The coincidence between Lara smiling and walking into the black and people saying she is saying goodbye to us makes me giggle.

So yeah, I did want to comment on it because you reminded me of it. It makes me giggle because Core didn't intend that final scene to be a goodbye but it ended up being a goodbye. That's what i'm trying to say.

AoD is my fav Tomb Raider as well. Such a beautiful disaster :').

Over the years I have come to think that "Lara on the run" was symbolism for how Tomb Raider's fame was out of control at the time. For how this great game was going to be produced and everyone just attacked it and ended up killing it.

I actually imagined an angry crowd randomly attacking and killing AOD Lara,and laughed!

Lara was like a ghost in AOD, brought back in retcon after the developers had already decided that she would die in the Last Revelation. It was almost like the developers made her like that on purpose. We'll bring her back but she'll be dead on the inside.

I disagree. It was never up to CORE to decide that TR would end. And no way in hell would Eidos just end the franchise. That was never going to happen. I think CORE was fed-up with having to crank out a game annually, giving them no time whatsoever to actually develop their technology. Under Eidos, CORE was doomed because of this. Lara in AOD was recognizable as the Lara from the classics.

And who knows what will happen now that SE experiences jolting losses because of the money they poured in to their AAA games with underwhelming financial results. Will TR now be slated to be cranked out every two years now, with less showiness? CD may be in the same vivacious situation as CORE once was (since they too only have time to produce TR--a game that hasn't met financial expectations since Legend)

I want this forum to create a community TR game.

No stawp.

I don't mean create a game. I mean for fun, and for the experience, and to learn about compromises and how much thought is involved, I'd like or us to conceptualize a Tomb Raider game.

That means thinking and polling everything in a game that can be described through words or images, or related to by previous games.

I think this would be...absolutely hard, horrifying and annoying, but super fun and cool.

What would we title our TR game?

What Lara model are we using?

Of course the much deeper parts as well.

Hm. Well I wanna do it, but I don't want it to sit there as some thread that nobody posts in. It could work.

I guess we'd start simple, and say our plane is to gather as a community and conceptualize our ideal sequel to the reboot, as an example.

Though everything that is voted on should be decided in advance to keep a lean thread. I think.

While the art in itself is wonderful, for that kind of concept art to become reality would be the hugest regression ever. There's no trace left of new Lara in that drawing, safe for the bangs and her pendant. While some may like it that way, I really don't think Crystal is ever gonna go that way, it'd undo all this effort they've put in reimagining her... unless they release it as a dlc skin of some sort (which I wouldn't really mind all that much). I don't mind giving new Lara aspects of the old Lara(s), but a copy-paste from the classics really doesn't work for me.

I don't think new Lara suits the booty shorts and low-cut top either. Although I think I'd be fine if it was sort of balanced; like, if she wore shorts, that'd be fine if she had a decent shirt or coat along with it imo.

Nah, not really. I love the Classic outfit but any mod/drawing with the new Lara wearing it has been a complete failure so far.

I think because I see the new outfit as the classic one, just modernized up. So seeing her in that outfit just doesn't work.

I wouldn't mind her in shorts, just not the short shorts.

I really don't get how such a Lara would be a regression. It's not like the new Lara has any characteristics anyway unless being always scared and overprotective does count as one.

About the classic outfit being too old-fashioned I agree. I would love to see it though as her long brown trousers and blue TRA alike top. A glimpse of it was in TR2013 and I loved it.
