Meta2tr update.

META2TR is freeware. It extracts 3D files from TR4 levels, which can be enhanced in Metasequoia or other 3D software, then re-imported back into the TR4 level. It is compatible with TRLE, TREP and NGLE.

Update: I am closing my site because it's out of date and I don't have time to maintain it. If you need help, please take a look at the demo level download below or check out the forums here. I am also removing links to older versions to avoid confusion.

Here are the latest versions of everything:
meta2tr_v8a.zip
meta2tr_v8.zip
floor2prj_v3a.zip

Demo levels:
meta2tr_v7e_+_demo_levels.zip
Includes all the files (project, wad, Metasequoia files). The level has pop-up text and a guide showing how key features were built.

Happy editing ;)

Since the Meta2TR Home page has been taken down, meta2tr provided an offline version of the site:

matrix54 11-10-08 19:45

that is gorgeaous... now, how about collision. i pray we get that soon... then we could have full levels. next thing you know-bam! the level editor is useless... we just go into meta and make levels...

Shauni 11-10-08 19:45

Wow :O *downloading*

God Horus 11-10-08 20:18

Awesome! *hopes we get collision soon!*

Lara's Backpack 11-10-08 22:43

wow, that's going to look fantastic. But I agree with the above, having an easier way to implement collision would be great.

Keep up the great work though :tmb:

meta2tr 12-10-08 05:57

I have added a download with just the level.
meta2tr_demo_level.zip
Download it and follow these steps :
- Copy script.dat and english.dat to Core Design\trle\.
- Place tut1.tr4 into "Core Design\trle\data.
- Then, start tombraider and choose "Playable Tutorial Level"

I totally agree. But it's an engine mod so it's tricky. This is why meta2tr is only really good for final tweaking.

Unfortunately metasequoia won't let you do triggers and game logic.

badboy70 12-10-08 08:42

Sweet !
*off to try that level*
Edit : Awesome :jmp:
Lara doesn't even go into the edited walls anymore, she just runs against them (and keeps running )!

Po Yu 12-10-08 08:59

Amazing!
just tried it and it's awesome!

Zasky 12-10-08 09:09

This looks stunning! :D

Gosh this is amazing!!

Angelina Jolie 13-11-08 21:45

I want to start using this program, but I cant see any of the images on the website, if I click in any of the images, it just says:

The bandwidth or page view limit for this site has been exceeded and the page cannot be viewed at this time. Once the site is below the limit, it will once again begin serving as normal.

And I want to see the images... It only happens with that website...

meta2tr 14-11-08 06:18

Yeah, I have make a lot of changes to avoid this problem.
Should be fixed in a couple of days.

Angelina Jolie 15-11-08 23:55

Thanks, its fixed now!

I cant open the program, I just click on the meta2tr icon and it opens the command prompt telling me the instructions, after that nothing happens. I use vista ultimate 64. Is it compatible?

Aww that happens to me with some programs too, does it close really quickly? If so there is some kind of error. I don't know what to do sorry.

Wayne_Scales 16-11-08 11:38

If it is the icon i think your talking about then you have to drag the tr4 file over it.

Delta 25-02-09 00:11

Hi meta2tr, your program is amazing :D compliments ;)
However I have a question: is there a way to export/import more then one room contemporarily? If no, can you add this feature to the program? :)

This is now possible in version 3.

You can now edit portals in Metasequoia too.

LaraCablara 21-04-09 20:56

Cool, but its impossible to download.

It just says download started and then page load error.

matrix54 21-04-09 21:12

i wonder if i edit a portal, will any size be ok?

like maybe make a door smaller?
i wonder if i edit a portal, will any size be ok?

If you make a door smaller, you won't have to edit the portal object, as long as the edge of the opening is inside the area defined by the portal object.

The portal object like a curtain. It needs to cover the door or window or whatever.

matrix54 21-04-09 21:38

thank you

Do you think collision could ever be a possibility? And thanks for the fantastic programme!

meta2tr 22-04-09 05:34
{eith;3607736']Do you think collision could ever be a possibility? And thanks for the fantastic programme!
Unfortunately no. Not with meta2tr, in any case. In the demo level I used these workarounds.

meta2tr 22-04-09 10:25

Please note that v2 produced MQO files are not compatible with v3 produced MQO files.

To convert existing individual v2 Room files to a v3 MQO file, inject them into your level with META2TR v2 and re-extract them with META2TR v3.

meta2tr 09-09-09 21:32

Meta2tr Version 4 is now available.

You can now export and import movables and statics.

Happy editing ;)

God Horus 09-09-09 21:35

Amazing! OMG! Now I can edit the positioning of objects WITHOUT having to make multiple objects! whooo!!! *dances*

matrix54 09-09-09 21:36

does this mean what I think it means...

we can... UV MAP MESHES!! OMG!!! maybe we can export these, rather than use it ingame. I'm gonna try meta2tr with watery grave and see what I get from using it :)

Actually you can't. Objects are exported as meshes, in a separate file. When you update an object, you are replacing the mesh, just like in StrPix.

u can already use uv map with 3ds max (or another program) and trviewer, but unfortunately it only works for .tr4 files :(

for sure this method with Meta2tr is more stable than that one though (i personally hate tr viewer xD)

psiko 10-09-09 12:51

some of the many things that can be done with this tool :) those are two objects in game with about 2000 vertexes each one :) The first is a 3d gargoyle statue with uv mapping, the second one is a pad lara can walk on :)

Wow

I wonder if one day, we will be able to UV map Lara? :D

deskj 10-09-09 13:52

no words can describe that 2 pics, psiko :D

matrix54 10-09-09 20:49

it's like one step closer to not having to cut textures :pi: and I like your screenshots, all it needs is lighting that we have in modern games :)
