It doesn't look the same besides the setting and I suppose the story. One is a FPS and the other is a third person platformer.

It's a game about an average guy getting on a hostile island and saving his friends. There are horrible crazy people and tombs and wildlife.

Oh and its open world.

Eh either way is doesn't matter. I hope Tomb Raider is a fantastic game. I really do. I keep changing my mind from being excited to being completely crushed. It's annoying how inconsistent my feelings for this game are. And seems a lot of other people are the same way according to the articles and some comments.

I also thought the reboot was completely pointless months ago, but now I've joined the madness and it doesn't bother me at all anymore. *shrug*

Lara being transformed from a badass chick to a random chick is kind of annoying though, but obviously we're supposed to see her grow into the Lara we know and love, so it's too early to harp on that. :)

That's not even the reason why I am not fully sold by this reboot. I just feel like it is pointless.. Lara's personality was kinda like a blank canvas, and to be quite honest it worked, because the selling points were puzzles and exploration.

The 1st Tomb Raider game that I have played was Tomb Raider II on the PC, which was a pirated copy (yeah **** me, but I was only 12), and as a result of that it did not include music, FMV's or even in-game cutscenes, yet I fell in love with Lara, because of the stuff that she did in game. Also the gameplay was amazing at that time, considering that it was the second third person game after The 5th Element that I've played. So what I am trying to point out is that Lara is nothing more than an avatar, and the game could have continued being successful without people needing to know her origins. Of course as long as the gameplay was flawless.

I don't know. I hope the game manages to really surprise me, but if not I'll pick up Far Cry 3. It's virtually the same elements and looks a ton better imo.

I kinda hate FC3, but I have not really followed it so I am biased. All those trailers about insanity got the best of me. My brother loves it though. Might give it a chance once I can afford to buy it :). Yeah, with CD it's all about Lara :o. Let's hope that in Tomb Raider II the focus will be the gameplay.

I actually like how Crystal humanized Lara with the trilogy. I'll have to see more of the reboot before I pan it.

I think the origins story is just being used as a vehicle to pump out more games and open more possibilities.... and so Lara won't be 50 years old come next release. ;)

Want a 90's style TR game? Play the oldies tbh. The rest of us are moving forward. :p

I'm not going to judge the reboot by what critics are saying right now, till the game's release in March. So far, keeping my hopes high up for it.
Also, eagerly waiting for the trailer on Friday.

Shame people here are only picking up on that now. It's arguable that Crystal have been doing it since they got the franchise, but it's as plain as the nose on your face in TR9. Crystal absolutely believe, if it's got Lara in it, then they can justify calling the game Tomb Raider. And that's so far wide of the mark that it just isn't funny.

HAHA LOOOL XD 05-12-12 10:27

I think the third screen is from the bunker
