We won't, but I'm not so sure about everyone else.
And I do care about sales. High sales means the game is successful and makes the company more money to make more games, so of course I care about that and so should everyone else, imo.
But I don't think we should be willing to sacrifice what we want or enjoy for more popular gaming trends which may have a better chance at keeping the series afloat. |
They should really start to reveal info now. Don't get me wrong, but I think of they are going to reveal info at E3, it's too late.

Say what? I have no idea what you're talking about. :vlol: When did I say that we should sacrifice anything? I was just stating that I think fans should care about sales because they are important, not that it should be the only think we should care about. |
I think I've found the weird loading screen Dark_Messiah mentioned.

^Brightness tests.
^Brightness tests.
No, it's loading screen. Dark_Messiah mentioned it after the community event. He/she said it looks like when there's no TV signal or something and some text. I think this is it. Don't like it.... |
I really hope it was a place-holder loading screen. It's horrible.
|
I really hope it was a place-holder loading screen. It's horrible.
Of course it's a place holder. Even CD wouldn't do something that stupid. :p |
No guys, that's definitely the brightness test.
|
No guys, that's definitely the brightness test.
The one in the pic may be, but the one Dark-Messiah was on about isn't, and that's horrible. @Mikky, you'd better be right :pi: :p |
This is the photo Dark-Messiah compared the loading screen too...
http://data2.blog.de/media/773/1152773_ecef56cd12_l.jpg But he said there were moving bars and that really just looks like a brightness test. :p But now seeing this picture...maybe... edit: Why does a loading screen have an button prompt with the option to continue? I don't think that's the loading screen. :/ Reminds me of the TRA brightness test. |
^ It could be just a circle and sign "loading".... exactly like the checkopoints. You can see a circle and text "checkopoint" in the demo.

I am not sure is this really the true cover I've seen in Scandinavian internet shop, but it has already TR on their "Order" list. And it has PEGI 16. So is it correct or will it be 18? (which I hope).

It's 18. There's no way a game like this with so much gore and violence could be 16. |
Okay, they might have a fanmade cover or a one they've done and put it there. Dno, it just caught my eye.
|
I live in the UK now, but I checked some Czech websites and TOMB RAIDER is 18+ in the CZR.
|
The loading screen is meant to look like a sonar or a radar, with Lara reading out notes from her current situation (clearly the current mission or objective).
I think that suits the games theme very well, and I'm excited to see it. |
@Lukass Weird. Well I think it's gonna be 18+ here too, when more content is coming into the knowledge of the shop + reviewers etc.

It's pretty weird, because I just finished watching the Community Event in Germany videos, and someone asked Meagan, whether the game is going to be really 16 or 18+ rated. There was some German guy from Square-Enix too and he said that the game is going to be M-rated. |
dont they do a 17+? im sure they do in the UK at least?

Hmm, well I believe Square-Enix more than a online shop :D |
TOMB RAIDER will be rated MA15+ in Australia. That's the highest rating any game can get, alongside Assassin's Creed and Splinter Cell. It sure as hell won't be R18+ since there's no sex in it. Duh.

^
That and plus in the UK, age ratings are different than the US. In the UK there's an option of 17+, not just 16 or 18. Different countries will have different ratings, not all are the same all the time in fact its fairly common for it to be different. |
The rating system worldwide is completely different.
An example of this would be Forgotten Sands (dont' judge me, I just picked the first game that came to mind!). It's rated PG over here for mild themes and in the UK/US it's rated 16+. So, back to TR, it won't be anything short of 15+ (here in Australia). Anyway, PEGI gave the game rating as 18+ when Turning Point premiered so UK's rating is probably fixed. |

I'm sure I've seen the ratings on the covers covers of my game. its a black background with a white 17. Edit: might have been a movie. probably got it mixed up :o |

Maybe you you saw it on an American copy of a game? ESRB is the only rating board that I can think of that uses a 17+ rating. EDIT - Just saw the edit. Oh, right. :pi: |
Probably lol nvm :p. ESRB is american as well isn't it? they have their stickers on a lot of stuff over here in UK, partly what led to my misconception. i wonder how all this works =S.
If there really is no event between GDC and E3, then I would expect the gameplay trailer to be revealed in the next few days. They said early 2012 - it is now. There is going to be an event - GDC. E3 is in June, which is not early 2012. So, let's wait and see...
and then be disappointed if they show nothing
In CD's view, early 2012 could mean E3 2012 too. Just saying. :pi:
I've just checked the exhibitors list and Square-Enix is not there, nor Crystal Dynamics.
Well, we should be getting an R rating some time this year. So, hopefully it's implemented before Tomb Raider's release, then I'd say it will be given an R rating. |

God of War director Cory Barlog is hoping to breathe new life into Lara Croft, as Square Enix studio Crystal Dynamics has just revealed that the industry veteran has joined its development team. Barlog and the rest of the San Francisco-based studio will be working on a new Tomb Raider in addition to a "yet to be announced new title." Barlog is best known for his work on Sony's God of War franchise. Following David Jaffe, Barlog served as writer/director for God of War 2, creative director for Chains of Olympus and he led story creation for Ghost of Sparta. |
^ What?
Probably TR10. |
Isn't that old news? He's the one that was hired a while ago to work on the games camera?
|
The article has been posted today though...
|
Yes, and?

Says you. This is really interesting news to me. This is definitely a good thing in my eyes. I didn't notice if it said what he is working on in the game, so I am curious. :D |
I think I heard this a while back nice for his involvement though. :)
