I think this movie is trying to do the reboot story but with a few minor changes that will make the connection between 2013 and Rise make more sense.

Alexandre is in his 40s, Grimm seems quite a bit older, so no, I don't think it's Grimm, unless they make him younger. If they use the character at all.

I think they've started filming in studio with Alicia and Walton, according to a few South African websites including MTV Africa which is a pretty legitimite name they'd stated that Alicia has already started shooting. The rest of the main cast probably won't be needed until they start shooting on location.

Yeah, same. And I don't particularly care for the story in the reboot games either. But like you said, they're going to confuse everyone and everything all over again. Only worse, I think. Ugh. I'm about to give up honestly.

I wish I'd come to this franchise late and didn't know better. Maybe I could better accept the new backstory. As it stands though, the more they bastardize it the worse I feel about it haha. :facepalm:
