I've been trying to finish up my summer review work for AP Government, and what should be the easiest question to answer, is taking forever!!

I spent 20 minutes online today looking for the answer, spent quite a bit of time looking through a lot of books, so I'm turning to the forum now! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif

Does anyone know what party dominated Congress from 1953-1980? Or know where I could find out? I'm tired of doing searches and somehow coming up with the Ottoman Empire......

Sorry Celli. I hate to admit it, But I am terrible at American history. I'm surprised that you can't find anything on the internet. Have you tried re-wording your search?

I've been trying on ask.com by putting "What party dominated Congress from 1953-1980?" And I've been trying on Yahoo by just typing US Congress 1953-1980, or Party Domination from 1953-1980. But nothing. :(

So close, but so far.....

I think its Democratic party. Here's the thing. My AP Gov't teacher was also my American Gov't teacher this year. She had her baby about two weeks early, and didn't have time to get anything organized for her AP students. She just left this worksheet for us with the sub, and said we didn't need to books. So I don't have an AP Gov't book to look in.

I'm taking AP History too this year, but there's nothing in my AP History book about party domination. I think it's the Democrats too, but I'm not 100% sure though.

You'd think this would be easier with only two possible answers to choose from! lol http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif ;)

Celli, it's really a wild guess, but I'd say the leading party was the Republican one. My friend Google found this web page about Alvin Bentley (http://www.angelfire.com/mi2/shiawasseeglass/bentley.html) -- I hope you can make something out of it...

Thanks for the link Kam. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif That yellow is so hard on the eyes though!

Luckily for me, my friend who took AP Gov't this year came online so I asked her. She thought it was the Republicans too, but she's going to double check for me, just to make sure. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
