Who knew our lil girl could reference AOD and THE SKELETON FILLED CATACOMBS THAT I WANTED HER TO GO INTO WITH ARDENT PIZZA. D:

"Reminds me of the Catacombs beneath Paris" THIS GIRL. <3

i could cry. What if there's so much more audio we've missed!? D:

Tommy123 10-08-13 05:26

Someone needs to mine the audio files

Matie 10-08-13 08:16

It's not just the audio files that are interesting. There are remnants of the co-op mode and other things as well in the game text. For example:

Co-op:
"COOP Rope Pull"
"Acquire and equip a Relic."
"Find every relic and journal in Coop modes."

Multiplayer:
"Pick up 10 flags dropped by a teammate." --> So there was going to be a Capture the Flag mode?
"First to pick up 3 different medical supplies." (different supplies? There's only 1 type in Rescue, or maybe I misunderstood something)
"Self-revived 3 times." --> You could self-revive, not just by your teammates.
"INFILTRATE THE SCAVENGER'S STRONGHOLD AND BLOW IT UP!"
"%s Solarii killed"
"%s enemies killed"
"%s gold earned"
"DYNAMITE RECOVERED"
"picked up dynamite"
"dropped dynamite"
"recovered dynamite" --> sounds like Rescue, just with dynamites

Other/??:
"Castaways helped"
"Use Rope Arrow to Pull Up Cover"
"Kill the Armored Solarii using the Dual Kill."
"Get the treasure of the Temple of War"
"Survive the temple traps"
"Light the Lanterns to scare off the wolves" --> this is when Roth is injured and you have to retreive the medical supplies. Remember that you could light some lanters in that hub and they didn't do anything basically? Well this is why they were there. The wolves would've been a bigger threat.
And there's something about a harpoon. Hmm.

-Roli- 10-08-13 08:29

^ This! :)

And don't forget:

Queen Slayer: Kill Lara in a Queen of the Hill session :D

Matie 10-08-13 08:45

Ah yes! Totally forgot about the most interesting one! :D :tmb:

Also in the MP they say "We need to find medical supplies for the wounded" or something like that, but we never know who they are or where they are. In the game files their text can be found too and those wounded/injured people were supposed to talk!
Also in Cry for Help the survivors do try to send an SOS while charging the transmitters, something like "...hello...please...is anyone getting this...we're trapped on an island...." "... SOS...SOS...we are trapped on an island...there are others...they're ****in crazy...we need help..."

And there were some melee taunts as well. O.o

Woah. In my game she never said that either.

tomee 10-08-13 10:22

Someone once found a small hint about something called "second wind"
Turns out that was a skill that healed Lara back to 100% once she reached zero health. It was going to be usable once after visiting a camp site.

trfanX34 10-08-13 10:42

^ That was me. I still have a screenshot of that I think.

FreakRaider 10-08-13 11:17

When I activate all upgrades on the Yamatai Patch, there is a box on the right, when you go to the base camp. It says something like "Getting salvage upgrades 'long breath'". (Sorry, my version is german, and I am not good in translation :p)
So maybe Lara was meant to go swimming? Or just holding her breath, so the solarii can't hear her.

larafan25 10-08-13 18:26

woooaaa

soo many interesting details. Who knows how cooperative mp will be in da next game!:D

Oooooh! I want Lara to say thay in my game! D:

Maybe if you take it slow and hang around longer like she did, then Lara will say that line. Definitely gonna try it on my next playthrough. :D

Gaaaaah! As interesting as this is, and I do love knowing about these things, at the same time, I also hate it. Finding out about excluded content and whatnot. It always gives me the feeling of "what if" and "they really should have put that in!" D: Well, thanks for sharing all the same. :D

Samantha’s mother is a Portuguese model who was working in LA when she met Sam’s father, a media mogul from Japan. Growing up she moved a lot, not just down the street, but between continents. As a result Samantha was often the outsider in school, and gained attention by being a bit of a wild child.

Samantha is a budding documentary filmmaker and like Lara has a passion for uncovering the untold stories of the world. Despite her rebellious streak, Samantha has extremely expensive taste in clothes. Sam really can’t understand why Lara refuses to touch her fortune, and sometimes ribs her about it, but she doesn’t let it get in the way of their friendship.

Samantha and Lara share a feeling of being out of place in the world and feed on each other’s thirst for adventure.

After serving two combat tours with the RMC (Royal Marine Commandos) Roth left the military and put his specialized skills to use as wreck-diver and freelance treasure-hunter. Roth traveled the world, earning a reputation for toughness, competence, and a willingness to bend inconvenient laws restricting traffic in historical artifacts. Those qualities attracted the attention of wealthy private collectors including Lara’s parents. For several years, Roth accompanied Richard Croft on over a dozen treasure-hunting expeditions, acting as a guide and, when necessary, bodyguard.

