Hi, everyone:wve:!

I had some thoughts how to edit this game. At the moment I work on a object editor. And don't say WOW because that isn't like the TRLE you know.
Yes it edits some parts of the game but not all. Maybe the Level Editor will be made in next months or years. Anyway if you are a good programmer or you know something about edit the game join the project! :)

In the project :
sasho648(I) (working)
Yuuto (working)

Programs we were made:
Collision Extractor (http://www.tombraiderforums.com/showpost.php?p=5652028&postcount=42)
Collision map position editor (http://www.tombraiderforums.com/showpost.php?p=5690368&postcount=56)

TUTORIAL:
To use these tools you need to download GmxTool (http://www.trsearch.org/Tools/GMXTool.zip).
Then you need to extract the tool at the DATA\MAPS directory in your TRAOD folder. Now start the command prompt direct to your extract tool directory then type "gmxtool -e" and then the file you want to edit. Now the tool will create a new folder with the filename of the selected file. Open it and in it you will see "characters","maps"."NODES" and etc. Now open the collision folder the *.col file inside is the file which the tools post here handle. After you edit the file you can create the gmx/clz file again with "gmxtool -d" 'select folder' command.

News*:
Here is a site I made which explains the RMX(*.col) files format.
https://sites.google.com/site/tombraideraodformats/

See the new TRAODRMX program: http://www.tombraiderforums.com/showpost.php?p=5871606&postcount=51 !

Any new people are welcome in the project!

Back in the day(03-04) Iused to always start threads like this on forums. I remember TRchronicles posting an article about a possible release of the AOD tools integrated with Maya Personal Learning Edition. At the time, Half-Life 2 and softimage free edition was a big deal. Too bad nothing ever happened. The only way we will get a level editor is if someone built it, which would take a lot of time and resources. I doubt it would happen without source code. At least with the older engine (TR1-5), much of the source code has been dug through and leaked by fans. AOD is far more complex than the old editor... I'm sure most of it was built in Maya with custom built tools. 3d modeling knowledge would be required. Would be cooltho!

Possible but the idea is that someone build a level editor. Because I can make that with Hex editor but in this case everyone will ask "how?".... Anyway at the moment I learning this language and maybe after some months or years the level editor will be made:D.

And something from me - those 3d files are stored like an archive in an one .map file which is compressed in the gmx/clz. Maybe you know the Michiels tool which extracts the gmx/clz files but not the map. files inside.

One image shows the last part of Tomb of Ancients in WorldEdit and the other image shows what look likes the beginning of The Sanitarium (but a bit different) in Maya. I've never seen them before, and I think they look interesting. Just thought I could post them here.

If you really wants to roll the ball, you should make public everithings you know about how to MOD AOD files; take the time to write a good document explaining everything in a clearly way, somthing like

http://www.tnlc.com/eep/tr/TRosettaStone.html

that was 12 years ago, and the guy who did it..did it in anonimus way!, he was not interested in the credits.

When the info is public availible, then people with programming skills will look at it and will decide if they can contribute or not, some of then will start testing your info, some will get some fun and will start building a small tool, then it will grow up and it will appear tools for moding textures, sounds, sprites, models, etc.

I am telling you this becouse i have seen it happen before; well know today mod tools like wadmerger, strpix3, meta2tr, (and whole lot unnoficial level editor and tools) etc, exist becouse info was availible for everyone who wants to try.

If you ever get some kind of level editor it will depend if you or someone else know enough info to mod everithing that is needed.

The way you want it to do it, in a secret way, where just you know the info and one programmer who will build the tools for you (becouse you dont have programing skill) and maybe signed and creditized with your name most likely will not happen;

^You're so right. Ok.
Now first you need to download gmxtool (http://www.trsearch.org/Tools/GMXTool.zip).
Then you need to extract gmx.clz files in data\maps folder(in this case prague2).
Now open the prague2 col. file from collision folder.
Then watch this presentation (http://www.4shared.com/file/HFV_ayn1/TRAOD_col.html?)(Open office) and the Power point version (http://www.4shared.com/document/7bnc1aEc/TRAOD_col.html?).
And see something(from Active Man project):

Yuuto build a collision extractor/injector with window vision. If you asking what is that I'll answer you but first lets get clear this program is oriented to people who can open a file with Hex editor without scaring. Now some history...

Maybe you know that Michiel made a simple extractor long time ago which can unclz files and then extract gmx file to small parts. This parts includes the maps, animations... but they include too a tomb raider collision which places the objects at the map. The collision includes a big parts which we'll call maps because each of them includes a map positions. Except the map position they include a arrays of objects. This tool extracts and injects this "maps".

