Anybody have any psychological counseling, coaching, or... or cheerleading experience?

My problem is this: about a ton of paperwork stored over three years in a dozen or so battered cardboard boxes. All this wretched, boring (sometimes damned depressing) paperwork has to be sorted through and I've been putting it off long enough (last three years, in fact). http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/whistle.gif :(

And I didn't get much sleep last night so feel like a cardboard woman with raisin eyes.

Does anybody have any inspirational thoughts to get me started on this bloody job? http://www.tombraiderforums.com/m/i/funnysmilies/smiley_bored.gif

S'no good. I keep getting distracted (which takes effort, cos those boxes are prominently placed in the centre of our living-room atm). http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/whistle.gif

Maybe I'll just have some tea then go sort through them.

Ooh - look! A flying pig!!! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/mischievous.gif

Put on some music then go through the boxes. I'm a big procrastinator and music seems to help me get through the chores.

Paperwork, eh? Seems I always have extra paperwork to sort out, so I know exactly how you feel, Jiao http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/hug.gif Although I like putting things in order, in some cases those flames in the fireplace are so tempting... http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/whistle.gif

LC8290 - the best suggestion yet! Don't know why it didn't occur to me (scrambled brains, anyone?)!

I'll boogie my way through those damned boxes. http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/7_1_44.gif

OK, here ya go, this is the best I have to offer.

A. The longer you wait the worse it will be!
B. Wait till the midget grows up and then give him the job.
My personal preference is B.

May The Force Be With You.

May The Force Be With You.Hmm. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/whistle.gif

A. Could wait another three years, then
B. The midget will be six years old and that's certainly reading-age...

It's inspired, 001. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/love3.gif

Try dangling a carrot above each box. For everyone cleared, give yourself a small reward. Whether that be a nice 15 min. break, a luxurious bubble bath, or a mimosa. ;)

Or just put the things in every inconvenient place possible so you have no choice but to sort through them.

I do have most of an enormous pot of chocolate mousse in the fridge. That would be a 24-carat-carrot. Good thinking, 003. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/hug.gif

Just leave those boxes where they are. They could save your life when you expect it the least.

My advice would be that you put on music that relaxes you and clears the head. Being a heavy-metal fan on occations I find Gregorian very soothing and it sort of makes you do what you're supposed to do without actually thinking too much about it. You sort of breeze through it. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

And remember, even the longest journey starts with a single first step! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/wave.gif

[edit: typo's - what else? ;) ]

Kami - LMAO! Thank you. There have been many times in the past when clutter has served a similar purpose in my life. :D

Nat - I love Gregorian! It has the most calming effect on me (I'm a nearly-reformed metal wild child too). http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/whistle.gif ;)
I'll have to stay away from the heavy stuff though - don't want to get driven to self-flagellation if I don't sort the papers quickly enough... http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/mischievous.gif

Twiglets are the most fun you can have with your clothes on. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/flirt.gif

They are little wholewheat twig things covered in marmite measles.

They're more mouthwatering than Johnny Depp on rye with a pickle. ;)
