I have decided to post a thread with the link to my beta StrPix update so folks no longer need to access it via my profile.

Thanks to TurboPascal for generously releasing the source code.

Note that it's only a beta version because it hasn't been thoroughly tested and also that the .obj import is experimental and tends to crash often.

Can use this thread to post bugs but I may not be able to fix them!

Warning: Wads saved with it have not been thoroughly tested to make sure they are ok and convert ok so make sure you have backups of all your wads.
Also not all functionality has been tested thoroughly.

Not mentioned in the readme:
1) vertex and poly limit for meshes is now 1500.
2) opens version 130 wads

Laras Boyfr. had a bug where the textures would not display in the 3D viewport when Textured mode was selected. I don't why this happens so if it happens to you, sorry, I cannot help.

Yes, very easy if you want to turn an object shine with one click or just a couple of clicks without having to retexture.
Also very usefull in finding shiny textures on objects.
There's a similar feature for transparant textures. :D

Great update to this essential tool, Sapper!
But what I do not understand is why, when you have already enhanced the vertex and polygon limits, you stuck on 1500? Currently some builders are building with 3000 and more vertex and polys per mesh. This same comment applies also for your version of PixStr and your EditWad.

If I increase the limits greatly the program will use a lot more memory.

TurboPascal uses static arrays in StrPix which means the program reserves a lot of memory that may never be used.

StrPix allocates memory for 1000 meshes. Each mesh reserves memory for 1500 vertices, 1500 polygons.

Changing the program to use dynamic arrays slowed the program too much.

I also thought that meshes with high vertex and poly counts would be impractical to texture and it would be best to UV map these meshes and use meta2tr.

I think the limit for editwad is 8192 vertices and polys. I used meta2tr's info to set the limit.

Also about my StrPix update I don't think I mentioned in the readme that I changed the way the dimensions of the mesh are reported in the statusbar. They are in TR units. In the old StrPix they were in TR units divided by 100.
