Burial inscription in Croft Manor

I've always wondered what was written in the inscription underneath the Croft Manor. It seems Latin mixed with English? Did they just put random words together or they mean something? Google translate wasn't really helpful...

Can you extract the texture so we can have a better look at the writings?

Also the last word is "Amen" so it makes me think that those might be some verses of the Bible.

I will try Ninja Ripper. Don't know if I'll succeed though because I will try this for the first time :p

EDIT: In the second image, I managed to find the name "Yekaterina Kulkoff" in the bottom.
It looks like Yekaterina is a family member or firiend of one of the developers. Here is the credits from GoL.

Another word I found was OBIIT which means "death" in Latin.

Found another name. Christopher Webb. He's an environment artist.
So I guess that the upper part has some staff names. I'm really curious what the bottom part means.
All I can see is "TORIS OVI OBIIT ANNO BEO VIES" but that hardly makes any sense. Google translate is talking about some "dead eggs" lmao :vlol::vlol:

I was able to extract the texture with TexMod. But as you said, it is just a few developer names and some latin. The resoution is 512x512 so this is as readible as possible.

^ Good job! :tmb:
So I guess we foud a new easter egg? Staff names in tombstones. Cool! :)

It looks like it's "Name Of Person" [Name] "Date Of Death" [day/month/year] probably "Name Of spouse or something?" [Name] and then probably "Rest In Peace, Amen" (I didn't google translate it I'm going off what was said and clues on the tombstone texture)

Tomb Raider sure likes to use Latin a lot

You're right!

The "full" translation of the right inscription:

Here lies (HIC IACET in Latin)
Christopher Webb
Death Date ??? (OVI OBIIT)
5 May 1716
and his (?) (ET DMI PETRI)
Yekaterina Kulkoff

Rest in Peace (IN PACE)
Amen.

Doesn't Croft Manor have a tombstone for Richard Croft? If I remember correctly it's where she presses the button in the cutscene, if so then the second to last part should read Amelia Croft (if it is spouse).

The names here are some of the developers' names as easter eggs so there is not much in-game canonical concern here. Also this tomb didn't belong Lara's father but it was her grandfather with the same name.

Btw: @CroftManiac05 how were you able to go to that cinematic area? I tried using underworld scu but wasn't able to find that particular location.

Those inscriptions are in the game, not the cutscene. They are located in the main area with the big statue.

The tombstone in the cutscene (with the RJC initials) has the left texture of those you ripped (which is basically the left inscription in the above image).
