Hi, first of all thank you for your or your work. I feel very proud that people are dedicated to fix bugs in the Tomb Raider games because I love them and they remind me a lot of my childhood.

Angkor Wat (Images from 1 to 5).
Image 1: When Von Croy shows you how to descend from the ledge, the shadow of Von Croy remains above until it does not go down.

Images 2 and 3: If you don't take all the secrets it will take you to the right path (the path of the heretics). If you go in the direction of the arrows in the image 2, when you reach Von Croy and the cinematic comes out talking to you, the error of the image 3 appears.

Images 4 and 5: If you go in the direction of the arrows in image 4, when you get to Von Croy and the cinematic comes out talking to you, the error does not appear as I show you in image 5.

If you take all the secrets it will take you to the left path (the path of the virtuous). Here, no error appears.

Images 21 to 23: In the room of the two ropes, I show you in the three images of the errors that have the two disappearing doors.

In general many of the doors in the game disappear and appear according to the movement and some when you open them are not heard.

Image 20: There is an area which I don't remember if you don't remember I'll go back to the screen and tell you where it is, the torch appears wrong.

If you don't know which area it is, write me either by replying or privately and I'll show you the screen again or I'll show it to you on youtube in a videoguide. In principle these are the errors that I have been finding, I do not know if there will be any more or if someone has other errors. A greeting and thank you very much champion.

Sorry for the English but I do not speak English and I had to translate from Spanish to English with a translator.

Would anyone happen to know what might be causing ALT+TAB to not work in the game? Installed this mod, very happy with it, but it didn't manage to fix an issue I've always had where it's impossible to tab out of the game while it's running. Trying to run it windowed hasn't helped either somehow, still preventing tabbing out. Same issues also apply to TR5 as well. Really hoping to fix it as this makes streaming the game a pain especially.

Wronschien 16-05-23 23:01

Maybe you should try dgvoodoo with fake fullscreen, I had problems with alt-tab and I think this helped. I'm not sure because now I don't have the alt-tab problem anymore, even without dgvoodoo, and I don't remember doing anything else about it.

I've tried that with dgvoodoo and it hasn't done anything sadly, it doesn't necessarily seem to be a fullscreen only issue as windowed mode gives me issues too. It's frustrating.

Thought I'd give TR4 another whirl :) along with these lovely features. :tmb:

In the Tomb of Set secret area with the giant spinning slicer dicer- it doesn't make any sound. I quickly switched out to vanilla exe to test with my savegame and the sound plays fine.

I usually save first on PC before jumping through.

Unlike a lot of death items in Tomb raider 4, where you can learn the best way to tackle a problem. There does not seem to be a visual clue when to jump into the dicer, or how quickly to jump through it. Is there a clue? is there a way? who knows :p

It's very, very tricky to pull off but yes, it's possible to get through them without getting sliced. You have to position yourself in such a way that you have enough time to start sprinting and roll, plus you have to time it so that you're already running when the blades are moving. That swish swish sound, you should be ready to roll by the time the second one stops playing.

mizuno_suisei 02-06-23 02:36

I did a keyword search on the thread for this one, probably a big reach.

Would be neat to have an image file rendered as Inventory and Pause menu background! That funky green and gold background from the PS1 pops up in TRLEs now and then and it's a great visual throwback! :pi:

Hi,
I have a technical problem with the latest version of Tomb4 (2.2.1). The game starts, but the game's loading bar stops at around 20% and the game crashes. Same with The Times Level. The earlier version of Tomb4 2.0.0 works fine for me. What's the problem? I tried to run as administrator and in compatibility with older Windows (I have Win10).

the same is happening to me with the last 3 versions of the tomb4 exe while vanilla TR4 runs fine ! :(

Windows 10 too ! It was running fine and my last computer (I changed 2 month ago) and it was win10 too so I don't understand :(

I remember someone else had this issue and they were able to resolve it by disabling FMVs via the setup.

Kasumi 31-08-23 20:56

Works well, just got through the car parts in Valley of the Kings, Aziz's car doesn't disappear and grenades hurt. :jmp:

FINALLY WE CAN SKIP CUTSCENES!

Only one minor thing: can FoV be changed to make it closer, like in older games or PSX version? I had .exe that fixed holster bug and made camera close. Tomb3main has a toggle for that, I wonder if TLR and Chronicles can be updated with optional closer camera.

Long shot, widescreen aspect is definately automatic, you COULD try Ed Kurlyak's TR234 wide and FOV patcher. May not work! Back up the t4p original files ofcourse just incase you break the exe.

Lower distance value to make it closer? I can try... But Tomb5 has toggle between 4 and 5's camera and Tomb3 has FoV toggle. Tomb1main has manual FoV input.

It's a good feature to just have without having to edit the exe... I just decided to set up Tomb Raider games for widescreen and probably sound annoying as I post about some inconsistencies.

