That's when it really bothers me.

Although, some of the most beautiful games I've played have actually been Last Gen. I think realism is what people want. Although, pretty graphics don't make a good game.

Pretty graphics can add to a game, though. It can give better emphasis on atmosphere. Could you imagine the TReboot with PS2 Legend graphics? It wouldn't feel the same, the atmosphere would feel much different because everything around her looks different.

Indeed, Reboot even in alphha stage looked better than TRU, mainly because of it's realistic approach in design:).

I agree, but you can have a good game with good graphics. Actually those two run hand in hand :). Look at the Assassin's Creed franchise for example :).

It seems to me that TR has better graphics than AC.

Not that it means anything.

Games that have only recently been announced and are still handing out the first real info on the game? We have already had two rounds of that, so are not precisely starved for info. Waiting till E3 for the third round is hardly going to kill us. If Crystal Dynamics could have got things ready in time they would have given us something, we can see the plans were in place for some exclusive magazine articles, it just never worked out.

I could say that about some of the 8-bit games I was playing back in the 1980s. While technology advances and standards naturally climb, I'd rather Crystal rein in any urge to try and create 'videogame art'. I think visuals should be practical first and pretty second.

Agreed.

I never said you couldn't. They do but still the emphasis should be put on gameplay over graphics imo.

Even though, I don't think Assassins Creed is the best example :p

I think every aspect of a game is equally important so they should be worked on equally.

Hmm. Good point, I agree.

LOL, I was gonna say that too. Revelations took a step back with its visuals IMO. Although taking a step back isn't necessarily a bad thing, Revelations itself is a crap game as a whole, so having shoddier visuals just compounds matters.