In the secret part of the Parisian Backstreets, just the opposite of the Von Croy's Apartment, there is a big chunk of colisions that you can climb on or hide from the police. I'm wondering if you can somehow check in what shape exactly those collisions are formed. As well as those in the Sanitarium and Maximum Containment Area? Is it possible to make something like wireframe rendering but for collisions? And can you make some program that would allow people to change in saves Lara's coordinates? Both of these would help incredibly in checking hidden parts of the level.

You have my respect, brother.
Its the first time that I saw someone seriously attempting at something like this.
And I gratulate you to that ;)

Once again I got my hopes up for this, but this time it looks more promising than ever before. I am looking really forward to this.

So please tell me If I understood correctly:

- You can change the positions of various objects from one place to another
(and also from one level to another) ? If so than can you place these objects wherever you want or does your tool injects them automatically?

-Can you change now the collision of various objects?

-Is there any mesh modificiation possible now, no matter how little?

Anyway you have my help into this. Dont hesitate to ask when you need something :)

You should also work together ( or at least ask and get help) from various programmers out here like:

Sapper,Turbo Pascal,Michiel,Paolone,TheGreatChi etc.

I really am excited for this:D

^Very thanks for this words:hug:!

Before some hours I made a user friendly tool, again about .col files. With this tool you can edit the map parts positions. This tool uses a tree-view and it's more easy to use. For the moment the tool list only maps but I think in the near future will lists the objects positions too.

The maps in collision files are IDs which calls the 3d meshes - maps in the *.map file and set them positions. In each map are included objects which calls the other files in the gmx/clz archive and set them positions.

Sorry Caseum. About the statue - I was trying to find it many time before but I think it's deleted. Maybe in the future I will try again.

About the Parisian streets I can make a Lara position changer only if I extend my tool because the lara model and ani. are used in collision like the other objects. The wireframe rendering for the collision - I think that's used in TRAOD debug keys - f11 or f8 I don't remember. But anyway if it doesn't because I can't make a OpenGl app for now;).

It would be extremely helpful! TRAOD engine has already an option to show coordinates, we just need now the teleport command.

Unfortunately it doesn't work that way. It just shows meshes and objects wireframe, but not collisions(you can see that if you try to go to the closed section of the Sanitarium/Maximum Containment Area)

You can't open it directly. First, you have to open command prompt. Select "Run..." in the start menu and type in "cmd". Then click "OK".
Now you enter the path of gmxtool (f.e. "D:\gmxtool.exe"), a valid command (f.e. "-u" for uncompressing a gmx.clz, see the first post of this thread for other options) and the path of the file you want to extract/uncompress.

At the end there should stand something like:
"D:\gmxtool.exe" -u "D:\paris5_1.gmx.clz"

Download this (http://www.trsearch.org/Tools/9/). Copy the UnCLZ to your TRAOD\Data\Maps directory. Then copy the dlls(Zlib and Zlib1) in your Windows\System32 directory. Now drag the gmx.clz level you want to edit in the UnCLZ.exe. Now download TRAODMap (http://www.4shared.com/file/FVf_LAaD/TRAODMap.html) and copy it in your TRAOD directory. Open it, select level (*.gmx) and double click on one of the MapNodes. Edit positions and see the result;)!

I extend my tool and now it can edit the objects positions too (pick up items, doors, water nodes...). But the general function is that the program can edit char positions and displays their names. For example in paris1.gmx you can edit LARAD position, DOG postition and the police men. The program uses the RMX data inside the gmx and includes the ACTOR.db from the DATA folder. From that file the program gets the char names. I extend it again and now in the second version you can edit characters IDs. Here is a picture:

And download link (http://www.4shared.com/file/gNLjd9ze/TRAODLE_02.html).

Now download TRAODLE and copy it in your TRAOD directory. Open it and enjoy!

Judging from those values I see here, I guess you are reading floating point values as integers. The number 1065353216 has the hex value 0x3f800000, which if parsed as floating point actually is the number 1.0f.

That's what I thought, too. I have already told him and he changed it. The fixed version is nearly ready.

Probably the most n00b question you've ever heard, so please forgive me but would it be possible to iron out some of the bugs? In theory.

Great project I'm behind you guys all the way!

Thanks for replays! I fixed the position problem (that was discuss upper). Now they're floats, not unsigned longs like before. But I have the feeling there're other problems that I wasn't saw. That's way I'll be very happily if you posts about the problem or bug you saw in the tool! Here is a picture of the new version:

Run your modified level. Copy your TRAOD.exe from your TRAOD\bin folder to your TRAOD folder. Now run cmd and start the exe with the "-level=" command after it type the level name( for example "-level=data\maps\paris1" ).

http://img513.imageshack.us/img513/407/step6b.png (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/513/step6b.png/)

That is all, I think, to make your modified levels(note: this program edit only the objects\maps positions - NOT THE MAP MESHES!).
