I hope so! I am Cbl on trle.net and posted a review there. As I said in my review, I liked the architecture and the openness, even though there were areas where you could improve in the future. TR3 India levels have always been some of my favorites. I especially enjoyed the water level changing puzzles, and I liked the last area outside where Lara could run around the treetops.

Titak 17-11-19 10:45

Practice makes perfect. :D

When it comes to natural environments, like a jungle, it is always nice to have small mounts/dents in the floor. So instead of being perfectly flat, it is nice to raise/lower the floor here and there to make it uneven.
Just with one- or two-clicks.

Thank you. For some reason I am not really good at building closed off/claustrophobic spaces like the Jungle of TR3(especially the second level of the game).
At the beginning I tried making the jungle very limited, dark and claustrophobic. But I didn't like how it looked and went with my inner voice, making it lighted, wide and somewhat explorable.

Thankfully I got very little amount of harsh comments, I am not a professional level builder and some of the other participants are very very good at TRLE. Some people forgot that and judged as if I am equally talented. And some people, even if they didn't like the overall game, gave credits to the aspects they've liked. So it is generally liked. Most of the people who reviewed on TRLE.net see me as a promising builder for my future works. So who knows, maybe I can continue making levels sometime.

Although you're new to level building, I really enjoyed your level. Don't let harsh (unfair) criticism let you down! It was a good level, especially for a debut level. The editor is basically just working with boxes, so creating an organic jungle area is not an easy pick for your debut! Keep practicing and study other levels and in no time you'll be among the top!

I retextured all the classics to have 'beta' blank textures to show the shape of the world.. really helps me to look at areas with lighting etc applied in this way.
I replayed all the classics like this to get to grips with the design.
This was a loooong time ago though, kinda neglected trle for a while

Would love to know how some of these amazing effects were actually pulled off (i know some are plugins)
DanielSirPonces and LoreRaider - probably two of the best levels I've played in a long time that actually felt like a classic TR level - thanks to the extra stuff we are now able to do thanks to new editors and techniques.
I wish one day that all classic enemies and such would eventually be possible

Just seeing things like reverb and the classic inventory back - beautiful

SrDanielPonces 17-11-19 17:47

The reverb in Lore's Puna's Revenge is basically a bunch of GlobalTriggers that will play a pre-reverbed sound (in a different sound slot) everytime xyz sounds were played.

What do you mean by your sentence? Even though builders had help and suggestions from others, doesn't make their work less than others.
For example, Lore tested my first beta testing phase. He helped me saying which parts could be improved, how could I make it better and also suggested what I should do to make the caves prettier (add Tr1 vines and use some Tr3 Gold textures). It ended up being my effort and work despite being some others suggestion.

No one worked directly on the others levels.

Awww.. sorry - I didn't mean to cause offence. I struggle wording things sometimes and it comes off as really rude.
I realised what I had put and was like OMG.. *facepalm*
What you said (bold) is what I was getting at.
But I completely understand your point

I honestly dunno who to chose for 1st place! Gonna be a tough one :)
Still need to play NINE more levels... but now I have more free time I can get back to playing them again

noonbob 17-11-19 18:25

You don't even want to know how many levels I'm stuck on :p

The Russian Base - Amazing game but I've just given up.
Reggie's - Great game but I'm stuck
Sleeping with the fishes - Another great game but I am stuck.
SrDanielPonces - Just started and I'm trying to get to the bottom but keep dying. I must be going the wrong way right?

Without trying to be spoilery .. yes - onwards and upwards

One of the reasons I love this level.. all the little details and neat tricks - coz I too got stumpted, until I started thinking outside the 'standard TR' box

Probably the ONLY level so far I have given up on is In The Highlands..
I just have no clue where to go after the crowbar, and the fact I could run around the entire section due to jumping over barriers etc.. confused me even more - I couldn't tell if I have gone out of bounds, or if these parts were legit parts of the level (sorry to the builder)

I've been using DoggettTV's amazing YT walkthroughs (only occassionally mind) if I got super stuck.. but he hadn't played that level yet so..

Yep. The bottom is where you came from so there's no point in going down. You can interact with the pipe though :)

Thanks.. I just wish I'm made it a bit longer and added some more gameplay elements - ah well. lesson learnt.

