If her animations don't change that will just be awkward. She has clumsy animations at the beginning. They definitely should change.
|
I saw nothing about animations changing, Lara's skills and equipment change, which is not necessarily anything to do with animations changing.
Then their statement about upgrading skills doesn't make sense, because her animations (movements) are (let's be honest) clumsy in the E3 demo. How am I going to recognize she upgraded her skills? And I'm dead sure that it has been officially said her animations will change as she progresses. |

yes they did in one of the interviews if my memory serves me right i remember Karl saying that as the game progresses Lara will not act like what she act in the demo she is not gonna run like that and act like that till the game ends and it sound as an animation progression like evolution to a hardened adventurer and admit it how are we gonna be able to relate and believe that she grows and become stronger if she still act and move like that till the game ends? if you have a slightest common sense you'll get what i mean but some of here seems not able to get that this game is all about her evolution of becoming the Lara we used to know and it makes perfect sense of course her weapons and tools change but how about her animations? isn't it awkward if she still climb the way she did in the demo even if she learned so many things and toughen up , makes no sense to me at all some people here just needed to spoon fed a little and if not force it down their throat !!! |
^ lol why so angrily? :p
That's basically what I said, and thanks for proving what I said. If I only knew when and where it's been said, I'd be more than happy to post it. They said it several times her movements and abilities/skills will change in the game. |

yeah that's right we will wait and see, time flies so fast isn't it ? i am hoping for the best for the team CD and for the game and whatever this game might become whether its decent, good or crap the thing is being able to play TR game again is a Gold for me cheers! |
I had a dream last night. In it, Lara was involved in an avalanche situation, whereby she was both sliding down the snowy slope and avoiding snow boulders. It was similar to the rocks falling scene on the den, but it wasn't QTE prompted. You had to figure out when to dodge and move in the right direction yourself. Lara got squished a lot.
|
^ Nice :D
I believe there's one similar scene in the game, and it's not QTE. It's the scene with the plane crashing. Lara's sliding down and you have figure out when to move to avoid being crashed by a rocks or pieces of the plane or something like that, and it's not QTE (allegedly). |

I think this is my brain telling me I want scenes like this that are complete player controlled and not prompted. I read about the plane crashing, I didn't realise Lara would have to avoid it. It would be cool if moments like that feel natural. I don't want QTEs all the time. |

Luckily, the QTE's are not going to be involved too often. And in one of those videos of the E3 demo when Lara's sliding down before she have to jump over the three platforms, Karl's saying that during the sliding you still have a control under Lara, so you have to keep the right direction. I believe if you don't, she would hit the rocky wall and get heavily injured or killed. |
@ Rude Rebel
thanks man, i was looking for that myself (browsing the media thread like crazy) :D |

Lara was injured at the start of the game, no matter how experienced she is she will probably be just as clumsy when injured. Skill upgrades usually do not change the existing animations, you just get better results, or get more animations for new moves or abilities. I somehow doubt in Karl's example Lara will be stepping back a new improved way, she will react differently because she is more confident. That is likely a cutscene. The animation did not change, what Lara does changed. She steps back some where she is likely to be doing it exactly the same way. |

She's jumping and pulling herself up exactly the same way in the leaked video as well as in the E3 demo. In that part of the game she's not injured yet she still has the same animations. She's not supposed to be more experienced in that part of them game, so no, her movements weren't clumsy because of the injury. |
Well, she was stabbed but freely ran after like 3 minutes, isn't that weird? What I am saying is that this game cannot be 100% realistic, should be also exaggerated sometimes. From what I heard we will recognize Lara as confident as she was before.
Hence, I assume that not only her constant mourning/reaction but animations might change somehow in future levels. Logically it should be like that. For instance, when I jump through a wall for the first time, my moves would probably be clumsy but second, third etc... No. Because I have already done that like 10 times. I am experienced and confident but never clumsy. |
^ You would run too if you knew some mad maniacs are following you. I agree with the rest though.

Ok, I know we're not supposed to talk about this but... JUST ONE QUESTION! in the leaked gameplay when she jumps to get on the roof of that house(?) the game JUST STOPS! and gives you an option! is it going to be always like this? because it actually sucks! -.- |

Do you mean when she's supposed to be doing the wall scramble move? It did look really odd and interferes with the immersion of the movement. I mean, even in TRU where Lara grabbed a ledge with one hand and you have to be quick to get her to grab with both hands, that seemed more fluid than having the game stop and the sign come up. Just odd. I'm thinking..and hoping, that this was for the demo purposes only. |

Totally agree. I cant wait any longer :o |
The icon that appears when the game stops is just a tutorial. You're not given an option as far as I can see, it's telling you what to do so you know later on in the game.

We didn't have an old wall scramble.

I had no idea what it was the first time though. :p I just hope we actually have to tap the button repeatedly as she actually does a scramble animation, instead of just popping up to the top like she did. |

So this means they took the old wall scramble thing and replaced it with this S**T????
I don't think it is meant to be the same as the one-handed move that's seen in TRU. Lara is seen grabbing an edge as she escapes the den and she looses the torch and that looks fine. This is a move and it looks different to how I imagine a 'scramble' to look. I mean she's missed the edge of the roof, right, so the screen stops and that box appears whilst she's mid air and next move she's reached the edge. No scrambling visible. I really hope this changes
The icon that appears when the game stops is just a tutorial. You're not given an option as far as I can see, it's telling you what to do so you know later on in the game.
It may be a tutorial, so this is the first time you experience that move, but there's no denying how strange it looks. Lara goes from missing the edge to suddenly getting it after the screen freezes. It kinda reminds me of a move seen in Core's TRAE (the trailer/game demo) where Lara hops onto an invisible ledge before making a final jump up to the ledge she was aiming for. I want to see that move without the tutorial, to see if it looks better. Everything is so fast in that leaked demo, it's hard to see Lara's movement properly. I think it's the camera, it looks kind of jerky, which I hope is improved by now. |
I don't think there is an animation for it yet.
I'm sure it will look sort of like she does at the end of the E3 demo, when she's scrambling up the incline, well at least it would look better that way in my opinion. edit: Actually I think the idea is that she jumps at the way and kicks it to jump up a bit. |
