You expect something more from next gen than visuals?

I sincerely hope SquEnix doesn't go all Eidos on Crystal, we've all been down that road before and it won't end well :(

That has nothing to do with the point I was making.

Crystal probably won't try anything as ambitious as AOD, but still, rushing them into next gen could be a bad thing.

I seriously doubt that the next game will be a next-gen title. They've spend so much time (and money) rewriting their engine and development tools for the reboot that I'd imagine they'd want to make good use of it. I expect the next game to be a current gen game but it'll probably get some cheap next-gen ports a la Legend.

Just do everything the PC does and it's good to go for next gen. IMO. For at least one more game.

I don't mean in the sense that Crystal might try to do something they can't achieve, like Core did with AoD. But it's common knowledge that SquEnix isn't exactly 100% shipshape fiscally, I wouldn't want them cracking the whip and trying to make Crystal churn out games like Eidos did to Core.

Umm, not just visuals. Though mostly. The next-gen won't improve much on other aspects anyway.
But I'm fairly sure on next gen we won't need long black corridoors when entering a tomb, for example.

I honestly don't expect a TR game before 2015 and by that time we'll be over one year into next-gen.
If anything, then the next-gen will be ported back to the current-gen consoles.

I doubt TR9 "needed" them either, they're there for atmosphere (I quite liked those bits :o). GTAIV hasn't got any suspiciously fenced in roads hiding load screens.

I agree with this, they will probably release a sequel next year and IMO it's the best thing they can do. We know that the sequel was in pre-development before TR released so i wouldn't be surprised they would announce the sequel before this year ends. Guys don't be so negative CD and SE are reading.

But isn't the current engine prepared for Next Gen? I see a MASSIVE difference between PS3/Xbox 360 and a high-spec PC. So, I bet they could take those incredible graphics, HQ textures, TressFX and etc to PS4 and then improve with that basis. There's no need to erase it, it's obviously what they are going to use for next gen consoles.
