Comparability with TR3
 
Hi all.

Is TR3 and Gold similar to tr2 in which main.sfx and game executable are actually different? What are the known differences if any

The only thing I remember is Sophia Leigh cannot be killed with your weapons when using the regular TR3 exe with Gold. I'm not sure about the sfx files being different.

Thankyou for the clarification guys. Actually got my copy working just now.

Seems every sound in the TLA main.sfx from 50 or so onwards (after Laras default sounds) are mixed up completely opposite to the default tr3. Lord knows why they did that just for the sake of a few sounds.

Anyway my next question is - can someone screenshot their file list and modified dates of ORIGINAL levels? I've my Japanese counterparts working and would like to see if any exclusive additions or subtractions were made :)

Sophia Leigh is immune to Lara's weapons, but she can be killed when Lara shoots at the electrical cabinet.
In the DLC, the electrical cabinet is invisible and it's placed on the top of the palace, in the same square where Sophia ends her path, so, if Lara shoots at Sophia with the bazooka, she has more probabilities to hit the electrical cabinet :)

The electrical box is there because you can't place the Sophia object without it, but the TR3 Gold exe is modified to allow Sophia to die without the Box being shot. If you use the original TR3 exe then Sophia can't die.

In TR2 Gold, they used The TR1 Bear code for one of the TR2 slots because there is an icebear in the second or third level.
In TR3, i think they only swapped or deleted sounds in the Main.SFX.

LGG is right, I can confirm the cabinet it's invisible, I've just checked some days ago the .tr file for getting some objects for my level
The new gold exe (afaik) only fixed the fade bug, where you can save the game during a fade, which then causes the textures load glitch

There are more changes in the gold .exe. It's impossible to kill Sophia if you use the original tomb3.exe and you can't get the Desert Eagle secret in Sleeping with the Fishes.
The gold team must have slowed down the train trap because the enemy submarine moves too fast to dodge with the original .exe (the enemy submarine is the Aldwych train trap with a different model)

I found a bug with Sophia in both games:
When Lara shoots the cabinet Sophia dies, but the sparkles are on Lara, not on Sophia :D

You can use TR3 exe to play TLA, but obviously the number of secrets won't match.

Also, after Sleeping with the Fishes level, the "Select your adventure" globe will show up. You need to choose South Pacific to carry on playing, otherwise the game will crash.

You can also use TR3TLA exe to play TR3, and it will work, but you won't be able to choose your adventure. The order will be India --> Pacific --> London --> Nevada --> Antarctica.

So yeah, they're largely compatible, but there still are some differences.

I think what was meant was that the sounds themselves are the same, though they have been reordered in MAIN.SFX.
