I was just thinking about a save system for future TR's - basically, TR1 style save crystals that don't disappear when you use them, so if you backtrack and whatever you can use them as many times as you like, and they could be scattered a bit more liberally than they were in TR1 (but nowhere near as many as there are checkpoints in Crystal's TR's). But that probably wouldn't work with the mostly linear TR9 gameplay style, where it has many gunfights; it could get tedious going through 3 gunfights without dying before the next save crystal.

Don't the campfires already work this way?

No. http://z1.ifrm.com/0/1/0/e47/e47.gif You got checkpoints pretty much every 4 and 3 quarter footsteps.

The campsites do work like that in TR9. They save every time you use one, even if you just go to the top menu and immediately exit. I'd often use them like save crystals myself.

The checkpoints were just added dumbing down-ness because you can't have people retracing more than two seconds of gameplay these days. Because everyone's apparently a massive lightweight.

Checkpoints are not campfires though. You are proposing removing checkpoints.

Honestly I just prefer to be able to save anywhere anytime.

Checkpoints somewhat remove the point of campfire saves...

I agree. And their frequency also removes the point of trying to play well.

Not as bad as PS2 TRU.

Open door.

*Checkpoint*

It closes behind you.

*Checkpoint*

Go down the corridor.

*Checkpoint*

...With no possible way to die in between.

Buzz Monkey may as well have just made a title screen and put it with the final FMV on the disc.

does anyone think that if they killed Reyes instead of Alex it would've been much more better ? I mean imagine Reyes crying and giving Alisha's photo to Lara saying : "give this to Alisha when you come back and tell her that I love her so much" ...and then dying :(
in this case we would really feel sorry for Reyes and even feel sorry for Alisha because she became and orphan .....TBH I never felt sorry for Alex :o

^ Exactly my opinion :p

I can't watch woman crying because of pain.

Not really. None of the supporting cast added anything or meant anything to me. The same could be said of the principle cast as well really.