@noonbob - only way I noticed is that 'said object' seemed to be suspiciously alligned to the grid edge - I was like.. hmmm maybe what if?
Loved it!

Already got a neat idea for my next project - something I wanted to do for this competition (and in all fairness, wish I HAD now)
TR2 floating islands - but with added details, waterfalls into nowhere (thanks to Sonic All Stars Racing for this idea) pools of water in the islands, and heck , maybe even some sections of Great Wall 'blended' into certain sections .. kind of like a mystical realm thing I dunno.
But I'm looking forward to making it now I have Tomb Editor to use which will make building a LOT easier

Waterfalls and a semi-Great Wall in a Floating Islands environment?! :cln: I love new ideas and this seems so different. You’d be combining the mechanics/elements of the only 2 sections I like from TRII. Looking forward to this :tmb:

hehe thanks... but I was wondering whether I keep the dark scary look.. or go for something else - like a red setting sun , or even daytime?

Hmm.. perhaps it would change the look of the level a bit TOO much :p

Pyramid of Horus - this was a beautifully made level. I loved the indoor-outdoor traversal throughout most of the level. Visually it's more attractive than a lot of tr4.

Mordyga 18-11-19 14:51

All Roads lead to Rome
What should happen after the last fight (the one with the Statue after fighting Pierre and Larson)? Nothing happens and the battle music still plays. Is it a bug?

Baslakor 20-11-19 02:37

Guys, I'm a but stuck in PhryneCroft's Monastary level! I made my way into the monastary, got myself a sixshooter and a crowbar, but I think I need to have a scope or torch to continue? :)

(Amazing level though!!!)

EDIT: You know this feeling when you're stuck in a level for days, finally put your pride aside and ask for a hint, only to find the salution immediately after? lol.

larafan25 20-11-19 05:33

Currently playing The Pyramid of Horus by Sabatu and it's so gorgeous and really nice so far.

Basically the beginning :p

I've opened the hidden hatch in one of the huts, there was nothing special down there. Thought I could shoot open the hatch for the crawl space but no.

I got up in the trees, there is a higher area I cannot reach. But I probably get there after progressing another way.

I swam in the water and went through the space that leads to the waterfall death but get out before that. The gate is shut, the other one has a key card and the maze is a turret trap.
Maybe I've stupidly walked past something (happens a lot) :p

I'm going to play again and see if I can do it.

Btw love the targets that trigger the uncharted secret sound when you shoot them. Are they secrets?

klona 21-11-19 21:40

@noonbob
You need to find and shoot all targets. Check the piranha lake floor too.

As Klona said. The x5 sign next to crawlspace door indicates the number of targets you need to find nearby. :) I'm glad you like the idea despite getting a bit stuck! Those targets aren't secrets but part of a puzzle. Some more traditional secrets are around though. :D You didn't mention getting the crowbar, make sure you pick it up from the enemy guarding the push button switch where you opened that trapdoor inside the hut. Then as Klona said, have a look underwater taking care to avoid piranhas as go in. Hope that helps as I appreciate there's no walkthrough up yet! (hopefully there will be one soon).

Teone 22-11-19 12:25

@piano_raider

Reading the walkthrough I finally spotted the secrets I missed in your game.
Congratulations! This is what I mean for secrets: alternative paths and new areas to explore. I love the one where you meet Nessie. :D
IMO secrets in a game must be few but surprising.

@Reggie

Now I'm going to find the missing secret in your game.
I spotted an hatch in the toilet where I found the armoury gun but I was not able to open it.

dcw123 22-11-19 14:36

Been watching Action Turnip play some C.A.C levels on Youtube.
My god, this guy is so friggin funny (in a nice way)
Some of the things he comes out with is pure gold! :ton:

Playing some more levels today but stuck - really trying NOT to resort to walkthroughs but sometimes things are just so ambiguous..

