A couple of weeks after a purchase hardcore gamers are usually looking for something new to play, and especially as a Christmas purchase a game closer to Christmas has more chance. Hitman will not lose that many sales to CoD, it would probably lose hardly any to Halo 4 which is only on the Xbox 360 and a few weeks before Hitman is released. Hitman is hardly some brainless shooter/wartime romp, someone more interested in suspense, thinking and stealth will buy Hitman. Despite the fact most of the big name shooters with online modes get a bigger slice of the gaming market, not everyone is interested in playing that type of game. So the little fish turn out to be a different type of shooter or completely different type of game they can still get good opening sales if they are good enough..

Halo and CoD are the big ones. And most parents would buy CoD or Halo for they kids for christmas.
Good luck to get decent numbers out for TR.
