Anniversary Fixes Texture Pack

Anniversary Fixes

Hi everyone!

MachoBroccoli's efforts in fixing some of Legend's issues have sparked my interest in creating a similar project for Anniversary. You can check out his fantastic thread.

During my recent playthrough - I've come across a number of anticlimactic mistakes. One of these is Natla's tiara and necklace which is split down the middle. I've edited both of these to close the gap. The lower part of the necklace have been raised a little to better tie-up with the rest of the jewellery.

The grey stripe on Natla's forehead and the pixel line below her scarf have been removed. This issue affects Natla's model in both the Introduction and Ambush cutscenes. Update: Natla received a scarf fix too.

The split down the middle of Demon Natla's face is another consequence of bad UV mapping. I've also properly lined up her teeth as well. Modern Natla and Queen Natla's teeth needed straightening too.

Tihocan's nose and teeth needed a little work too.

Take a look at the texture mess that is Lara's hand. I've edited the texture to fill the parts that shouldn't be showing skin in addition to making the glove edges more crisp.

In the Banishment cutscene - there are layers of erect trees textures which are not properly transparent due to conflict with the yellow mist. It's a lot more obvious when watching the cutscene play out. The erect trees texture have been changed to a blank alpha image to remove the issue. The surface below the hills have been darkened in an attempt to blend with the environment a little better.

Advice for best gameplay experience:
  • Enable VSync in external settings.
  • Disable Fullscreen Anti-Aliasing in Display settings. Enable AA in the GPU control panel instead. This will fix Lara's broken shadow.
  • The save system by checkpoints can get corrupted and stop saving the player's progress, so use save slots often. Read about the workaround solution here when playing in Croft Manor.
  • I'd also recommend checking out MachoBroccoli's Remastered 4K Intro FMV.

Other projects:

- Old Gen+
- Legend-style PDA for Underworld

What's with stuff in the LAU trilogy having issues with the middle of the body?
Thanks for the fixes!

Nice job! That did always bother me, especially the grey line on Natla's neck.

It's cause the UVs on characters in Legend and Anniversary (and possibly Underworld but I'm not sure on that one) are mirrored. So the texture doesn't have the whole face on it, it only has half the face which is then mirrored for the other half of the face. But that also means that, if the UVs and textures don't line up perfectly, you'll get these sorts of artefacts down the middle.

Thanks for the positive feedbacks. I hope your next playthrough of Anniversary will be less troublesome ;)

In Underworld models have unique textures for each body parts and most if them aren't mirrored (face textures for example). You can see it with any Underworld model you use in XPS Lara, the textures are visible in the model's folder

Interesting, thanks for explaining :)

BTW I've just updated this texture pack. Demon Natla's teeth are now properly lined up. You can see the changes in the (now updated) screenshot in the first post.

Update ;)

DRM files are now available via the download link for anyone who prefers to unpack the game and replace the files.

On a smaller note - the tpf file have been updated with a small improvement to close the gap on Tihocan's teeth.
