You don't have to throw hate to a game you haven't played just because it's not the one you convinced yourself it was gonna be. Stop acting like a brat y'all!

That a very uhh...realistic chest for Lara Croft.
But yeah cool I guess. The mobile thing is kind of a slap in the face to the poor fans who have been pleading for a morsel of Classic Lara over the last few years. |

"Tomb Raider Reloaded - New mobile game" |
Sure it's 'only' a mobile game, but whatever, it looks cute and it's nice to see Square Enix utilising Classic Lara in some form. Besides, between the WETA statue, the anniversary acknowledgement on social media, that AoD track suddenly becoming available for streaming, this being announced... I do think there's more to come in 2021.

Dinosaurs. Braid. And they say SE doesn't listen to the fans. Psshh |
*Impatiently waits for the game to be released*

Either way it is definitely not enough since this is a mobile game and the requests fans made were for main games moving forward. |

I don't think Rise new content was the ultimate and perfect thing for an anniversary, don't get me wrong but... the same strategy could apply. Little projects before the bigger. The year hasn't began, a lot could happen. Or maybe nothing. Imagine of this game will be abandoned like Reflections to begin with haha. I'm not defeatist, 2021 bring it on ! |
Can we just take a second to appreciate that beautiful throwback of a logo.

To be fair, I don't think anyone here is "hating" yet, just remaining cautious and/or skeptical, and rightfully so. I also don't think the TR fanbase in general is quite used to the idea of TR mobile games just yet. |
I loved that trailer, the art style is really cute and the sounds, enemies, the Scion... that was all pure nostalgia.
I'm really curious to see more of this, and while I am getting kind of tired of classic Lara only being side lined to small/mobile games whose gameplay is nothing like classic TR, it is still appreciated that they are doing this. I am worried about it being free to play though... Also, why is everyone assuming this is a TR1 reimagining? Is it just because of the Scion? |
Wowh...I'm so glad!!! finally some form of acknowledgement from Square. And it having the iconic classic lara. Just loved how it started with the duals. This makes me think things are being cooked for the 25th anniversary. OMG YASSS. :D

Damn I saw the trailer just now and came running here to post about it, and you guys have been discussing it for hours already??? Jeez, I can't keep up xD hahaha
I found it very cute. And I hope the more cartoony style will allow for them to be more creative with how the game plays and Lara herself as a character. I'm intrigued by the Scion and the end though. Could it be the game will play as some sort of reimagining of TRI? Or maybe the fact there are spiders and a red dinosaur also means the game could be some sort of reprise of TR I, II & III? I'm curious to see how that'll unfold. I hope the game will also be out for other platforms. I'm not a huge fan of playing on the mobile tbh, but I'm glad to just not see Lara dressed in rags and with a mullet again! |
I guess the negative reactions could change if they paste a PS5 / Switch logo in the trailer :p.
What a nice surprise, loved the trailer and all the TR1 references or, wait, this is a remake / reimagination!? I wonder if they can make a Genshin Impact like strategy and launch the game in both consoles and mobile, that would be great :D. |
Comments aren't great, but I'm not surprised either.

Crystal Dynamics just posted a Q&A
They were not involved in the making of this game, but they did provide some tips in order to provide a good TR experience. Imo this means they definitely have more to show if CD wasn't involved in this l. |
The Golem was certainly unexpected :pi:
Have we ever had Golems? If not, welcome to the TR family, Golem  |

oh, this announcement was kinda out of nowhere lol
i'm pleasantly surprised, the artstyle is very cute and i love that they feature the duals and her braid (not classic outfit with a pony like the Lara Croft games). but i don't know how i feel about it being a mobile game.. |

we need to get behind this game, whether it's what you want or not
CD have convinced Square that Classic Lara doesn't have much of a fanbase and won't make any money, let's prove em wrong I wonder if this will be the start of the 25th anniversary |
Thanks to those who replied to my question. I understand now. I'm not too bothered by it being free to play in this case. My small experience is that it's optional to spend money to make progress. I'd rather that on a mobile game than microtransactions on a main game.
The Lara model looks similar to a fan art that was posted here not too long ago. |
