According to play.com (http://www.play.com/Games/PSP/GENBRW...n/Product.html) the game will be released on 29/09/2006.
My thoughts: -> there is no time for a new engine, so it will use the Legend one, with some improvements. -> the game is being developed? I don`t think that. Why? I guess the game is already there, ready to be finished. Why? C`mon... It took 1-2 years or better for Legend and it`s hard to belive that Crystal Dynamics will make a new game so soon, in 3 months or so. So this anniversary one was made once with Legend. -> It will be a single game, both TR`s (1 and 2) will be remaked in one single game called "TR Anniversary Edition" on 2 DVD-s (for PC). There will be a lot of levels. -> I don`t know if the anniversary edition will be a success. Why? Although TR`s 1 and 2 will be re-edited we already know those levels and the feeling will be old... But, we`ll see....

CD have likely been developing the game for a while now, yes. I also don't think there's time for a new engine - but I'm hoping they'll tweak the legend one to allow her big jumps, among other things, and if they do 'remake' the levels then they'll alter stuff- they'll move things around, and change it so we don't instantly know what to do. Maybe.

If they do make it a double whammy with both TR's, then it will be double CD's for everything and not just PC, that would be plain harsh for all the console players. ITs gonna cost an arm and a lef if so

I shall concieve my first child with that in mind. ![]() I think one reason they may be remaking this game is so that they can attract a new audience with (what I hope will be) old TR magic. Sadly, there are video game snobs out there who wouldn't like to play with 1996 graphics (personally, I prefer those graphics...they're so old-school ^_^).

Is there ANY chance that CD will simply use the 80% finished game that Core apparently had in hand and just finish that?? Or maybe Core already finished it, for the most part, but was stripped of the game at the last moment. Maybe that's why Core had to be so hush, hush about all of this.
All I know is that the pirated screenshots/trailer looked VERY nice. Really got my blood flowing. It would be a shame to just throw an 80% completed game out the window IMHO. The only other scenario I could see was if BOTH Core and CD have been developing a TR1/2 remake at the same time, but CD's version won out for whatever reason. Otherwise, CD would not have had the time to make a remake in the matter of a few months. It would be nice to see a trailer or screenshots of the CD version of the remake. Could answer a lot of questions. |

Nah Teegunn, the Core developers got to keep their project, as it would look, CD are starting from scratch. It is indeed a shame that an 80% complete game like that wasn't allowed to be released.

Ooh. I must say, Rivendell, if that is true, I am very disappointed. The Core trailer really looked nice. I am very worried that CD will simply use the Legend engine, control scheme, and gameplay and ruin the remakes. Legend was NOT what the original TR games were. Almost complete opposites IMHO.

Ravindell I agree with you
Re-making the levels isn't that big a challenge actually I was playing TR today and the Peru levels really weren't all that long, but the Egypt levels are huge and would need some time for developing. I suspect Crystal already had any re-designs planned and original maps for all the levels laid out before they began, so it's really just a case of building the levels and adding those final touches The biggest thing would be the controls, are they going to add in auto-grab or not? will Lara be able to speed up her actions? can she swing from poles? If Crystal add these features in to the original design of the game I think it would take some serious amount of thought and effort to make it work. Personally I don't want any of that in the game but it all depends on Toby Gard - he is incharge afterall
