New website for custom levels
 

It's finally here... a new website for hosting custom levels!

• What is our goal?
An attempt at modernizing custom level hosting. You can register and upload your own levels, as well as submit your own reviews using a new review system. Since it will be run by multiple people, your requests should be fulfilled in a timely manner (hopefully).

• What makes this website different from other custom level hosts?
On top of what was mentioned:

◦ Claim your trle.net profile by registering with the same username
◦ You can update your level at any time
◦ A brand new review system with questionnaire-based score generation and more emphasis on text content of the review
◦ User-generated tags that can be used for level searching, and each level can have up to 10!

• When was the website developed?
It took most of 2021 to conceptualize and test our ideas, and around 5 months to develop the tangible flesh you see at the time this post was written.

• Why do you see TRLE.net profiles there?
With permission from trle.net's admin, we were allowed to reuse that data here. We are extremely thankful for his contributions to allow this website to become reality. It is in no competition with trle.net but exists alongside it. We are extremely grateful that he has been hosting our community for more than 20 years and we understand that it's not an easy task to keep up with the demands of the modernised community.

Awesome :) I made an account! Its really nice you can update the level yourself. I always felt bad bothering Michael to correct something minor Id find years later when replaying my own levels.

This website looks great. Registered myself although the confirmation email was sent to spam for some reason.

It's awesome to have a new TRLE website in 2022 ! So happy the community is still very much alive 22 years later :jmp:

Looks awesome! As a heads up, my registration email went straight into the spam folder of Outlook, don't know what you can do about it.

Also, is it ok to make suggestions here in regards to UI and usability? Would those be welcome?

Weird, when I click on the link I see in a flash some letters then the page turns black and stays black. What is going on?
April fool?? I sure hope not.

Unfortunately I’m getting the same thing. I am accessing it on my phone, and I can see the website for a moment before it turns to a plain dark blue blank background.

LOL that is definitely not an april fools joke.

Also the website is not optimized for phones yet, it will be in future.

But besides the website works perfectly for me on phone and on pc.

Same happens for me, it looks like it's only available on desktop right now.

Also just typing trcustoms.org into my browser brings me to a page that says this:

I have to type the full https:// to access the site.

It depends on which web browser you use on phone. For me it doesn't work on the Samsung Internet app but it works fine on the Chrome app.

I can't get it to load on any browsers on iOS (though they are all Safari with different names). It's ok, we can just wait for a full mobile version.

The website has some issues with Opera and Firefox browsers. :o
We're gonna try fixing this soon.

Is the database connected to the TRLE.net? I mean, if I upload a level in TRCustoms, does it appears on TRLE.net or shall we keep sending a package also to Michiel?

Our databases aren't connected. You'll have to send your package to Michael as well.

I suppose this goes for reviews as well then, does it?

Any way to view the levels ranked by rating yet? Or will this not be implemented?

There is :3
On the top bar click the Levels tab and there, on the left there is the search filter, which as the first option has sort by, if you click it you can select to sort by best rated

As for actual numbered marks like TRLE.net, I do think TRCustoms is not going to implement that, as I believe that is not the modus operandi they are going for.

Indeed there are no votes. A game can be ranked from Failure to Masterpiece.
If I guess correctly, games imported from trle database were assigned to each rating section according to their votes on trle.
Anyway rating sections are 11. Then the Masterpiece section is probably the Hall of Fame but we don't know the rules to enter that section yet.

EDIT: I just noticed that games in Masterpiece section are those rated over 9,50 on trle
Infact, for example Castle Rotenherringstein by DJ Full (9,50) is Overwhelmingly positive while The Last Saga 4 by Tomo (9,51) is Masterpiece

hmm teone u sure? to cite two recent examples, TR Advent Calendar 2021 - Another Winter Castle and the city one have more than 9.51 and are both listed as overwhelmingly positive :3

^ Yes, but the games you mention got new reviews on trcustoms.org after they were imported from trle. Maybe this makes the difference. But I don't know for sure. :)
