Which Tomb Raider game would you introduce to an outsider?

Which Tomb Raider game would you recommend to an outsider to try and get them into the series?

I would say Legend is the best game to introduce someone into the series because:

1. It has aged very well. The controls, unlike the classics, are still appealing. (despite what some biased classics fans may say)
2. Graphics are still appealing to the eye, although dated obviously, they beat the blocky layout of the classics. --- fun fact, I was playing TR3 with my friend once and he kept laughing at the blocky rocks and platforms loooool
3. It's short and linear, FOR A FAN, but it's the perfect length for a newcomer. It isn't overkill like the rest of the series. Theres a mix of various locations, each lasting one level.
4. The BEST replay value in the series.

Overall, Legend does a great job at portraying what TR should be (Tombs, Platforming etc) while keeping it fresh and at a reasonable length.

So do y'all agree, or would you recommend a different TR, and why? (I wouldn't include the reboot series since it isn't really the best representation of what Tomb Raider is supposed to be. Might as well recommend playing Uncharted...) but I mean if you want to go ahead

_______________

ē Classic: Chronicles.
Because itís easy and newcomer-friendly, whilst also being the peak of Classic TR.

ē LAU: Anniversary.
An easy, modern yet faithful remake of the OG TR1. Why not?

ē Reboot: TR2013.
Because it started it all, and itís the best Reboot TR game. Fun, exciting, thrilling, moving, addicting... thereís so many words I can describe TR2013 with.

The point of this thread is to bring people into the series, not make them kill themselves lmao

SHADOW!

it controls smoothly, it has all the modern day gaming trimmings (RPG elemnts, leveling up system, deeper story, setpieces..etc) and most importantly it's a true TR game filled to the brim with puzzles and tombs and exploration.

To be honest if i were a guy who hadn't played tomb raider and if someone would tell me about it, I'd google up the whole series and start with Legend because i would never play the old blocky graphic game now in 2020 and I'd never like the controls of of the classics. I think it's quite rare to find someone these days who'd like to play with old controls and Uncontrollable camera.

People may think that i don't like the classics but no, i love every single tomb raider game. It's the only franchise I'm a mad fan of.

Depends on who the friend is... and if they can withstand ****ty graphics. The game I would start with (if my friend was a retro gamer) is TR2, because that's the game I started with and I think has a pretty exciting first level. Otherwise, I'd show them Legend or Anniversary. Probably Legend, it's more fun imo.

TR3, so they can run while they still can.

Anniversary. Because it is the closest you will get to a proper TR game that still has (relatively speaking) modern day graphics. Even the story and locations are based on the original game. So it is probably the best introduction in terms of what they can expect should they choose to dig deeper into the catalog of TR games afterwards. :)

Of course more than anything what matters is what kind of person you are introducing TR to, what their taste in games, difficulty, attention span etc is.
Realistically speaking youíre probably better off introducing the person to the TR game that you think that specific individual will enjoy the most.
