TBH, most of the TR games I've played don't warrant much return for me, not even the classics.

The reason I go back to LBP is because the levels in the story mode are actually fun and accessible, but of course I can make my own levels too and play other levels online or do multiplayer.

But I don't think online modes or an editor is the only way, because Skyrim has me coming back for more and it has neither.

But I feel like a game that is just Uncharted 3 story mode, would be so non-re-playable to me. :/

True. I started replaying UC1 and it was hard to sit through cutscenes and gunfights because I already knew what happened so.. it wasn't really that worth it.

Lukass 08-02-12 03:16

It looks sick! Shame it's linear as hell though. Not case of TOMB RAIDER :D

Yeah, if I forget about the game for a while, I can usually go back though.

It was true for the cinematic parts of TR.

leglion 08-02-12 03:24

^we don't know that yet.

You should watch the E3 demo, it's great.

Lukass 08-02-12 03:27

I thought we all know why the E3 demo is linear. I was wrong again.

It's linear because CD made it linear, for other reasons I'm too lazy to state.

leglion 08-02-12 03:32

A video can only tell you so much. Before the extended demo was released, people thought that section was way shorter than it actually was. Plus people who've played the demo described areas we haven't seen with glitches and missing textures. So it's obvious to me that the demo isn't representative of how long that section is.

Stevo505 08-02-12 03:33

I hope the E3 demo isn't the playable demo later on... that would suck.

Right. They said that the Den is not going to look exactly like that once the game is finished. There are going to be corridors to explore and we're not going to escape the tomb in 5 mins like they did in the demo.

skylark1121 08-02-12 03:33

You guys.... That cave was man-made. It would be linear in real life... :p

larafan25 08-02-12 03:35

^The cave was man-made? Sure, it was inhabited by men, but the cave itself could have had way more routes and ways to get lost.

The extended version is probably the entire thing.

From getting up after the spike accident, to ....the puzzle room, and from the puzzle room to the end is all just a line, or so it seems.

I don't see room for much else, or need for much else when all you're supposed to be doing is what is fed to you.

I wouldn't mind. I'd spend all my time just staring at things.

NCFirebolt21 08-02-12 03:36

You know, they said all those announcements are expected in early 2012? Well, Q1 of 2012 ends on 1st April, if we don't get info by then, I don't know what I'll do.

Because it wouldn't really show much of what the game is about.

A specific mission in the night hub (maybe the radio tower mission) would be good for a demo.

I wonder if there are going to be playable demos at E3.

But did you see any areas with missing textures and glitches? I personally didn't. Mind you this was said After the demo was released. I think that the demo takes the most straight forward path but ignores areas that would count as exploration. That would also explain the seemingly random enemy spawn; he didn't just magically appear, he came from an area we've never seen. I also think I saw some explorable areas in the distance but my memory's foggy. I'll see if I can point them out tommorow but for now I have to catch some ZZZz

I wouldn't count on there being anything more to that area, TBH. I'd also expect the E3 version to be extremely polished. :/

Stevo505 08-02-12 03:50

Yeah, there could have just been rafters or something above Lara that the scavenger was hiding on.

No, it's not. Right after the E3 presentation Jay said, that there are corridors to explore in the den, we'll pick up some items there also and it's not matter of 5 minutes to escape the den.

And yes, it's obvious that there is going to be playable demo open to public at E3. People (bitches) will play it, just like they did with LCGoL.

Yes, because after the E3 presentation we got the extended version with the other corridors.

TBH there's more to exploration for me than moving the camera around a hall to see if there is anything to interact with. :/

Also, I somehow doubt there will be a playable demo at E3.

Karl said, that there will be playable demo at E3 2012. The game is going to be released in the next few months. When would you expect the playablel demo to be available for public then if not at E3?

No. Even the extended version is not final version of the den.

Wut? The extended version is not final? I don't believe this. Sure small things will change, but we're not going to suddenly have extra pathways to roam around.

Also, I don't really remember Karl saying there'd be a playable demo at E3, and I just don't see it happening for some reason.

Does Lara move her mouth in game when she talks?

Lukass 08-02-12 04:07

I'm trying to find jaywalker's posts where he's talking about the den...

I'm sure he was talking about the difference between the stageshow den and the extended den seen later on.

Anyways, I wanna go here...

How do you doubt there being a playable demo at E3? There was one for TRU wasn't? That was released in the fall too.

I doubt these traditions, because it seems like the gaming industry and it's traditions are changing, and not to mention the fact that there's just little trust in TR media actually happening these days, right?

Or maybe lost interest in getting the game. Anyway, I don't expect my comp to handle the awesomeness of the final product, it's a pretty outdated system.

lcroft_lc 08-02-12 13:01

That V-card competition can't be the 'fun information' we are expecting to get in February for sure. Its the number 5 of a competition, which clearly isn't something new for the fun info. Beside mid-February actually starts from February 11 and ends at February 20. So no chance.

Fun info is about to come after around a week. :jmp:

It'd either be Karl's version of the game or it would be running on his account on a 360.

Hmm. Brian Horton played the demo on Gamespot stage. :)

Tonyrobinson 08-02-12 13:30

I always thought the demo they showed on stage was pre-recorded. :pi:
