Default Graphics card upgrade?

Hi guys

I'm thinking about getting a new graphics card since my PC seems to be reaching its limits.

My current system is a Pentium 4 2.80GHz with 1GB RAM and a Radeon 9800pro (PCI). What would be a good choice for a new graphics card (preferrably supporting that darned Shader Model 3.0)? Would an upgrade even make sense? If yes, my budget is about $/€500 MAX.

Thanks!

Hi Mona. This is no PCI card, but a AGP card.
My advise to you: XFX GeForce 7800GS 256MB GDDR3 eXtreme, AGP8X € 352,00 and a new powersupply: Cooler Master Real Power 550W € 128,00 and you will be so happy!

Thanks Joseph. Are you sure about the Radeon being an AGP card?

Hey mona, for future upgrading it is best to get a whole new mobo, eg, motherboard that has the new PCI-E type slot, but you may need to get a new CPU though depending on what scoket yours is, do you have a socket 478 or 775 cpu?, anyway if you do not plan on any other upgrades for a while then go for the 7800GS, only decent AGP card that supports Pixel Shader 3, and for a power supply it depends on what type of case you are using as the possition of the power supply fan is vital, can have a pic of your case?.., a 480Watt or less power supply would be more than enough, I'd go for a TAGAN powersupply either the U22 series or U15 series depending on your case, so please post a pic..

Yes, I just bought a 480Watt Easycon, mainly for the modular, but nothing touches the Silverstone ST60F, with Quad 12V rails it's a beast, and at 40mm longer that most PSU's it's huge, if only it would fit in my case...