EDIT: Made it a little further in Puna's Revenge - love all the new editions and objects that really flesh out the level. Seeing the water rise in real time was amazing - and yet, simple to do? right.. like an animated flat object to act as the surface? I recall TRC VCI doing something small like this with the tank of water that leaks when it shatters.
Makes me wonder why Core never did such things in their levels..
The level did crash on me sadly in the beta temple area.. had to restart my pc

piano_raider 22-11-19 19:30

@Teone
Really glad, you liked the secrets :D

noonbob 22-11-19 20:23

@klona @Reggie Thank you. I am going to play now :)

@SrDanielPonces Finally finished Hostile Waters and you absolutely did it! I knew you would given your amazing ORC Level. I loved every minute  What an experience.
Lara + Conveyor Belt =
I could praise so much but this post would be paragraphs long.
Have you ever thought about making a whole game? I know it would take forever but you are SO talented. Please?
So much detail/effort was put into this and it shows. I truly hope your level goes down in history and makes it into the TRLE Hall Of Fame :tmb:

All of this..
Definitely come a long way since the early days of TR2 Remake all those years ago (at least, if feels like a long time ago) heehee
Those mini cutscenes are just to die for..

Hopefully with Tomb Editor and other improvements means more builders can reach the same level of production as this...

CheshireBitch 23-11-19 10:46

Just finished four more levels:

Pyramid of Horus by Sabatu
It was awesome ! I loved the TR4 vibes and the differents ambiance from the outside one to the dark one inside. Riddles were clever ! It was very beautiful, I'm not a big fan of ropes but it was nice. Difficulty is very well balanced in my opinion : You get stuck or die but looking around with a bit more of attention and you found the way. The only down for me is the ending: sure she founds a big treasure, lot of gold, but she doesn't pick up anything. She pulls a vase and then boom the end. We don't even get to see the outside or something. I felt a bit frustrated to have such a simple ending after all of that amazing visuals. But overall the level is very good and feels very classic

Lost in the amazon by Reggie
I LOVED it, the traps in the begging made me laugh a lot, "pull this". :vlol: I admit I did it blindly lol. I LOVED that it is half jungle, half high-tech, half alien stuff. Very very creative in my opinion ! It reminded me of TR3 gold and how creative this team was but with your level it's even more incredible because you're alone to build it. It's also beautiful and big but feels very classic and clostrophobic at the same time. I admit that the ending got me a bit frustrated as we don't get to see the prize, or we never heard again about that woman sending help messages in French at the beginning (this got me so freaked out because of what she's saying: "We're locked inside, he is outside", well wait, I'm outside too :yik: ) I wish there was a third level even short, so we could know what Lara founds inside that nice looking temple !
Congratulations Reggie, it's a very good level imo !

Legacy of the Scion by Baslakor
I loved the TR1 vibe in this one, not a big fan of the beginning but I started really like it when we enter the main big room with lots of water and the big temple ! I love how you put into it a story with journals and visions ! I loved how everything is interconnected in this big room. It's not too hard and we can figure things out with many clues.

All roads lead to Rome - LOTRKingLuis
Same type of level as me !! So it was very interesting to play this one in particular ! It was a very good level, it felt huge with many rooms and many things to do. At some point I lost track of what I was supposed to do and got some help from the walkthrough. I really loved the cutscenes, and my favorite part is the ending ! Humour is always a nice touch in Tomb Raider. Only found two secrets ! If I'm not mistaking you said a few days ago that you wanted to make more of this ? Can't wait to see your version of the russian and VCI levels !

Can't wait for more!

On a side note - just started another classic project, and I really wish I'd picked this for the competition LOL
Ah well.. least I learnt from it.

I've installed all the classic plugins, and even managed to get the classic pushblock and pickup animations 100% working as they should..
I even removed TR4 moves such as shimmying around corners.
Using the new TR3 style aiming system is amazing - the fact Lara can now stay locked on to enemies when they run away :)
(Now if only I could figure out a way to hide the green tint from the flare start up effect)

I even stumbled upon some old outfits I made like my TR1/4 hybrid Lara without the joints (yet improved meshes to hide this fact) which would be amazing to use for cutscenes too as an animating object

My thirst for level building and the classic has been revived thanks to this competition - so for that AgentXP and others - I thank you :D

Yes! Glad to hear it :) Of course it does and I truly appreciate the quality. Fingers crossed for this competition ;)

The main menu sequences are too beautiful.

