View Full Version : T4 "Transmission" filming ( met the bands!)

I got offered some free tickets to see Channel fours "Transmission" being filmed Last night. Its basically a late night music show with various bands performing.

Went with some friends from Uni. Expected it to be a bit pants, but none of us were doing anything better and as it was filming in Cambridge which is only down the road so thought we may as well make the most of a free night out.

Boy were we WRONG about it being pants!! There were only about 50 people there as audience and 5 different bands playing.

Got into the venue and was given all the free drinks we wanted until they opened the set.

Because it was such a small audience it meant we got up pretty close to all the bands while they were performing and were given the opportunity to have a chat with them once they were done performing!

The set was broken up into 4 stages and an interview area. First of all the Hoosiers played their set which was bloody good, managed to get positioned right at the front. Despite being told on the tickets no photography was allowed, thought I would try for a few sneaky shots. The lead singer caught me taking pictures posed half way through his song! Afterwards he and the guitarist came back over asked if I would like and to get a proper photo!

We spent a while having a chat with Them, they are really friendly and down to earth, my friend Kym asked if he was playing at a club called " soul tree" in a few weeks as she works there and he said he was. Missed 2 of the other bands performing while we were chatting to them though!

Next went off to the main stage and saw Enrique Iglesias strut his stuff (YUMMY!) once again got a really good spot, and he was performing no more than about 5 feet in front of me, once again managed to get a brief chat with him when he was done performing.

Next we went to watch Enrique's interview over on the sofa. He made a comment about a strip joint in Cambridge, to which my friend decided to announce she knew where it was…Cue cameras panning onto us and Enrique asked if we worked there! Lets hope that bit gets edited out.

Finally saw the Gallows do there set, well part of it anyway, as one the guys from the Hoosiers turned up again, tapped Kym and me on the shoulder and asked us what the name of the bar was we had mentioned working at earlier and asked for our names. He got someone to write both down then asked if we would come along before the show there so he could buy us both a drink!

That was the end of the night got given Goody bags including t shirts, bottles of drinks, some free Sim cards etc.

Bloody worth the free ticket i nearly turned down!

Wasn’t allowed to use flash photography so everything is a tad blurry, but here are a few of my photos:

How cool, what a small world!

You local to cambridge?

21-09-07, 17:45
No, not local, but since I was asked to do this one instead of London (my first choice), I knew I could drive up there.

My first, pre-show blog is on their myspace page (http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendID=166431685&blogID=311638565), but am having trouble posting the post-show one.

Here are a few of my own snaps:
