We'll probally see some nude dead bodies... wich isn't that weird after all, but the gaming rules are very scrict these days.

I don't see why they would do that.

I'm not that offended by nudity anyway so that's not an excuse for me anyway, but that's just me.

tampi 23-11-12 19:34

This conversation made me want to post an animated gif. (In an effort to make the thug, nothing more.)

Why wouldn't they... Alot of games do it nowaday. I don't mean.. over the top nude, but breast to start with.

I'm not sure but when a game has that it's M-rated right away. Not to forget the possible goryness of the new TR. :pi:

And about the offended.. I think it's a form of art anyway. Its just a humand body, people shouldn't overreact...

tampi 23-11-12 19:57

According to the context in which a nude is shown can incite some feelings or others, but I honestly do not think this is the case. I still think that 18 + is given by scenes of violence (and we have seen some already), the rough language or blood.

nevillet 23-11-12 20:11

Confused. Is the game M or 18+ ?
Not that it changes anything, just wondering.

Man, I need a Demo soooooooooooo bad........

I think M is the American ESRB rating, the 18+ is the European PEGI rating.

Mikky 23-11-12 20:19

The game is 18+ simply because of the gore, violence and offensive language.

Anyway, shouldn't we be getting a new podcast soon? Hasn't Meagan said anything? Anyone know?

Weemanply109 23-11-12 20:35

I really don't see why this game judging from the gore-ish content, possible swearing and violent themes we've seen/heard of - shouldn't be 18+?

I can understand why a game containing sexual content (and I don't mean nudity) , escessive swearing and violence would be 18+ but I don't think TR would be gory death this, gory death that all the time, like God of War for example, or at least shouldn't because that would honestly murder it!

Fyler 23-11-12 22:47

I see if you pre-order you get an extra "challenge tomb" on Amazon. Do we know anything about that right now? I'm still waiting for the Tomb Raider Demo on PSN or something.

The rape attempt scene is enough to warrant it's age certificate, imo.

Evan C. 23-11-12 23:04

It's more about to use certain violent elements to tell a survivor story. Being mature means also being able to tell a story on a different level to a different audience, not everything goes by gore, even knowing the game is going to have it.

Story.

As much as I moan anyway about such unnecessary things as an overly elaborate plot, now that games have all this context because of it, the classification boards have to take all that into account when rating it. You can have a game that has rubbish gameplay, no visual gore or violence, but a contentious story. Look at Rule of Rose on the PS2 as an example, it was banned in Australia, various European countries tried to ban it and the publisher had to withdraw it from the UK before it was released. The game itself is rubbish, but it has a story about child abuse.

I'm pretty sure that's fan made. We've seen the official box art and it has the full picture of Lara in the cave/alcove. At least I hope they're sticking to that one. This one is nice, but it doesn't have quite the same effect as the official/other one.

Oh wait, it says the Collector's eddition...hmm, I dunno now. Maybe CD just chose the edited pic for the CE, the standard editions seems to still have the original pic.

Isn't that the survival edition packaging? I remember a special box (not the tin) for one of the 65 billion editions and I think that was it. :p
Either way, it's really nice. They should have gone with a closer shot for the cover.

If it was a full-fledged rape, maybe. But all he did was feel and sniff her. That's not enough to give it an M rating :p

the challenge tomb is from the GameStop pre-order, not Amazon. Amazon gets an extra outfit and an art book. Look here for all the pre-order info...

I'm not just talking about that, though. After she breaks from his grip, she basically blows his head open with a gun, and not to mention the context of the scene is pretty much aimed at a mature audience, not 12 year olds.

Exactly. :p

It's already been confirmed that the game will be rated M (18+) anyway.

Oh, I didn't know you meant the entire scene :p Then yeah, you'd be right.

We've heard the s word and the f word so far. Not sure if that makes a difference.
I think it'll be

Violence/Gore
Sexual Themes
Maybe Alcohol
Language

JsotoTRSaga 24-11-12 04:52

Even if the game is rated M or 18+ it shouldn't be enough to make this section 18+ bc that's when actually this discussion started early today. If this section ever gets to be 18+ or the forum even then the Resident Evil threads & the GTA5's threads will need to become 18+ as well and if that has not happened yet then i see no reason for a Lonely forum without minors. I'm 18 myself but i wouldn't like to be in a forum where almost all of the members where left out due to a drastic age restriction without point. However i highly doubt we will have any other type of ''Sexual themes'' in the game other than the attempted ''Rape'' which IMO it's a natural scene that is seen in Soap Operas, TV Shows and movies, so it's pointless..:whi:

It was listed on American Amazon as Collector´s Edition. There is version for Xbox as well. I think, and if you look at the form of the cover, it is the same as the Endurance Survival Kit tin. And it makes sense, because the CE can´t be placed in the stores only as it is as it doesn´t have written Tomb Raider anywhere on it. My guess is that this is the cover of the whole package of Collector´s Edition.

EDIT:
Magazine PLAY will have an article about TR in the next issue (out Dec. 20th). In the preview it says: something hands on with Lara´s new adventure.

SpyrosMonster 24-11-12 13:28

I thought that trl online said gore and swearing will be ok to post only for the new TR videos in this forum.

Yep, footage of in-game violence and/or swearing will be okay. But only the actual footage from the game. It's my understanding that if, for example, someone quoted Lara or another character swearing then they'll face the same punishment as though they'd said it for no reason.

Evan C. 24-11-12 14:14

Yes, you're right, wich is kinda fair.

Spong 24-11-12 14:27

Yeah, seeing as the board has a age limit of 13, I think being allowed to post unedited footage from the game is more than fair.

I'm genuinely curious to see how the Eidos board will deal with it. That place is official, they have to adhere to the game's rating, surely? It's fine now while the game isn't available, but once it is are they going to allow people to post the violence and swearing at all?

klona 24-11-12 15:04

Okay, so I was searching amazon for various of things then I came across this:

Possible new trailer reveal for TR. :jmp:

Clues:
  • Meagan Marie told the next trailer will be shown at a non-consumer show.
  • Spike VGA 2012 award will be held on December 7 which is a non-consumer show and each year around 15 trailers shown in that show.
  • CrystalD is going to attend this year's VGA as TR is nominated as Most anticipated GOTY 2013. (They are going to see how GTA V takes the crown though.)
