How to run TR3 in 2021?

do you have an nVidia graphics card? you will want dgVoodoo for TRIII but before that youre going to want to change your in-game graphics settings (namely the gamma) how you want b/c dgVoodoo will make TRIII's sunglasses option crash

if not you can just use Arsunt's TRIII patch. it isn't compatible with dgVoodoo b/c Arsunt uses a new FMV solution to deinterlace the video files which dgVoodoo can't comprehend. but here https://mega.nz/file/2X4wSawB#2pJgnUGJme0vyssIu8_f0CYmfBtqKZDISei2toSkkPs

I have an old pc (and that's why I stopped release new 3D models :( ) with amd radeon HD 6670 graphic card!

Hey

DgVoodoo works fine with AMD Radeon, just select it under the list of graphics adapters avaliable on the first page :).

For Tomb Raider 3 specifically however, you must go to the DirectX page and select 'ATI Radeon 8500' under the list of emulated video cards, otherwise you will end up with no textures in game (you must do this if your real video card is a Nvidia one as well as AMD).

Apart from that, feel free to configure the rest of the settings as you wish :D.

if they have AMD its likely they wont need dgVoodoo unless they want to play in windowed mode. a lot of TRIII's issues stem from nVidia cards

I solved the problem of playing old classic TR games six months ago, by buying a refurbished computer from Ebay with winXP, cost me £70, with free p&p.

Not bought from an individual seller, but instead bought from a refurbish computer company, you decide on spec at different costs, higher spec costs more, came with a guarantee. Price included refurbished computer and refurbished monitor, cabling, wi-fi internet connection, new mouse and new keyboard.

PC Tomb Raider Games work fine, all the way up to TRU.Its a cheap way to solve it.

PS.....I will not put up the name of Ebay companies that sell refurbished computers cheap, in case of you think I am advertising. They are easy enough to find by searching Ebay.

Yeah but no matter what video card you use, all the classic Tomb Raiders force you to watch FMVs in 640x480 but dgVoodoo lets you watch them in any resolution, eliminating the annoying resolution change every time you enter an FMV. It’s also quite nice to have anti aliasing as a bonus to that :).

For now I'm using Arsunt's TRIII patch and it's very good!

I'm having problems with 2 things the HUD is very smail and all the texts are super small.

The gates and fences in the game look more pixelated than before, which improves when I deactivate the bilinear filtering but causes the rest of the scene to look too pixelated. Has anybody this happened to anyone?

yes, this happened to me. it's the result of using a dedicated nVidia graphics card. the way you solve it is to use dgVoodoo, but bear in mind that this breaks the sunglasses (Detail Level) option in the ring menu, so you need to go to your TR3 (and TR3 Gold) install folder and change your gamma manually via the config.txt (you will also need it for TR5 if you want to use an XInput controller and play the game at an resolution higher than 640x480)

see TombHackR's post for more info on installing dgVoodoo
