The conversation was probably from the flashback.
But it was supposed to be a prologue too I think. Not sure if they even came far enough to make a beta version of it, or if they just had an idea of it. |
I'd have loved for the game to start slowly, with some nice, easy fetchy-missions which taught you the controls. Exploring the Endurance.
Then the storms comes and ****. but whatevsiez. |

Yes, that would have been so cool! I really wished they did that.
They said somewhere that they didn't want to make the shipwreck/storm part playable, when they already had such a good CGI trailer. |

I kept saying that during the run up to release, that the game should've had a prologue level set on the Endurance that would've doubled as a stage-setter for the story and a tutorial. It could've been the game's Croft Manor. |
It would remind me of Underworld proloque which I probably wouldn't like.
|
If it's linear then yeah. But if it's a ship you can freely explore and speak with NPC characters, then it wouldn't feel like the TRU prologue, which was a linear exhibition of Underworld's not-the-best ledge-hopping.

The only problem is that it somewhat smashes the flow of their precious story. |

That prologue video looks exactly like the TRU one. Explosions, Lara escaping through strictly linear corridor *shrugs*
I wouldn't mind a short prologue with Croft Manor or wherever she does live now. We could explore the house, go to gym to learn moves and after certain point we'd get infront of the large main gate of the house (like in the classics) and Lara would get a call from Roth if she want to join the Endurance. That would be just great. |