Roth has modeled his style of leadership on that of his hero, the explorer Ernest Shackleton. The welfare and safety of his crew is paramount to Roth and he prides himself on instinctively knowing who is going to make a good crewmember. He is also a hands-on leader who knows how to boost the morale of his shipmates, have fun and remain both optimistic and realistic.

Joslin ‘Jos’ Reyes grew up in one of the roughest neighborhoods of Queens, New York. She’s straight talking and no nonsense, but has warm side she doesn’t share easily. She is also fiercely loyal and someone you really wouldn’t want to get on the wrong side of. After being accused for the murder of a local gang leader, Reyes was suspended from the NYPD. Due to a natural affinity with engines, she re-trained and found work as a mechanic.

Reyes and Roth have known each other for 10 years, and on occasion she works on his ship as chief mechanic. Reyes has a 6-year-old daughter, Alisha. Alisha often lives with Reyes’ sister when she’s off working with ‘Uncle Roth’. Reyes hates being away from her, but Roth pays better than any garage she’s ever worked for. Getting back home to her daughter is always Reyes’ main motivation. One day she’d like to make enough money to open her own garage and spend more time with her daughter. Because of Alisha, Reyes won’t sacrifice herself for anyone, but will still put herself in danger for people when her cop training kicks in.

Dr. Whitman studied at Harvard and is both an expert in Archaeology and Anthropology. He also took his PHD at Cambridge University in the UK and taught at many schools around the world. However, over the last few years Whitman has moved into TV series and documentary making and became quite a popular presenter with a successful range of tie-in books. This has made him both a golden-boy and a black-sheep to the archaeological community. The former for increasing exposure and interest in archaeology and the latter for ‘selling his soul to TV’. Dr. Whitman has had a bit of a run of bad fortune and only recently emerged from a messy divorce.

His TV series is also in danger of not being renewed unless he finds some new and exciting angle; a problem that he’s not keen to share with the rest of the crew. He privately hopes that the trip will give him material for a new TV series and, along with Sam’s footage, the commissioning editors will come crawling to him.

His strength and almost preternatural ability to detect danger made him a popular member of his unit. And his ability to prepare and cook almost anything didn’t hurt either.

After sustaining injuries in the line of duty, Jonah was honorably discharged and went to work as a chef in his sister’s café in Ngapuhi. While in New Zealand, Roth encountered Jonah dockside carrying four crates of seafood at once. Impressed by his strength (and later his cooking), Roth offered him a place on the Endurance.

Wait, Alisha is 6yo then?

TEMPLE TRAPS?!?!?!

There was so much content cut!!

Matie 12-08-13 09:10

I think they also mentioned it in one of the podcasts, that they planned a co-op mode, but later on it wasn't included, as it was too ambitious... http://i.imgur.com/CBt7Fcy.gif
And I foggily remember something like this being said there: this is why we got the side characters (Reyes, Jonah and the others), I'm not sure though, it's been months since I've read this. It could explain some weak points of the story at least.

And I forgot to include some in my list, these were also taken out, they're among the Prowesses & Setbacks:
Code:

Gatekeeper
Open or closed 5 gates.

Vertigo
Climb 20 ledges.

Relay
Pick up 10 flags dropped by a teammate.

Grabby
First to pick up 3 different medical supplies.

Comeback Kid
Self-revived 3 times.

UNBREAKABLE
Self-revived 5 times.

REVENANT
Self-revived 8 times.

Nom Nom
Consumed 4 medical supplies during the match.

I got your back
Save an ally 3 times from a Seize attack.

Curator
Find every relic and journal in Coop modes.

tomee 12-08-13 10:37

I guess, it's almost official that the next game will have co-op then. :|

_Ninja_ 12-08-13 10:51

Wonderful... I honestly believe coop is worse than competitive multiplayer.

One can argue competetive multiplayer takes away resources form the single player campaign. Coop however does more than that.

At best it it derives sp players of some story elements that are reserved for a separate coop campaign.

And at worst (the one I'm most scared of) it dilutes the single player campaign by having to accommodate both, having that designated coop companion that doesn't fit in my sp, puts limitations on story execution by having to work for either one or two players.

If it's a separate mode from the main campaign, and it's developed by another studio, neither competitive nor cooperative is going to take away from the single player campaign.

or perhaps a plot point for the comics.

Well...

The copter that came in to save Lara and Roth (which went down) was Freighter Trinity. It seems like Trinity is some sort of organization related to ... I guess unexplainable, natural phenomenas...

I really don't know. I just hope her mom or dad aren't in this organization.
