With this, Alicia and the probably fake "Armie Hammer stunt man" on IMDB hinting that Armie Hammer might be in the movie, I wonder if Tomb Raider II is just a re-skinned Freakshift. :p

Joking of course, that movie has a very non-Tomb Raider set up, but Ben does like to work with people he has already worked in the past...

So I had to jump on here after the news today. I saw where some think we are posting fake news. I get it I really do but I would not risk the credibility of our brand for fake news. Daniel Richtman is not my source but I do ron occasion run my stuff by him since he has a very good track record.

My source has been in close contact with me and we talk regularly on what is going on with this film behind the scenes.

The pandemic has for sure set this film back but hopefully we will see some movement on it in 2021. I was told this film is in no way cancelled and is just on hold until they figure what to do regarding filming.

Sasha was being eyed for the role. She has been on Ben's radar before. Once filming begins I am not sure if her schedule will allow for her to join or if she ever actually had serious talks with them about joining. I think she would be a great fit for the film and it would boost her resume.

But I heard Leavesden studios are re opening for filming so TR2 can't be shoot there ?

2021 seems far away :(

I do not know. The studio might have just put in on the back burner for this year. I will keep checking but it is looking less and less likely any filming on it happens this year

It's a bit of a shame if the movie indeed doesn't start shooting before 2021, though it is understandable. A 2021 release would have been just perfect, considering the 25th anniversary of the franchise and the 20th anniversary of the first movie.

Still, as long as it still isn't cancelled, it is at least a good sign.

I just find it odd that MGM still hasn't at least publicly rescheduled the March 2021 release date. Maybe they don't want to officially move the date until they are 100% sure they can start shooting the film, but it is still a bit odd.

It will be coming off their 2021 calendar soon. I also heard the studio is trying to figure out financing on it and that they might move forward with their smaller acquisitions that DeLuca has purchased first. But if the climate changes and studios see that resuming filming with little impact from COVID then it might be possible they start late fall or early winter. I just would not get my hopes up. Most grids I have been shown so TR at a TBA start date

I hope financing doesn't hold things up too much or it might end up like Freakshift. :(

I'm staying hopeful for now. :)
