Just read this on Cracked.

I've always wanted a survival game where you actually work to survive and even struggle. Say, the beginning of Fallout. You get kicked into a wasteland from the only thing you ever knew where you had almost no survival skills. Instead of the first thing you do being go forth and kill people, you attempt to find food and water without getting caught. You find a gun? Too bad, you have no idea how to use it unless you train with it, and by that I mean target practice. As you train your ability to use that weapon or item gets marginally better. You hide in the day and scavenge at night, until you can finally confront people.

Also, the world has its own ecosystem and does its own thing, kind of like Skyrim, but less scripted things. The end goal would probably have something to do with why you're in the wasteland in the first place, which is why this game is so hard for me to figure out. Like, you can't just go scavenge forever and eventually become Bear Grylls and that's the end, there has to be a driving plot that makes it vital to survive but also keeps you from just sitting on your ass trapping animals.

I'd love Treboot to be like this. :D

That's a nice concept, and I wouldn't mind if TR were like this by any means. But if I had to choose, I'd choose something centered a little less on surviving and struggling to survive and more on exploration. I think TR will manage to combine the two and still manage to be cohesive, though. (Or atleast I hope :pi:)

The main issue with this is that TR is hogged by such a gameplay restrictive plot all of the time, whereas in Fallout you can move at your own pace and initiate the adventure how you'd like (which I'd like in TR).

To me it wouldn't feel the same as Fallout, it would feel forced because the story would be forcing it upon you, so I think a key to having gameplay which makes you feel what is written above, is to provide an experience with lots of freedom and choice so that you can accidentally wander into the harder areas and get your ass kicked before the story takes you there.

The E3 judges week started earlier than last year, huh?

Wouldn't you all rather be surprised?
There are some games I wish I had never spoiled for myself.

What do you mean exactly? We don't know much about the game really. And they're certainly not going to spoil it.

_Awestruck_ 14-05-12 00:26

I actually share that sentiment. Assuming the game is on time, the silence might actually be a good thing. Maybe they're just going to let the players experience the game themselves when it comes out.

Lukass 14-05-12 00:28

I agree, I want a lot of surprises in the game, but they also need to show what they're selling.

larafan25 14-05-12 00:28

^^This is what I thought, but then they said something about lots of characters to reveal.

:/
