This thread is here to honor the life and accomplishments of iconic Tomb Raider modder, The Great Chi! Chi joined Tomb Raider Forums in 2006, and YouTube in 2008, and for the past 12 years has created insane Tomb Raider Mods and funny videos with those mods! A couple of his videos had upwards of 80,000 views, and he was able to achieve 1K subscribers on YouTube, which is no small feat for a Tomb Raider YouTuber! On March 19th, 2021, Chi's son uploaded a now-deleted video Chi had prepared before his death, stating that he had passed away. He linked some of his videos for download in the description of the video, but thanks to efforts in the community, we have been able to archive more videos, as well as some of his playable mods and original music created for some of his videos! 1. On the Navigation Bar, click on Search and then Advanced Search. 2. For the keyword enter Secret 3. For the username enter in The Great Chi, and then change the drop-down menu option to Find Threads Started by User 4. Hit Search Now, and this should have narrowed your results down to 39 threads to search through, compared to the 489 threads that Chi created during his time here. This hint is very identical to the previous hint, the only difference is for the keyword, enter in Secret Message instead of just Secret. He has been a member of TRF since 2006, and has over 1K subs on YouTube Earlier today, this video was uploaded to his channel - The video was removed from YouTube on March 25th, 2021! He has been inactive on TRF since January 14th, and his last post was on January 10th, and I have personally not PM-ed him since around October 2020. Also, with the exception of this new video, all of his videos have been wiped from his YouTube page! I am really sad to read this. He was a great modder. I remember that one time, he created a video about TRII, just because we were discussing the topic in the chat. That was really kind of him.

I also never really interacted with him but was always aware of him and his funny videos. A real character and part of TRF to me.
Oh, poor Chi. This makes me really sad. I respect that he didn't want to talk about it, but I wish we had known he was ill. :( |
This is terrible news. :( I always enjoyed reading about his vast knowledge of the Classic games. Along with the hilarious modding videos he has done as well. My personal favorite was how he nodded TRI Lara into a wheelchair.

He seemed to be well liked on the forum, and he was well into modding.
I have downloaded his videos on that Youtube video as it says its only temporary for a week, Many of them I have never seen before. I am glad he has left us them, especially that BaconLara6 video. So funny. I only recently discovered his Christmas video 2020, a lot of work had been put into it, and it was really fun. I actually gasped and yelled “no”
Wow.. this is so upsetting :( I remember him from when I first joined and he has never changed. He was always funny, enjoyable, easy to talk to, and had the best sense of humor. I loved all his jokes, always made me smile and laugh a bit, very much a celebrity around this forum IMO. Oh man, this is so sad. Actually tearing up right now. Rest In Peace , Great Chi!! Oh god, I can't believe it
Chi used to be active at Lara's Home, he used to be so fun, always making fun posts, his comedic tone and his personality always stood up the most. We became friends, we used to chat through MSN, I used to laugh a lot with him, because he would make satires of the community. I didn't even had the chance to talk with him again, I have been so busy making my map. I did checkout his christmas gift video, it was fun. You'll surely be missed Chi, but you are going to stay forever with us, I hope your passing to the Great Beyond was the best possible and you are enjoying your trip so far. Rest In Peace my friend, I'm sorry for moving away, but in the end it didn't hurt, you were surrounded by friends. |

Logged back in to pay my condolences.
I'm not on TRF much anymore, used to be in TRLE community back in the day, but I remember seeing Chi's videos pop here and there and they always gave me a good laugh. Even after moving on from TRF, I still stayed subscribed to him on Youtube and loved how utterly ridiculous and fun his videos were. Rest in peace, the Great Chi. Video Archives/Backup?

On another note, does anybody have any kind of archive/backup of some or all of Chi's videos? With conversations I've had with Chi in the past, I know many of his older videos that did not gain much traction are lost (he deleted them not only on YouTube, but from his computer.) I'm glad he was able to find Bacon Lara 6 though, because in October 2020, he informed me that all of the Bacon Lara videos had been lost, so I'm glad he was able to find at least one of them! This thought always crossed over my mind several times over the years, especially as he started deleting some of his older videos... Quote:

What saddens me the most is that now he will not be able to play my TR2 game and see his great mods in action. He was so generous, and he helped me so much. Without his mods my game wouldn't be the same. And without his help my Mystic Realm map couldn't be done. Such a great person. At least when the game is released it can serve as a homage to him. This is heartbreaking... Such a respected and esteemed member of the fandom, with exciting contributions that have entertained all of us over the years. Such a big loss, so unbelievable. I’ve been less and less active these past few years, but seeing a thread from him was always guarantee of laughter and enjoyable content.
There was one time I had trouble with the Tomb Raider Legend SCU and asked him for help. He diligently guided me through the solution process and went out of his way to do so. Thank you, Chi, I haven’t forgotten. May you rest in peace. |
