^Great minds thinks alike :pi: :D

Btw, I'm the only one who think killing Himiko with the torch was really cheap? I mean, c'mon! You got a load of weapons and tools and you use a torch? A TORCH? xD

I hope the sequel has just as much torch play.

We'll have to fix that. :pi:

I was actually very impressed that she used the torch, it was... awesome...

For some reason I first got he impression that the general's sword is what's needed to kill her and actually didn't understand how Lara set it on fire. It was only some time later that I realised it was actually her torch and not the sword. I guess the torch is okay, it's cool she set her on fire, but I would've preferred if she somehow used the sword (too).

larafan25 31-08-13 22:18

Yeah, Lara keeps that sword but it goes nowhere and we never touch it... :/

Patrick star 31-08-13 22:30

she puts it in her bottomless pocket :P

Rai 31-08-13 22:39

The torch acted like a stake to the heart, with the fire burning the body - just as all those women got burned at the stake to see if they'd get chosen as the next vessel. It was a fitting death for Himiko.

Wouldn't it have been awesome if Himiko had actually set the rain on fire in the game :D?

That would have. Raining fire and having to stay under the ceilings and shadows!

Exactly my thoughts!
That would've been interesting.

_Ninja_ 31-08-13 22:51

That would make some great imagery.

Lol I didn't even notice it was a torch. I thought it was a random stick and only a long long while later that I realized what it was.

I think in TR2103 because there was a group of survivors with Lara they should have had 1 section where Lara and a few of them together had to travel across a dangerous bit - tough platforming, traps and some hostile encounters.

Maybe if the individuals had used their personalities/special skills too to work collaboratively to solve puzzles (like Project Eden) it could have been really interesting.

Eg.........

Jonah - only one who could lift heavy things
Alex - IT/geeky things - getting old island technology to start up
Reyes - anything needing a spanner / screwdriver

I actually thought there would be such a level, after they fixed the boat and traveled inland, I thought there would be a level where you are travelling through marshy waters and you'd have to collaborate with your team to traverse a dangerous terrain. Sadly that never happened.

Blackmoor 01-09-13 10:29

^Mmmmm, getting lost in marshes sounds fun. One false move and.....stuck and sinking!

Exactly. Otherwise what's the point on having all the characters playable in Multiplayer? It feels like they originally wanted to include some levels where you play as other characters, but they somewhat couldn't get it to work - and instead they used what scrap they got and created multiplayer mode...

tomee 01-09-13 16:54

Sounds interesting. Sadly TRF would be all over because Lara is not isolated...

Nice idea blackmoor, but I worry they would do it like other games. Whenever they did that in GTA games, the other people were a hindrance, dragging behind, not keeping up and getting themselves killed, failing the level and forcing you to re-start. You had to babysit them and protect them, kind of a pain when your busy trying to keep your own player alive.

I liked the way they used Roth as a sniper, that was cool. Wish there was more of that kind of help from the other characters.

Yeah , people complained a hell about some small few radio chats for " breaking the sense of isolation " and yet they have no problem with complete levels accompanied with other survivors ???...WTF
I'm just confused ....

Mikky 03-09-13 17:13

I swear I don't remember seeing anyone here complain about the radio chats myself, which I always thought was kinda surprising. But I just thought it was because they weren't that prevalent in the game and so there wasn't really anything to complain about. Do they really break the sense of isolation? Considering the few times they happen are near enemies or during an OTT action sequence, hardly. Seriously. They're so forgettable, anyway.

Yeaaaah , a lot :p

PyramidRaider 03-09-13 20:59

Is this worth buying on steam?

Spong 03-09-13 21:02

^Depends on how much it is.

PyramidRaider 03-09-13 21:13

$49.99

But I'm wondering as well if it will work right on my laptop. I have an Acer Aspire windows 8 with intel Pentium.

larafan25 03-09-13 21:26

Oh, my old Betsy is an Acer Aspire. <3

But it's Windows XP.

I preferred the isolation, you'll probably even see my posts in the old threads. I don't want help. I wanna figure it out, not have some voice that's not there explain it.

What? In your previous post in this thread you clearly said "Wish there was more of that kind of help from the other characters".

thevman 05-09-13 15:29

Actually physical help, he wasn't just a voice from another continent, he was there picking off enemies.

The headset help in the previous games was stupid, people not even there telling her what to do.

Steven_1379 06-09-13 03:18

This is how i honor Lara croft when i play U3 Multiplayer...

^I wish they had custom females.

Am I the only one who wants Lara to be like... the promo model for TRESSFX?

I want the next games that come out with whatever upgraded TRESS FX to have a promo poster of Lara ut in the wilderness, looking all gritty and ****, but with her hair loose and blowing amazingly because TRESSFX!

pirate1802 06-09-13 04:32

Hope they make her hair look a little more dirty next time. It was a little stupid to have Garnier-clean hair flowing about while the rest of her body was covered in mud. Prime reason why I didn't use tressfx.

Linoshi Croft 06-09-13 10:14

Well, I think people need to cut the TressFX some slack on that one. They've barely even got it to move like real hair normally let alone under certain conditions, it's a little silly to expect something like that from something so new. You're going to have to give them time to develop it further.

pirate1802 06-09-13 10:18

Never was bashing it, all I was saying that its not perfect and they need to improve it next time. Exactly what you said. As a new piece of technology, its quite breathtaking actually.

trin_303 06-09-13 12:43

I have to say what my mother just said.

I am watching Tomb Raider walkthrough and she heard Lara talk and she said "wait, that's not Lara" and I told her that it is and she was all shocked. She said "what? Lara never sounded like that... She sounds now like oh no mommy I need help, constantly moaning like some sissy." She is still shocked how she sounds LOLOL

My mother watched me play Tomb Raider since I was 8.

This is kind of sad, actually. My mom also couldn't recognise this Lara when she first saw me playing...

You'll have to tell her that it's her first adventure and it's a reboot etc etc :p
BTW , have you showed her the " run you bastards !! I'm coming for you all " or the " die you son of a bitch " or the " you won't stop me you bastards ! get the hell out of my way ! " ....just asking :whi:
OMG OMG it's my post number 500 and I'm now an explorer :D :D :D
