I use to win everytime in Quake 3 Arena... now I play like an old granny

I will probably make it for past 3...

lol ive played it on and off and well i always have played like a granny

and me being the daft stupid person that i am went through each server looking for the I.P not knowing you could just type in the I.P and it'll locate it

By the way, for people who are new to the game, I suggest you read this to help you connect to the game!

Basic settings :: Changing your name from the default

When you first load up the game, on the main menu, click on settings. Here you can configure what settings will work best for you, but the main priority is to change your name to people in game know who they ar playing against! Click on the "Player" tab at the top, here you can type in your name in the "name" box and choose which player you wish to be.

Conneting:

To join a UT server and you only know the IP address for it, you need to either connect using the console or using the favroites tab, don't worry, it really isnt as difficult as it sounds.

The Console Method:

The easiest way is to firstly copy this line of text (not including the " marks): "OPEN 86.140.186.135" (this saves you remembering it and typing it manualy later).
Secondly, you need to then load up your game. Once the game has loaded, press the ' button to load up the console (it may be a different key depending on the keyboard setup). When the console has popped up, just then press CRTL+V to paste the text that you copied earlier ("OPEN 86.140.186.135") and then press Enter. The game should popup a box asking for a password, just type in "chickenfingers" and away you go. The game should now connect and load the match.

The Favroite Tab Method:

An alternative (and probally easier for n00bs because it saves the details to you can connect again in the future easier) way of connecting is using the favroite tab. When the game loads, at the main menu, click on "Join Game". When the master server has been queried, all the tabs at the top should be avalivible. Click on the favroite tab at the top and right click in the empty blue space below. You should have two options, click on the one that says "Open IP". When the box pops up, type in "86.140.186.135" (without the " signs) and press Enter. The server then should appear in the list and just double click on it to connect. Type in the password and you are away!

Post here if you have any problems connecting; remember to configure your firewall/router also!
