Haha oh man. You made me click on the comments sections of a bunch of these sites and it's all brutal.

Whatever. Every popstar I like gets dragged by the general public, so it's nothing new. :p

Maybe it's because Lara Croft is a woman. ;)

Gotta admit I agree with those comments..

I'm mindly cautious about this reboot, and I'm not rushing to buy the Collector's Edition, Survival whatsoever until I'm definitely sure what they're delivering to us.

Tomb Raider was never supposed to be mainstream, sure it appealed man people in the past, because the game was unique, but it managed to stay true to its core. Oh well..

Yup! http://www.gamekings.tv/videos/inter...r-tomb-raider/

BTW: The game will be fully complete in about two weeks from now.

Nope. It's not that. Most people really wanted this game to succeed, but Crystal so far failed to impress.. The game could still be amazing and all, but as just* wrote, I feel this reboot could turn out to be pointless. Maybe it's time for another company to take over our beloved franchise.

:tmb: After Underworld, I will forever be cautious when it comes to games, especially Tomb Raider.

I would prefer it if they didn't go in the direction they went in. I understand the reboot, but I much prefer the original concepts.

There's such a ridiculous emphasis on Lara to the point where the developers make the game easier just so that its "emotional". The developers say that they have made certain parts impossible to fall to your death just because it would interrupt the story. It's all about the narrative and Lara and its so disheartening. Especially when Lara herself isn't even likable. From what we've seen I see absolutely no sense of personality or character. Only a scared panting grunting girl who's having a ****ing terrible day because its "emotional".

Exactly!:tmb: A prime example of that impossible to die situations takes place at the beginning of the game, on the rolling log. **** emotional ****! Who cares about that? Underworld flopped because it was a bad game, not because Lara was "Teflon" like *rolleyes*. I was really open minded towards this reboot, but a new bio was completely unnecessary. If they didn't screw things over with Underworld, which led them to a dead end, I bet this reboot wouldn't have been necessary in the 1st place.

I don't believe most people want Tomb Raider to succeed.

I also thought the reboot was completely pointless months ago, but now I've joined the madness and it doesn't bother me at all anymore. *shrug*

Lara being transformed from a badass chick to a random chick is kind of annoying though, but obviously we're supposed to see her grow into the Lara we know and love, so it's too early to harp on that. :)

The thing is, it seems they're using Lara as the selling point of this game. And that's so wrong. No one cares. :(

I don't know. I hope the game manages to really surprise me, but if not I'll pick up Far Cry 3. It's virtually the same elements and looks a ton better imo.

Stevo505 05-12-12 08:15

It doesn't look the same besides the setting and I suppose the story. One is a FPS and the other is a third person platformer.

just*raidin*tomb 05-12-12 08:19

It's a game about an average guy getting on a hostile island and saving his friends. There are horrible crazy people and tombs and wildlife.

Oh and its open world.

Eh either way is doesn't matter. I hope Tomb Raider is a fantastic game. I really do. I keep changing my mind from being excited to being completely crushed. It's annoying how inconsistent my feelings for this game are. And seems a lot of other people are the same way according to the articles and some comments.

That's not even the reason why I am not fully sold by this reboot. I just feel like it is pointless.. Lara's personality was kinda like a blank canvas, and to be quite honest it worked, because the selling points were puzzles and exploration.

The 1st Tomb Raider game that I have played was Tomb Raider II on the PC, which was a pirated copy (yeah **** me, but I was only 12), and as a result of that it did not include music, FMV's or even in-game cutscenes, yet I fell in love with Lara, because of the stuff that she did in game. Also the gameplay was amazing at that time, considering that it was the second third person game after The 5th Element that I've played. So what I am trying to point out is that Lara is nothing more than an avatar, and the game could have continued being successful without people needing to know her origins. Of course as long as the gameplay was flawless.

I kinda hate FC3, but I have not really followed it so I am biased. All those trailers about insanity got the best of me. My brother loves it though. Might give it a chance once I can afford to buy it :). Yeah, with CD it's all about Lara :o. Let's hope that in Tomb Raider II the focus will be the gameplay.

I actually like how Crystal humanized Lara with the trilogy. I'll have to see more of the reboot before I pan it.

I think the origins story is just being used as a vehicle to pump out more games and open more possibilities.... and so Lara won't be 50 years old come next release. ;)

Want a 90's style TR game? Play the oldies tbh. The rest of us are moving forward. :p

NCFirebolt21 05-12-12 09:01

I'm not going to judge the reboot by what critics are saying right now, till the game's release in March. So far, keeping my hopes high up for it.
Also, eagerly waiting for the trailer on Friday.

Shame people here are only picking up on that now. It's arguable that Crystal have been doing it since they got the franchise, but it's as plain as the nose on your face in TR9. Crystal absolutely believe, if it's got Lara in it, then they can justify calling the game Tomb Raider. And that's so far wide of the mark that it just isn't funny.

Here is one to compare. Reboot Lara is much more detailed. Love it!

Pozdrav i tebi :wve::p

One element I especially like is the fact that the hub will actually be a living place, and that the scavangers will be reacting to things you do throughout the game. They nailed it with that one.

Other aspects of the game seem just... well bad.

Don't get me wrong, I still think this will be a good game.
But I feel, from the original concepts, that they had a game of the generation, something that will define a new genre in gaming, on thier hands. And through poor decisions they took in order to cater the general public, they abandoned some elements that would make it potentially great.

I don't know, I hope I'm wrong, but from what I've seen so far, this game looks like it will make no impact what so ever and will be forgoten in a matter of months.

So now we're posting comments of strangers behind the computer? You guys are so dumb sometimes no offence but there are tons of positive comments aswell and no one has posted them yet which just proves that you guys love to bring negativity in here.

I should really start avoiding this place, it's just sad.

So why didn't you post some of those positive comments as a productive counterbalance instead of bringing yourself down to the same level and having an unjustified & unfair bitch at people?

anotherAODfan 05-12-12 13:15

My god

in just 4-5 days people have done a complete 180 degree view change with regards to the game

I myself don't know what to think. On one hand the game has good atmosphere and all those side tombs and collectables sound great , but on the other hand combat seems to be snatching the spotlight away from the tombs and exploration.

Not Underworld Lara looking like an unsatisfied blow up doll in comparison! I mean, what type of flawless shade!

A German site said that one of the DLC's will be a prologue, I'm going to die if this is true.

It could mean on the ship, which wouldn't be half bad tbh.

They wanted a dramatic beginning so maybe it just didn't fit but I don't care i'll definitely buy the DLC.

Linoshi Croft 05-12-12 16:28

An epilogue (within game) might remove some of the mystery too.

Ohhh... I don't think so. I like that the game starts like that. It would be kinda weird playing before the shipwreck. http://www.bytheway.gr/images/basicsmiles/worry.gif

We already know that the game stars with Lara washed ashore, seeing other survivors but then being hit over the head and dragged away. I like the abrupt introduction, it throws you right into it.

This. Also I like the idea of that DLC because you are not losing anything (story side) If you don't play it.
Looks like CD devs are learning from their mistakes... :)