I think this is the old camera mod that would be nice to have as an option for TR4: https://www.tombraiderforums.com/showthread.php?t=151877

Huh? I ported TREP patches to Vanilla TR4, literally 13 years ago in that thread :vlol: I never mentioned trust or bro.
I know Hex editing is probably very laughable but...I was still the first to port them aha. Others followed suit as I taught them how to hex compare and find the similar offsets. Then people with actual programming experience started doing it a more professjonal way and made their own threads :)

They may be referring to the trep *sticky cam feature* I never implemented FOV from TREP as the manual stated at the time it was buggy :)

That wasn't a dig at you, sorry if it seemed like it
the post does not explain what the feature is nor what it does, it just says camera feature that isn't explainable and that you need to get in a corner to feel it, so.. I don't have much to go off of here, doesn't have comparison screens, doesn't explain the different camera behavior, etc.
I'm not hating on the old post, I'm just saying I don't understand what the feature is and I don't know what to do if I were to implement it, unless someone tells me what they expect from it.
and no, hex editing isn't laughable, it probably took the patch author a long time to find what to change, understand the code behind it, etc.

mizuno_suisei 04-09-23 09:00

Aha no problem! Had someone try to say I was a fraud for hex editing :vlol: I mean I was still pretty much blind, but I thought the idea was a creative and and, it ended up great. TREP was so very popular and many started wondering if we could incorporate fixes to TR4.

fast forward to today and we have your wonderful TR4 update all in one go. Legend.

Thankyou again!!

Here ya go, the alcove secret on start of Burial Chambers:

Old .exe:

New .exe:

Same camera as vanilla .exe that comes with Steam.

More image examples in album.

https://www.tombraiderforums.com/album.php?albumid=796

And video that shows how the .exe swap (I didn't even get it form that thread, it came with the strap mod) changes camera. https://youtu.be/X7bqCrt51Eg Longer video showing more: https://youtu.be/N9OyMk58R7c

If you don't have time to watch, alcoves near first secrets from levels 1, 3 and 4 are perfect for testing. I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT CODE. :mis:

I mostly compared with older Lara because of guns and I like her grin when she shoots. Very hard to see with default camera, but easy with the old mod. Noticed camera accidentally when grabbing the secret and laughed out loud at the torso zoom. Was sed losing it after installing tomb4 (which restores camera to vanilla).

The hex-edited .exe also disabled the camera lift on weapon switch... tomb5 project has a toggle between TR4 camera mode and TR5 (lower combat cam), but tomb4 is stuck with the lifting camera. I really liked the options in both mods and just made an observation about camera! Didn't mean to start a fight lol.

Update: uploaded images directly.

Teeth 06-09-23 16:57

The problem is, TR4 was designed with its new camera in-mind, so while I appreciate some prefer the TR1-3 style camera, for me it made certain segments like the pole climbing in Sacred Lake nearly unplayable.

It should definitely be included as a feature, but it must be a toggle IMO

That's why I pinned a screenshot of camera toggle in TR5.

It is possible to port the camera code from Suisei's exe into tomb4? If not, at least no camera lift on guns should be possible.

Edit: testing some more; another feature tomb4 is missing is preventing enemy bodies from disappearing.

I was not using the old .exe from Suisei's thread, but an updated one with holster fix from here BTW:

Do you have the game on Steam? Or can add the non-Steam version as a non-Steam game? Because Steam controller settings fixes everything, but it needs you running Steam itself.

In Steam client, select a game in left tab, then in the right one, under green Play button, click on Controller Layout.
If Steam recognizes game ID, you can just download config directly from Community tab, those that people created. If not, create one yourself or choose a Template saved before.

If you have ANY TR 1-5 game on Steam, it's faster to just export config from there into Templates. Then pick it for those you manually added...
I exported config from TR4 and added it to Times Exclusive level that uses a separate .exe. But you can always setup manually.

Note that for some games I had to install dgvoodoo2 AND sometimes disable Steam overlay (right click game in Steam, properties) before it worked in some cases... likely not needed in case you installed tomb4.

mizuno_suisei 10-09-23 06:43

Kasumi is saying (I believe)

You need to put the tomb4 project files, in Steams TR4 folder. Kinda tricking steam into launching the tomb4 project (as if the game is untouched)

The reason for this I believe- I've never actually used Steam, but I've heard as of somewhat recent, Steam now has an integrated control fix thing for these problems now! Classic TR games use Dinput natively which- isn't good on new controllers as almost are xinput. Steam has apparently fixed this middle man issue now, where for the longest time people needed to use DS4Windows or Joy2Key to bypass it - this is all word of mouth from some friends. Can't confirm 100% Steams controller change.

EDIT; simultaneous reply with Kasumi :vlol: nice
