Not sure if this has been discussed, but found this article on game.co.uk.

'We pick things up at the start of the game, as Lara is shipwrecked on a mysterious island off the Japanese coast. Still a young student archaeologist, she's part of an expedition looking for the fabled island of Yamatai, which was supposedly ruled by a queen with shamanistic powers and an army of samurai.
It soon becomes clear that they have indeed found Yamatai in the storm-tossed waters of the Bermuda-style "Dragon's Triangle" - but they've also found more than they bargained for. There are some scarily savage men on the island, as well as a ruthless gang of scavengers - and perhaps some more mysterious presences still. The group is split up and they lose radio contact with another, while Lara falls unconscious and then awakes hanging upside down and bound in a sort of cocoon amid the trappings of some weird cult.'

http://www.game.co.uk/webapp/wcs/sto...w-_-tombraider

Anyone think she'll actually find this 'queen'... Possible end boss of the game?

Oh!!! That sounds great :jmp: !

Thanks for posting :tmb: !

Underhoe 07-02-13 11:36

There is only one Queen and that's Sam. Therefore Sam will be the final boss. Btw, this whole description sounds like there's a bit of gameplay before the Den, can it be possible? Oh wait. Cutscene.

Soul 07-02-13 11:40

I know the text tr_mitch posted isn't in white but still:
Spoiler: Shamanistic Powers = Supernatural Elements in the game :jmp:

tr_mitch 07-02-13 11:46

I'll be glad if they did, I like the realistic way tomb raider has been developed, but I still think they should have 'supernatural' elements within the game... It's always been in tomb raider, and makes going further into tombs and such so much more exciting.

Oops! We did again, we played with your heart,
added stuff in the game.

Soul 07-02-13 11:56

HUH? Fans all over the world were going crazy, when Karl said there won't be any supernatural elements...But changing the mind about it afterwards is still bad, as "ZOMG - CEEDEE lied to us!!!"

People should really rethink their definition of "lying".

Underhoe 07-02-13 11:59

I've always wondered about the meaning of this "realistic approach". They make Lara go through more **** than ever before, yet still alive and kicking. That completely destroys the sense of realism for me, not that I play a game for this reason. :p
But there's no TR without supernatural to me. Elements play a big role in the game as they promise, and the island's diversity suggests that perfectly. (Heck, the desert map just got proven too) We've seen fire, water and wind appear already, there could be more behind this than just the environment/weather itself...

Peep Show 07-02-13 11:59

So that means there is swimming too.

Soul 07-02-13 12:01

:vlol:

Here's the thread about supernatural things in TR http://www.tombraiderforums.com/show...t=supernatural
Every thought that crystal might have seen it and decided to listen to the fans?

Underhoe 07-02-13 12:02

^I still wish there were more than just scavengers as enemies. :( That's pretty boring.
@Peep:Well, that also makes me wonder why remove that feature when it's always been part of a TR, and would only add more varied gameplay...Whatever.

I don't mind personally, the game looks amazing plus i've never been a fan of under water levels. I'm sure swimming will return in the sequel along with an open world setting.

I wasn't, I went crazy about other things but I hardly cared about the missing supernatural stuff, they were nice, definately, but I could do without them in this game so long as they actually returned later on and I don't represent all the fans by my random song :p , I just find really funny how they contradict themselves at least once every week xD .

And the pistols, and Natla and it's actually not a reboot, it's just a new prequel story!

It was a huge disappointment in Underworld, yes. But I blame the jerky controls, I personally hated controlling Lara underwater in that game, but it was much more fluid in Anni+Legend. Although there is a Flooded tomb thingy in the game, as far as I remember.

Weemanply109 07-02-13 12:07

^Swimming to the surface on TRU was so damn glitchy. The Mediterranean was a mess when it came to controlling Lara underwater.

I haven't kept up with interviews, and media, but I'm sure that's not ALL there is.

I'm hoping for something else, maybe not supernatural, but just random men throughout the whole game seems unlikely.

Read the first gameinformer-article and you'll find loads of other stuff, where they did. Game development is called "development" for a reason. Ideas come and go and so I'd never see a change to the better (and you were just one of a few people aka "the minority", who was against realism) as a bad thing or as something to blame Crystal for.

Well, there are wolves too. And perhaps after Debra tastes blood the first time, she won't be able to stop...

Yeah the controls were definitely why it really annoyed me, i'm sure they could do it right. CD said that Lara can swim, she just won't in this game...doesn't that pretty much confirm that it will return in the future?

Weemanply109 07-02-13 12:13

I don't get the whole deal about swimming, I remember some guy saying he wasn't buying the reboot (on a gaming site) because of it. Why add it if it isn't really a prominent feature? If we don't need it, CD are better working on features that are more fitting. I'm fine with the absence of swimming this time around. It's not like she can swim away from the island anyway.

I couldn't agree more and LOL that's one of the dumbest reasons to not buy the game, bless him.

Underhoe 07-02-13 12:16

Surely it's not the end of the world, but if it adds more to the gameplay then why take it away?

Well I don't think they would answer a question about something they would change a bit later, in other words, if they weren't sure they wanted it that way they wouldn't confirm that there will be only one outfit (for example) and then procede to release a ton others! This might be a far-fetched example since there was a large time space between the time they said they weren't gonna have other outfits and the Pre-order/DLC crysis that started at the end of 2012 but still :/ .

I'm not accusing CD of anything I just find really funyy how they cause mini (or larger at some occasions) rages and then take everything back :p .

Some just really like it I guess, I like it too, and it was always a way of cleaning Lara after rolling around in the dirt in the TRilogy, imagine how much more beautiful Lara whould look after a swim :cln: ! I won't go to such an extent and say that I won't buy the game because it's not it (it was even said here on TRF by the way :p ... ) but I just hope it returns.

But she passed through many waterfalls in the cave demo and she was still dirty D: .

I don't expect her to be automatically clean though and I guess that they didn't really care about whether she would be clean or not at the time :p .

ItIsOkBro 07-02-13 13:06

If water was enough to clean off dirt and blood and grass stains then wth is soap for

The cave demo is really outdated at this point though.

Mm, I think they must do as throughout the footage it does keep changing..if it's scripted, I don't know.

I can't remember if this was confirmed or not, but was the auto-save function confirmed to be returning?

They mentioned how we were gonna save our progress but I really don't remember right now, maybe someone else does?

Hey again lol. I'm sorry, I should've been more clear. This section is for discussion on the Tomb Raider Reboot. This is the correct section to post your topic!
