get to the back ledge.

Here is my tip:

One part that I found difficult sometimes was turning 180 degrees quickly. If you over- or
under-rotate, when you jump you will be unable to grab the ledge. Instead of doing this, rotate 180 degrees while still crawling (the ceiling does not begin dropping until you are out of the crawlspace). After rotating, crawl backwards out of the crawlspace. This way you are already facing the wall you want to perform the grab ledge manuever.
