MS bringing Game Pass to PCs in 2019

This would be nice. For those unfamiliar with Game Pass it is like Netflix. You pay a monthly subscription (about $10/month) and you can download from a library of games, currently MS 1st party or 3rd party XBox360 or Xbox X games. The article explains how it works.

It's really happening uh? Man it'd be AMAZING if I could play Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown on my PC with other people online! I was just about to buy a PS3 just to do so.

Goodbye videogame ownership and games you could play forever if you had the hardware. You will be missed by apparently far too few.

This to me just further solidifies my hunch that MS’s next console will move to bridge the gap between desktop and living room gaming which, given their attitude towards the Xbox one and making exclusives, is probably the right way forward as it’s a hole in the market st this point.

Well the one-console future makes sense. I don't have to buy a Samsung TV to watch my favourite tv show....but need to buy the right console to buy my favourite game oftentimes. It's just BS.

Consoles are just computers in the end....pcs and consoles should come together so we can end this nonsense.

There are indications that MS is researching controllers that can attach to tablets and phones.

This would support the move away from tying games to dedicated devices. I believe there was an interview with a Bethesda executive that expressed a similar desire to move away from developing specific versions of games for specific devices. It really must eat into development time to have to build different versions.

GaaS - Games as a Service, eh?

A lot of major software is moving that way as a means of counteracting piracy, so games are the next on the list I guess.

Stream gaming maybe happening sooner than I thought, EA just announced their Project Atlas program.

And Ubisoft is actively working with Google