Just finished Puna's Revenge after like a playtime of nearly 3 hours LOL

Loved it for the most part, and I was blown away by the Tomb Editor effects like moving rooms (TR1 atlantis vibes) and trees swaying..
Some .. unique.. design choices here and there kind of made me mark it down though which was a real shame, as the rest of the level was stunning - a true tribute to TR3 and I liked seeing the level in a darker setting.

Onto Sleeping With The Fishes next - I love underwater levels SO much ^^)

I went old school and scribbled notes pros and cons for every level so far in a big pad of paper - then going to condense all that down into final scores..
Not sure how to review - I don't wanna post a massive review on 17 levels - so maybe I'll just make a list from #1 to #17 and then only post a mini review on the Top 5?

EDIT: Made a funny observation today..
I noticed SirDanielPonces, LoreRaider and TombRaiderxii all beta tested each others levels.. and get this..
all 3 levels have an Aqualung which Lara can use underwater! heheh
I love underwater levels - so it was a breath of fresh air (pun intended) to be able to swim around at leisure without the panic of constantly finding air pockets (even though sometimes thats part of the fun/challenge in TR)

Oh jeez.. all these levels are top notch - its gonna be hard to try and whittle it down to first place but love to you all <3

A while back I made a YT gaming channel and I never even really put anything up because of insanely long editing time and uploading took me forever..
Really wish I'd recorded some of these levels as I played them and uploaded them.... oh well hehe
Issue is, I got stuck a LOT and would have been playing ''blind'' as they call it.. whereas other YTers like steven35175 and DoggettTV obviously recorded their 2nd runs and knew what to do already.
If anyone wants to watch the C.A.C walkthroughs or level - I'd highly recommend these two :)

The download links for Puna's Revenge and Hostile Waters won't work. :hea: I've tried from trle.net with different browsers. https://dl.tombraiderchronicles.com/trle/ lets me download, but there's only two of three files in the folder. Any idea what causes this? My anti-virus software don't seem to hold any quarantined files.

Could someone send me the packed files through SendSpace or something?

I loved every minute of the urban exploration. The level design and texturing is very solid and the atmosphere is reminiscent of TR5 Rome. I liked how well the original cutscenes with Larson and Pierre are blended here. Good job! :tmb:

I just finished Sleeping with the fishes by Tombraiderxii
It took me 2 hours ! It was great, I loved play a new version of this level, it was big and beautiful. Some kind of upgraded classic ! Sometimes it was very hard, I'm thinking of the timed runs, especially the first one, it's so so tight (at least it was for me) I almost gave up on it. But timed runs are hard to estimate because very trained people are impressive at this and other people have hard time doing it. I almost asked for a savegame lol. The other one with the trapdoor underwater was very hard too.

Other than that difficulty was very well balanced in my opinion and I loved how everything is interconnected with windows and stuff, especially the one you can climb on and see items you need on the other side, really cool !

I didn't found a single secret haha.

Great level !

Playing Monastery of the Talion and I gotta say.. I enjoyed this level a LOT.
Water and snow levels are my fave

One thing though - maybe I'm missing something..
I've shot 2 gems in the Lion statues mouths so far.. do these do anything?

I have 3 masks so far and think I'm nearing the end

Yes I did all of the 2nd level - I noticed the 2nd Lion gem on the return to the first level (once Lara has the ice gem for the door at the top of the Main Hall.

If there was only 2 lion statues.. why wasn't a camera or something showing what activated across the map - or in another 'level'
How are players supposed to know these super secret paths have opened.. hmm
Finished the level regardless 5/6 secrets found.

EDIT: Playing The Base by Dinne..
My god the combat is hard work LOL - I appreciate trying to make the combat harder but I find the overemphasis on combat a negative here..
Combat has never been TRs strongpoint - the level itself is amazing and deserving on a high score regardless..
I mean.. I'm up for a challenge but with hardly any weapons or medipacks so far (I found ammo) I got so far and died.. need to retry.
I'm loving the TRC feel and some cool platforming ideas so far..
I reached a much bigger warehouse with the crane and lots of locked doors, I have the key but it doesn't open these like in TR5
