I noticed this as well, I mean when I play it on my PC. The sack indeed shivers, I really wish I could hack the fire arrows and burn it down. Actually I did burn all the reachable sacks with the torch, I even used the moon-jump to do so, but I only found boots inside them :p.

AimlessThunder 24-04-13 14:17

So apparently she's not a Tomb Raider in this game, that may actually explain the lack of challenging tombs. The focus was on survival. I am excited for the next game. I can already picture the predictable cheesy closing line "A Tomb Raider is Born.." :p.

She set out to be a Tomb Raider looking for Yamiti.. Then got washed up so she became a survivor trying to get off the island but turned into a Tomb Raider as-well as surviving lol.

There's a few problems with proportions though. Particularly Her right leg.

I really like the contrast of lights and shadows. There's quite a few little details too that really improve the overall piece. Like the water droplets on her face and skin. And the mountainous area behind the plateau that is just visible behind the fog and rays of light.

On the ps3 version the sack moved in my first try, the next 2 dindīt...

It's moving when you need to swing Lara when gameplay starts. Must be a draft that's causing it to move

Cristina 24-04-13 22:09

Thats before we swing Lara, its when she is still pulled in the air before she wakes, never seen one to move after that...

Interesting. I'd be curious to see what got through to the team and what didn't and the formula that the decision was based on. But I guess that's confidential now or something, even though they were our posts/thoughts :pi::p

Yes, it's for internal use only. That being said, what Cath and I did is break down the game by core subjects/mechanics in regards to what fans liked, didn't like, and would like to see more of/feature requests.

I hope the poll here concerning DLC was one of the things noted. Personally, I'm furious about how Crystal seemingly don't care about the single-player. From my point of view, as someone who dislikes multiplayer, you killed any longevity the game could've had.

I'm sorry but are you sure you want to say that? Collecting all necessary objects and raiding all tombs and finishing in 100% is what made this game so LONG. Tomb Raider Legend and Underworld were NOTHING in comparison to playtime and longevity.

I'm not referring to speedruns, I'm referring to a normal full playthrough in comparison to Crystal's previous titles. I saw a BIG step up in this. I was constantly thinking TR2013 was going to end around half way through because I was so used to such short gametimes from the previous installments.

Sorry, your comment has just absolutely stumped me :wve:

Did all that in my first playthrough, took seventeen hours and I enjoyed it. What was there to do after that though? Bugger all.

My contention comes from the bias towards multiplayer DLC and Karl saying they had no plans for any single-player DLC. The decision is idiotic IMO, who in their right mind would put all their eggs in one basket (especially when multiplayer TR hadn't been done before) and then choose to completely ignore the people who don't want to play or don't like the multiplayer? Surely that must stump you as well? Of course, if you're lucky enough to like multiplayer and enjoy TR9's, the problem doesn't even exist. The rest of us though have nothing to look forwards to except playing the same game with absolutely nothing different or new.

As far as I know, all the statements on that were about not having any plans on single player DLC "at the moment". Maybe I'm not informed enough though. Seeing as I have no interest in multiplayer aswell, I agree with you on it being a stupid idea. There's alot of the island map left unexplored and alot of convenient entrances to possible side tombs they could release as DLC. It also seems like the most logical step post release. The tombs would fit in naturally as DLC and wouldn't get involved with the main story in any way. They could also do a smart thing and make them more complicated and larger. If this was up to me, that's what I'd do with it, and I think I'd be very optimistic on the revenue it could make, judging by the common reactions that I've seen all around.

Don't get me wrong, I agree about the lack of SP DLC, I wonder why we got the ****kicker with that one but then I don't understand why you wonder what else could we have done after finishing the game? In the previous games once we'd finished all the levels and all secrets, all we could do was start again from the beginning without anything. Yeah some games had downloadable outfits, some games had add on expansions, THIS game has both of those...

I agree with this somewhat. Yeah we're probably wrong thinking that because much of the island map was unexplored, we'll get unlock-able areas in the future, I feel quite silly for even hoping for that actually but its a good thought. The franchise peak isn't over yet, it's only being released in Japan as of today.

You're exactly right. But as far as I'm concerned the use of "at the moment" in that statement is just PR spin for "we're getting backlash that we didn't expect". It's a get-out clause, a few words to deflect the complaints that, ultimately, could still amount to nothing.

All that is perfect and, to me, is a completely logical direction to take when considering DLC. But up until that statement from Karl, it seems that sort of thing was never even considered, or it was but they chose to disregard it in favour of multiplayer DLC (for a multiplayer they couldn't be sure would be a success).

That's the culture that lazy gamers and devs have created nowadays. Longevity doesn't exist any more (outside of heavy grinding games) unless a game is given DLC.

Yeah, it used to be like that. IMO, this game, as a reboot, was a promise from the start that they'd take all the current trends in gaming to consideration and have some new strategies for the franchise. That was exactly what I was thinking of there. It's common today for action/adventure games to have sp dlc. I really don't see a reason why they wouldn't take that path with TR, coming from the obvious reason that it would be fairly easy to do so and not disrupt the storytelling as it was done before with the Underworld dlc.
And yes, they have made a wonderful job so far with the content. I too think there's alot of things to do in the game for it to be a great game as is. :)

I don't know if you have read/seen the final hours of TR, but from all the info so far, they seem to have went through alot of trouble with coming to a clear vision for the reboot. It seems very unlikely that a developer would favour an experimental mode in this case (seems to have been experimental since the guardian of light) just to have it in future sequels. Especially after the multiplayer mode was badly excepted from both critics and consumers upon release. If it really is like you stated, then they're just blind to what's going on with the game. I really hope it's more thought through than that. Strangely enough, I always criticize CD but always stay optimistic about what they might do next lol.

Oh, and also, in case the multiplayer dlc is the only one we're getting, then I'm wondering, since they left the mp development to the montreal studio as a later decision, would that mean that the original team had no plans on dlc at all (besides the outfits)? Hm, it's a question now, I guess, if the montreal guys are developing the dlc alone or if it's a joint effort. If it's not, I say that the original team is either working on/has made sp dlc or they are already deep into the development of the new game. I think this is an interesting question.

This makes me happy :jmp:

One thing that is so good about this forum is that we can talk about things we'd like to see changed and know that they will be read. That leaves my social networks clear for me to talk about all the good things I like about the games :D

Demonsweat 25-04-13 03:38

I almost feel bad posting criticisms since I know CD worked so hard on this game. Modern gaming conventions are very constricting and some of the things we loved about the old games sadly just have no place anymore. So the best we can hope for now is a game that's good compared to other modern games, which TR2013 definitely is.

I can understand the no SP DLC thing. For one, introducing multiplayer now gives some future security for the series since everything's moving in that direction now. Also, another single-player story, even if it's very limited, could dilute the interest that's being generated about Lara now. It's all very focused on Lara's initial experience and that's maybe where they want the focus to be for a while. That's all much more powerful than "Lara finds a trinket on a little adventure." Her second adventure can't be a half-game, it has to be big.

The1andOnlyTR 25-04-13 04:06

Is there a cheat program for the PC version yet? If there is and it's similar to the one from TRLAU, can someone PLEASE pass through the thorn bushes in the Shantay Town underneath where the lift takes Lara to the beach? I wanna know what's behind them.

hayden 25-04-13 04:08

^ It would just be a very small space as it's where the animals spawn from.
