He looks quite Mathias-y to me but, of course, we don't know whether Mathias is even going to be in the film so that doesn't mean a whole lot at this point.

Given he's apparently filming for 3 months I'm thinking Roth more likely. I can't imagine Whitman, if he is in the movie, to have such a prominent role, given that Goggins is already established as the main villain.

Hello Roth // Daddy :cln:

Roar definitely has a part in these castings. In fairness they really do look "the part".

Gosh, I'm so worried about this movie after these new details... Canonicity is so important and moviemakers seem to ruin this... :/

New information about the movie shows that there is the risk that it wonít be canon. There is information about Chinese captain of the ship (Roth wasnít ChineseÖ) and there is no mention about Japan. Lara will search her father in the movie, and in TR9 she didnít do it, she was shipwrecked on Yamatai and her father was dead for a very long time.

When first details about the movie came, I was so sure that the movie will be canon. Crystal Dynamics promised in 2013 that every piece of new content will be canon in the rebooted timeline. But it seems now that the movie is aÖ reboot of the reboot? :/

Or I have another theory: maybe the movie will take place after the events of RotTR and we will get new comic series which would fill the gap between RotTR and the movie? If the movie would take place after the last game, it had much more sense. Lara would search her father, because after the events in RotTR maybe she had a clue that he was still alive (I hope itís not true, because it would be so absurd if he is still alive). Also it would explain why we have new captain of the ship, some Chinese, not Roth.

The new Assassinís Creed movie shows that canonicity is very important. I really donít like to watch alternative versions of the game in the movie. I want to watch the new story which is canon to the games. I assume that most of TR fans think the same as me.

^I honestly don't care that it's not canon but that's mostly because I think that the current games' canon is **** to begin with :p.

I very much doubt it, given that both Alicia and Roar have stated it's an origin story, so it's definitely Lara's first great adventure.

I think there will be broad parallels with the game but certain details will be altered -- as in most movies based on books/games.

Especially when appropriately grizzled ;)

^He looks quite nice but I don't think he particularly resembles Roth at all TBH.

If he is Roth, its probably because the studio wanted someone younger for sex appeal.

Honestly though, he's probably playing a new character.

Tonyrobinson 14-01-17 20:57

Roth was pretty handsome to begin with so if this guy is Roth then I'm okay with it. :)

Definitely has Roth vibes from the first image but they need someone whose ruggedly handsome. Also actors don't need to look 1:1 like Alicia.
