This is basically the whole movie, based on the leaked script:

I don't think the leaked script could give a great preview of the movie since there's another writter involved in.

A "non-original screenplay" is a screenplay that is "based upon source material and all other screenplays" that do not qualify as original screenplays, such as sequels.[9] In the case of a non-original screenplay, any writer who contributes more than 33% of the screenplay is entitled to "screenplay by" credit. There is no heightened percentage for production executives.

So if Geneva wrote 100% of the first draft, the new guy's revisions now has it at a point where AT LEAST 1/3rd of the script is new.

This would be in addition to re-writes by Roar and studio notes but these won't be as vast. If Roar rewrote a lot he would have a credit too. :)

Edit: Decided to take a look at VFX companies working on Tomb Raider...

Very very interesting. VFX companies don't tend to be catch-alls, different companies specialise in different things and it may actually have spoilers for what the film may contain...

4DMax: Specialises in digital doubles so they can have Lara do crazy stuff without a stunt double getting hurt http://www.4dmax.co.uk

Makinarium: Definitely by far spoiler territory, they appear to do lots of work with prosthetics and creating creatures and monsters http://www.makinarium.it

FactoryVFX: Digital set extensions so they did the obvious Hong Kong shots as that was filmed in Capetown and usual world building VFX. Probably plane jump scene too.

ScanlineVFX: Water, water, water sequences. http://www.scanlinevfx.com/muc/en/re..._showreel.html

BufVFX: Backup, they tend to do weird Sci-Fi sequences. Really don't know. They don't have a lot of Post-production time so could be muscle: https://buf.com/vfx/

The screenplay I'm expecting to have the same basic structure but be changed a lot as already evident from the trailer, I have discussed this further in the Spoiler thread and we can't talk about it here but I definitely think there are changes in place. :)

I have the screenplay but I didn't read it, I'm gonna wait to have seen the movie.

I don't want to get into to much discussion outside of the spoiler thread but until I see the final film I don't think I could judge. :p

But we already had 2 popcorn TR movies. I was hoping this would be darker / less campy.

It's a waste of Alicia Vikander if so...

I have to say that they are a bit lazy with the promotional images. Always the same.

It looks like they are still busy, they can still reveal a new poster before the event though :D Hope the next poster shows her exploring a flooded cave (the first one she enters)

I feel like it needs to get the balance right for critics to like it. On one hand if it's not serious enough it'll be panned as camp and on the other if it's too serious it will get written off as boring although I sadly expect that a lot of critics have already judged the film before it's even out, a lot of the Hollywood trade reporters are biased against video game films and are hoping that this will fail so I hope it proves them wrong.

I also could see this film being judged for being directed by a male after the success of Wonder Woman being directed by Patty Jenkins because critics are harsh social justice warriors nowadays. I hope I'm wrong but it's just what I've picked up from early twitter reactions to the trailer from people who work at outlets like The Wrap and Variety.

I really hope I'm wrong and that this is a gem of a film. I want a great adventure with character depth and there is good potential in this particular story and it's film makers to have that happen. The people working on this film are some of the best the business has to offer so I hope they make it live up to its full potential. Another trailer and some decent marketing could work wonders to portray this in a serious light.

The next trailer they put out is going to have to be something special, although I do think the wider general audience are excited for the film and it will breakeven or be a success I don't really think it will fail. The European and Chinese intake for this film will probably be more substantial to the film than the US market because I think doing some marketing research will show that the film is likely to perform better in those areas for different factors.

It's probably still too early to talk about box office but it's very important to ensure the future of the franchise. I'm assuming the budget is around $70M so if it does around $250M it will be a success. Most early predictions have Tomb Raider tracking between $250-325M at the box office so the outlook is hopeful, this could potentially raise to $425M with the added Chinese box office numbers, adventure films test very well in China and Daniel Wu is an A-lister there.

Tomb Raider was trending well on social media so I'm hopeful for a good outcome, the wider general audience seem pleased with the trailer and I expect an even better reception when the next one hits. Hopefully they'll have an aggressive marketing push in the New Year. The next two weeks are going to be dominated by Star Wars coverage so unless they chose to release something at CCXP I feel like it will be a quiet month.

I remember this quote from the interview with Roar Uthaug about the AJ movies:

"I’ve seen the films—they were a lot of fun and Angelina Jolie was a terrific Lara Croft. We are [making] a very different film, an origin story and I think fans will love Alicia in the role."

"At the same time, this is a completely different theatrical approach to Lara Croft that will offer something new in the origin and development of the character. It’s a story that not only highlights her incredible physical accomplishments but delves deeper into her humanity."

This is something that's makes me hope we are gonna have a different movie.

But I won't be surprised if the critics bashed the movie before the release.

I think it can be a success If the second trailer show something different.
Or they didn't want to show us to much maybe.

Interesting read Geekofcommedy I didn't know they hired this team.

A rebuttal to TR male director is that they really tried to find a female director who was experienced enough to do it. 3 Women turned them down before Roar and it’s dangerous Precident to set if only Women can direct women characters, particularly if Men are doing Rey from Star Wars.

However if the film is genuinely crap they will go there. I think WB needs to make a big deal out of the fact a Women wrote most of this! I’d parade Genevas name around like no ones business!

A new trailer playing in front of Star Wars would be great. They tried to do action for trailer 1, let’s show humanity in trailer 2. Show the London life and her diverse friends and show a different angle on the island.

Again I suspect if this film falls apart the consensus review will be “Loved what they did with her in London but the plot falls apart when she gets to the island” because fromthat trailer I don’t know if she’s setting out to find her father or a Tomb. :(
