Mm, I know but I didn't get the collectors edition cause I know it'd all just be thrown someone eventually!

I'll think about it. :D

Underhoe 17-02-13 22:16

Woo, I just pre-ordered the game in steel case, and I get the Explorer DLC too. It makes me quite excited. :D

Endurance Week: Learn more about Lara’s shipmates the week of 2-18 – 2/24. Unveiling a character a day, we’ll give added insight into those who join Lara Croft in the search for Yamatai!

Quote:

Lara Croft

• Real Name: Lara Croft
• Age: 21
• Nationality: British
• Occupation: Recently graduated Archaeologist. Also worked several part-time jobs as a student to help pay her way through university, including bar work.
• Interests: Archery, rock climbing & hiking, reading & research.

A bit of a workaholic, Lara is an unassuming and rather bookish young woman, making her way through life in search of meaning and direction after the disappearance of her parents while on an expedition. She is a product of a privileged childhood, and was initially sheltered from many of the harsh realities of life. Growing up, Lara spent time travelling with her parents on archaeological expeditions. She developed a worldly outlook and a passion for ancient mysteries.

The search for Yamatai marks her first job after graduating from university. Although it is her first time as a full crewmember, it is not her first time on the Endurance. She spent time in her early adolescence on the ship when her father used to hire Roth for expeditions, and took several smaller trips more recently as an intern when she could get time away from her studies. Her best friend Samantha and the crew of the Endurance are the closest thing to family that Lara has.

She possesses a powerful sense of moral (if not physical) courage. Lara is clever, resourceful and determined. When push comes to shove, Lara’s loyalty to her friends outweighs her fear for her own safety.

Mikky 17-02-13 23:06

Ah, I was just about to post that. :p

As nice as Lara is, I'm more interested to know more about the other characters and their backstories. :D

TheRCroft 17-02-13 23:07

Sorry! :p Yeah, I'm more interested about the other characters too, I already know enough about Lara :p

BinRaider 17-02-13 23:09

I wanna find out in the game about her friends.

Oh, but no, hair is so imporant. God forbid if anyone thought otherwise.

Agreed. I am SO over the hair thing. Maybe they should have given Lara a crewcut - imagine the complaints then!!

EDIT: LOVE the bio of Lara. So she was already interested in archery/already has some skills. Makes sense. Also, she loves reading and research - so she has no doubt researched Yamati in advance...

James_Rutland 17-02-13 23:31

Is that Justin Bieber?

Yes. :pi: The one you get with the bonus editions is only a mini version of the full art book with 32 pages.

The actual art book has over 250+ pages and costs £16 and is sold separately.

That's a bit ****, to be honest. I'm really tempted to just change my pre order to the standard edition if that's the case as the art book was really the only thing that made me want to get the Survivor Edition, I'm not paying a tenner extra if I'm only going to get the clip notes of a completely separate product.

*Orders standard edition from GAME*

I didn't think about that, what an idiot. I could actually just get the standard edition and buy the artbook too. I think I might do that...

Funny thing that there is a post above me asking about the same question I did few years ago when we got to see Lara's most hideous artwork to date. Funny thing is that there was an unfinished version of that render floating around and she looked awesome.

Seriously, I'm glad I went digital with my purchase because I can't imagine the expression on my face if I opened the package - found the artbook and saw that they used the Justin Bieber render as its cover. God, I hate it so much! :p She looks absolutely awful! I hate the hair, I hate everything. What were they thinking!? >_<

Um, that photo definitely displays a "nip slip"...

Evan C. 18-02-13 01:15

The funny fact is the first thing that Lara suffered on the first concept was cutting her hair to short.

Justin Bieber is a woman after all.

Oh you weren't refering to the render above? :p *blond moment*

Silly me, I should have checked why you reacted like that :p

I'm sure it's a picture of Neve Campbell, a CANADIAN actress (Bieber is Canadian too lol, maybe they are related? xD). She really does look like him.

Baratheon 18-02-13 02:10

Can I just say how unbelievable some of the artwork produced for the competition on deviantART is?

I’d die to have this printed and framed huge on my wall.

Stevo505 18-02-13 02:14

^Wow. That is beautiful.

I kinda wish they would have gone with that short style. Or a loose bun, would have been a nie throwback to the original and no one would have been able to complain about ponytails, braidys and strands of hair.

I really liked the short ponytail from the first concept, too. Would've probably been easier to get that to look realistic, as well.

The quality of the drawing is awesome... But... Lara has too much cheek. She looks like an Eskimos...

Agreed. If I were Lara on the island, I would keep my hair in a bun, not in a long ponytail :p

Gamd1011 18-02-13 04:36

Her hair should look like this in the next game:

KasumiBlosssom 18-02-13 04:54

Well considering the likely possibility of the next game being made for the next-gen consoles, I'm going to say there's a pretty safe bet on the hair physics being much better. Hell I wouldn't even mind a part where Lara has her hair down like in Legend.

Agree :tmb: I couldn't care less about her hair but I do wish they did it shorter or braid so people would stop complaining.

Mr GaGa 18-02-13 06:38

Omg are people still going nuts about the hair! It's just hair in a video game everyone, it looks good. Is this game really so awesome that the only thing to talk about is how the hair could've been better:(

TippingWater 18-02-13 06:53

I cannot wait any longer for this game! *jumps out the window

nevillet 18-02-13 08:02

I agree - really nice!
Man, if I just had an ounce of that skill.... my drawings tend to look like cat scratchings. Or modern art.

Jami393 18-02-13 08:17

So, have Crystal released any screenshots for PS3 and PC yet? I just want to see what it looks like on the other platforms.

Me since the beginning. I have never cared about her hair in this game (or any game). It's just not important.
