Lara could climb up things, like a normal person does, or take the stairs.
|
I'd rather run and jump than free climb like in Assassin's Creed because running and jumping requires me to be so much more present and there is so much more movement involved. AKA platforming.
There's a difference between fun and unrelated to the game lol =/
Yes there is, you're right, but they're two completely different things. Something that doesn't fit in TR can be fun, and just not fit in TR, something can fit in TR and be fun. Platforming can be challenging and fun though. It just confuses me... This is a short and simple bit of gameplay, who would want this for TR, right? That's not Tomb Raider. Tomb Raider is balancing on sticks, and clinging to ledges, or at least it is now. If you can look at that platforming and pretend to see Lara, pretend we're in a tomb, and pretend it's far more complex with more platforms to jump to, you can see my point. Everything is so stationary in TR and even when it's moving Lara's magnetic (which they have now gotten rid of). I get that in TR you're doing a lot and this causes platforming to sink into the background and simply be the movement system, but imagine if we had to think this much about how and where we're moving as we're completing objectives. |
As true as that may be, nothing else in the game is expected to be that way, in fact we've pretty much lost all thought and expectation of crumbling platforms.
We have? Since when? I haven't. I'm expecting that a lot of platforms and buildings will crumble beneath our feet. Also, the awnings idea isn't very...good. I mean, awnings don't supply much of a bounce, they'd just tare or sink. |
The only problem with the previous title music is

Also, the awnings idea isn't very...good. I mean, awnings don't supply much of a bounce, they'd just tare or sink.
We have because we haven't had it. Platforming has been a snooze fest. Some ledges crumbled in TRL Ghana, and there were even some non-slow motion boulders falling towards us. But that's about it. Not to mention every trick used in platforming is used too little, it makes the gameplay feel short and shallow. Gurl...if we were standing on a cliff looking at an awning, about to jump off...I'd agree, it's a terrible idea and we'd probably get hurt. But it's a game. :/ |
But I thought you wanted her to bounce on awnings just for fun... :p
|
But I thought you wanted her to bounce on awnings just for fun... :p
Yeah, I do. But I don't want to jump onto an awning myself. What I meant is that the reason for awnings being a bad idea is only a reason for real life, not for a game in which anything is possible. What platforming does everyone else want? And why? :/ I wonder why TR is not on this list... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q0dUpJUbBRM&feature=related and as I hear the reasons for why this guy likes platforming games, and see how high Jack and Daxter: Precursor Legacy placed, it makes me think that TR being an open hub exploration-based game with steering in mid air and platforms, it could truly be an enjoyable platforming game. It could have the best platforming in the entire series solely for not being ledge-based and reality-based (longer and bigger jumps). |
I have to agree. Platforming in tomb raider has rather boring here lately. Even with the multiple options...there's no movement or danger.
More crumbling bits of ruin would be nice. And some platforming that requires timing and thought like those crazy rooms in Anniversary Egypt or Atlantis...those were intense. I know some hated them but I really loved them. There is a sense of danger and movement...unlike Underworld where you're basically just moving through the environment from point A to B. Really boring. |

I wonder if they will release the box art and collectorīs edition specifics during E3 wave of news. It would be about the right time...

How do you work that out. They do not usually announce such things at E3 for any other Tomb Raider game, why would we suddenly get it for this one? Not saying they would not, but there would be no reason to expect them to be. TRU actually had the box art ready before E3, although it was near the end of June 2008, rather than the start when the cover art was first seen. Any info on special editions seems to be released almost at the last minute, I am not expecting to see it any where near June. |
@TippingWater she looks hella retarded :vlol:

Thatīs why the official cover should be on the online stores by that time. Plus everyone who purchase the game before its release should have the possibility to choose either classic version or special. :( Take AC3 as an example. We know descriptions about all 3 editions and it will be out most likely around the same time as TR. |
I just hope theres no excessive Swearing or Blood and Gore, because i just heard about Far Cry 3 and saw a Gameplay Video of it where the Guy just wont stop F-ing swearing every F-ing word that comes from his F-ing mouth and that just F-ing turns my Excitement to the F-ing Game down.
You can make a great Game with beautiful environments, but you dont have to swear your head off about it. |
Are people that offended by swearing? :o
