So Lara has coat of arms and I was wondering, she belong to a family of medieval knights or crusaders? Because a coat of arms is usually sign of nobility and in medieval times, it would be associated to a family of knights. What can we speculate about her ancestors past? Did they hold certain positions in medieval times?

Lara is from an aristocratic family so it's natural they have a Coat of Arms. As far as I know, this doesn't necessarily imply a connection to medieval knights or crusaders.

The only refernece to any royalty ever is that King George was the one who gave one of Lara's ancestors their title and the manor. That's part of the revised Legend bio I think.

Many families have a coat of arms. Mine has one. I think it’s just a thing European families did back then? It doesn’t relate so much to royalty as it does a way to distinguish families from others.

Yes, Lara Croft has always had an aristocratic background. That is one of the few things about her backstory that hasn't changed over the years. Her family isn't based on any real noble families, though, so unless they invent more backstory for her family and put it in the games, I don't think you'll ever learn more about it.

Not royalty but (at least back in the day) it would often be a sign of nobility. It certainly wasn't common for every random working class family in Europe to have a coat of arms.

Im not a fan of medieval stuff. I feel like the whole aesthetic is ugly. Sorry.
