Long working weekend! Now it's #gameofthrones #madmen and then pack up for another week in London!
Why Karl has to go to London that often? Couldn't he finish the job two weeks ago when he last visited?

just*raidin*tomb 07-05-12 05:51

Because it's his job.

Lio123 07-05-12 06:12

We all know that the puzzles for this new game will be really difficult, will you guys try to solved them or take the easy way by looking at the YouTube game plays?

I will try for a few times, but if i don't get it, i will go to YouTube and find out how.

just*raidin*tomb 07-05-12 06:19

I will stay stuck for months before I look for help. lol

I seriously doubt that I'm gonna get stuck though...

motoleo 07-05-12 06:24

I wonder of this Tomb Raider will have alternate endings, I believe it had alternate death sequences. I also wonder how many bosses it has.

If I remember correctly, I believe Karl stated that there would only be one ending.

Not 100% on that though.

Probably no alternate endings. They want to tell a very clear story with this game, and they've said that before.

Tonyrobinson 07-05-12 06:48

Yeah there will be one whole story aimed to be told but multiple routes will still lead to the next part of the story. :)

lcroft_lc 07-05-12 07:10

I don't want multiple ending. One story, one ending. Case closed. :)

Yeah, what just*raidin*tomb said. And who exactly said it has anything to do with Tomb Raider?

Bashar 07-05-12 10:13

Omg guys, I had a dream about Lara yesterday. I dreamt she got eaten by a wolf and tossed by roth in a blue whirl pool filled with paper clips. :pi:

Oh and, amanda was there. D: D: D:

Not that I know of, I believe Karl said they go as you progress, the game plays intuitively or something.

The icons can be disabled, I'm sure. The Survival Instinct is what will go away over time. Maybe the icons as well if you don't disable them. The icons are more for training. Or something.

Because it's a logical assumption, perhaps? Tomb Raider is the game being promoted and being worked on; TR is the only game we've seen Karl talk about anywhere. It's a working weekend.

NRO. 07-05-12 12:37

I actually want multiple endings. ._.

And with that I mean one good ending and one really bad one. Like the island goes all Pompeii and Lara's brain explodes from the pyroclastic surge because you told one of the villagers that you don't like ham sandwiches. Or just like ffx-2, I dunno.

I need to stop watching Pompeii documentaries.

I know, but I also expect them to announce those two IP's at E3. Who knows. The most important thing is Tomb Raider indeed. For them and for us too.
What do you mean the survival instinct is what will go away over time?

Well that's what I understood Karl meant. He said that with something like the wolf paw prints, you use it to track them, but once you've used it for paw prints, you can't use it for paw prints again. So I suppose it won't go away completely, but once you've learned it you won't rely on it as much, you'll learn to recognize the signs.

Maybe the icons work in a similar way. We see the fire icons in the den as it's the first puzzle to use fire, but after that we won't see the icons again even if fire is used in further puzzles? I'm hoping they can just be disabled from the beginning. I don't know if it's actually been confirmed or if it's guess work.

Hold on a minute..it's not like I'm going to use the survival instinct, but I don't get it....so basically you can use the survival instinct just once for each thing? What's the point and how is that going to be helpful for people who never played Tomb Raider or just want to use that option?
Sadly, we have no confirmation those hint icons can be disabled, but I'm hoping they can. I do not want to use ANY kind of hints in the game.

I think it's quite cool that it works like that (if it does at all). I mean, the items used in any given puzzle (the boxes and barrels in the den) that can be used are simply highlighted using the SI, right? It doesn't tell you the solution exactly. If Lara is tracking wolf paw prints, they are visible without the SI only very faintly, so you use the SI and know what to look for. I don't see a problem with the SI no longer being available for the same use later on; you know what to look for now. In a way, CD are actually giving the player some credit in being able to recognise things a second time. So it's like they're saying 'you need help here?', right, so here is a hint, but you're on your own after that'. This is a positive. This game doesn't follow the exact same rules as the past games, so does it matter if someone is new to the series? We've seen paw prints in the games before, in snow, but we've never tacked them (to follow or avoid?). I don't want icons and I'm hoping to not use the SI myself, as I don't believe in 'hand holding', but the 'hand holding' elements don't seem so clear this time. Sorry to say it, but if a gamer is going into the game and always use the icons or SI only to complain that they're not there to guide them the whole way through, then CD can't win. The games are either too easy or too hard. It's not really CD's fault, imo, if a gamer, having learned a new skill still needs help. They're giving us tools to use to learn, just like you would in real life, but they're not actually holding your hand the whole time.

You're talking about Hitman.

Aha, sounds cool now as you described it. Yeah, it does make sense. I remember that Daniel used the survival instinct two times in the E3 demo for the same thing, the barrels. But it was probably for the demo purpose? No, wait...he used it once for the barrels when entered the shark cage puzzle room and then he used it for the shark cage itself (to let the players know they can somehow interact with it), right? I'm confused....well, it doesn't matter anyway, it was probably edited for the E3 demo. I also remember that anytime (the "anytime" in this case gave me the impression the players who want to use it can actually use it countless times for each and any thing) you track the wolves paw prints by the survival instinct you should better prepare yourself for an attack. I dunno where I read it, but I still remember it. Well, it might be just wrong translation. But I'd like it to be like you said, even if I'm not going to use it. I will use it only if there's gonna be some really tough puzzle challenge (which I doubt about by the way) and after being stuck for a week or something.
What I'm really not happy with is this Karl's answer about those icons and hints. He didn't even mention that we can disable them :/ I still think it would be ridiculously stupid not to, because we were able to do that in LAU, so...decide yourself how it does sound... :/

Q:Will there be a hardcore mode, similar to the new Hitman's "Purist Mode" where all helper icons, Survival Instinct and other visual hints will be disabled, to cater to the more experienced TR players?

A:KS: “We’ve already discussed that Tomb Raider will boast multiple difficulty settings to make the game accessible to a wider range of players. A “purist mode” isn’t necessary in that regard, as hardcore players can choose not to use the optional survival instinct system if they want to keep their experience challenging. Our goal is to ensure that the game is challenging even for the most seasoned Tomb Raider players.”

Sounds to me like the only thing we can do is not using the survival instinct if we want the game to be challenging :/

I don't understand them , why they won't reveal the new trailer now ? , why 31 May ? They should reveal a new trailer now with the release date :( till E3 with the epic gameplay . :cln: .

They want to blow everyone out at E3 I guess. And if that so then we waited 11 months and could live last one long month. 28 days and 2 hours tbqh. :)

It does, but after E3, so everything they are going to say at E3 will be in those magazines, so...like nothing new.

I think you don't understand the point of this thread ;) you keep posting things absolutely non-related to Tomb Raider. And not only in this thread. :)

Alexander990 07-05-12 14:52

I bet they'll most probably release information this month. It's been too long. Some may even have forgotten about the upcoming TR game.

Lukass 07-05-12 14:54

They did! :vlol: And I'm not lying, it's almost every day I read in some discussion "Ah, yeah, there's still the new TR, I forgot about it"! D:
