ATI Radeon 9200 better than NV GeForce FX 5500, but the amount of memory plays not the last role also. So it'll be better to buy ATI Radeon 9200 256 Mb (or even more)

Also another question...
Is there a way to find out if you have an AGP or PCI without opening up your computer?

They are both not fit for displaying the Sims 2 very well.
Dell Dimension 3000 is PCI-Express. So Alister, at the moment you are suffering Intel onboard graphics and you have seen that you need something better, a card that satisfies. And that is also cheap. Club3D Radeon X1600PRO 256MB DDR2 PCI-Express € 105,01 is the absolute minimum for your expectations. The Sims2 could run very well on my old Radeon 9700Pro, and this X1600 Pro card, however it only has a 128-bit memory bus as opposed to 256-bit on 9700Pro, is similar in performance with a faster GPU, GDDR2 memory and 12 pixelpipelines. But you are stuck with low resolutions, and this card can not keep up with the latest games, so if you are a gamer this investment is a waste. Better take the next card: Club3D GeForce 7600GT 256MB, GDDR3, € 175,00 This is THE card for your needs, best price/performance in the mainstream section. XFX GeForce 7600GT 256MB GDDR3 XXX, PCI-Express € 199,00 Last edited by Joseph; 31-07-06 at 15:29. |

You're right, laralives. I confused Dimension 3000 (intel 865GV chipset) with 3100 (intel 915GV chipset).
Dimension 3000 is AGP. Laralives, could you expand on: "Sims 2 runs perfectly", what graphic card do you have, or do you use the onboard graphics? What monitor do you use? What do you call perfect? I think Alister is interested.
