@CrystalDKarl
Long week in London doing the pre-E3 thing, so tired. Back to SF tomorrow, then LA for judges event and then back to London again in 10 days

_Awestruck_ 11-05-12 22:36

He's probably just speaking generally. As in all of the details and planning that goes into planning prior to E3 itself.

And that means judges week is next week. Nothing really came from it last year, but there was a cool photo album that Meagan made for it. Maybe they'll take more photos of the setup this year.

TippingWater 11-05-12 22:37

I guess our best bet at this time would be to just wait for E3 :).

Or the pre-E3 show in which there is totally going to be a TR trailer.

We might as well log off and come back in June, they ain't gonna release **** this is ridiculous...

_Awestruck_ 11-05-12 22:38

Or May 31st, which many believe is an important date.

Yeah, I'm not getting my hopes up for anything else right now, no matter how many things Karl tweets about. :pi:

Lukass 11-05-12 22:39

I'm waiting for 31st May. Deffo!

scremanie 11-05-12 22:40

Of course nothing is going to be released until E3. It's only logical....

slavo120 11-05-12 22:42

i love and hate these tweets at once ..make me exciting but who knows what "things" karl thinks ...seems like nothing for us :(

Which is why other games are releasing stuff left and right before E3. Their marketing teams must all be so illogical!

Why put your hopes up for something that might not even happen? Just look forward to E3 and if anything comes before it will be a plus. Remember - E3.

No one will listen. It seems like stone-cold logic has no place with these people.

If they reveal the trailer 31st May I'll be happy, if not, I'll be happy to wait a few more days for E3. It's not like I'm going to be devastated ;)

Care to make a list for me? I must be under a rock.

TippingWater 11-05-12 22:56

I still cannot get over how good the alpha version of the game looked. I honestly believe, well based on what I have seen so far of the game, leaked video included that this game has to be one of the most beautiful and realistic video games ever made :o. It looks too good to be true :p. Maybe I am a bit biased, but Uncharted for example despite the fact that it has higher res models and textures it feels more cartoony than Tomb Raider, actually the opening cocoon scene looks really realistic, well until Lara catches fire and starts falling down.

King.Louie 11-05-12 23:04

I thought The E3 and leaked vid were before the game reached Alpha?

They were.

Assassin's Creed 3
Hitman Absolution

Mikky 11-05-12 23:05

My expectations for the graphics are actually kinda low. I just can't imagine them looking that much improved from the screenshots and the game will never look as good as Uncharted 3, imo. I really hope I'm proven wrong though and I'll be wow-ed at E3. I literally wanna say, "Wow, the graphics are amazing!"

I actually see that happening, well but of course the graphics won't be on par with Uncharted, but they actually do not need to be. I was more than satisfied even with Angel of Darkness' graphics :p.

People seem to be obsessed with how pretty or realistic games are rather than the gameplay. It's quite sad really.

Yeah this.

Though when I think of having graphics like Uncharted 3, it feels like thinking about icecream after eating 100 pounds of icecream.

Graphics are just as important as gameplay, and to the masses they graphics are even more important than the gameplay.Like it or not, it's just the way it is.

It won't be worse than Underworld (the pre-alpha footage looks 10x better than TRU) and TRU actually looked awesome.

That's when it really bothers me.

Although, some of the most beautiful games I've played have actually been Last Gen. I think realism is what people want. Although, pretty graphics don't make a good game.

Weemanply109 11-05-12 23:26

Pretty graphics can add to a game, though. It can give better emphasis on atmosphere. Could you imagine the TReboot with PS2 Legend graphics? It wouldn't feel the same, the atmosphere would feel much different because everything around her looks different.

Indeed, Reboot even in alphha stage looked better than TRU, mainly because of it's realistic approach in design:).

I agree, but you can have a good game with good graphics. Actually those two run hand in hand :). Look at the Assassin's Creed franchise for example :).

larafan25 11-05-12 23:28

It seems to me that TR has better graphics than AC.

Not that it means anything.

Games that have only recently been announced and are still handing out the first real info on the game? We have already had two rounds of that, so are not precisely starved for info. Waiting till E3 for the third round is hardly going to kill us. If Crystal Dynamics could have got things ready in time they would have given us something, we can see the plans were in place for some exclusive magazine articles, it just never worked out.

I could say that about some of the 8-bit games I was playing back in the 1980s. While technology advances and standards naturally climb, I'd rather Crystal rein in any urge to try and create 'videogame art'. I think visuals should be practical first and pretty second.

Linoshi Croft 11-05-12 23:28

Agreed.

I never said you couldn't. They do but still the emphasis should be put on gameplay over graphics imo.

Even though, I don't think Assassins Creed is the best example :p

leglion 11-05-12 23:30

I think every aspect of a game is equally important so they should be worked on equally.

Hmm. Good point, I agree.

LOL, I was gonna say that too. Revelations took a step back with its visuals IMO. Although taking a step back isn't necessarily a bad thing, Revelations itself is a crap game as a whole, so having shoddier visuals just compounds matters.
