I'm confused. Where does he say TRF in that video clip? How does this link to the forum? But if he IS talking about TRF, yes there's plenty of arguing just like any fans, but I've not seen any homophobic or fatphobic comments especially to the extreme he's suggesting?

There were plenty of transphobic coments by certain user (I think I'm remembering the name but I'm not sure so I won't be pointing fingers), so what he's saying might be true.

I think I know who you are referring to and this person was immediately suspended. I called them out publicly on their conduct.

We did receive an email from Ed in November 2020 asking to deactivate his account and citing hostility on the forum as the reason. I looked into his claims and I did find some very harsh comments about the game so I can certainly understand why he wouldn't want to participate here. However there was no mention of us tolerating homophobic comments in his email and this very suggestion is unfathomable to me since we are predominantly LGBT. :confused: If these comments do exist I really would appreciate assistance in finding them.

Okay I saw the stream and it is indeed about TRF.

So perhaps he mainly left because of the response to Tomb Raider Reloaded and didn't want to say that on stream and gave those reasons instead. He left in November and it was revealed on the 23rd. But as you say, we're mainly LGBT, so TRF as a whole isn't homophobic/transphobic etc... at all. There might be an individual or two, but these are usually dealt with. But yes he's right with fans going at each other, but it's usually a handful and not the whole forum, but I do think it's gotten better more recently especially. hmm

I was gonna say if he left due to hostility I completely understand where he’s coming from.

We have a few bad apples on both sides that just wind each other up and make it almost insufferable to have a conversation.

As someone who has tried the game and didn't think a great deal of it, I'll be the first to hold up my hands and say that I have said some harsh things about it. Perhaps some of my comments were stronger than I had intended, and if something I have said had contributed to his desire to leave the community, I apologise. That doesn't change how I feel about the game, but if others feel my posts have been too harsh and have been offensive, please feel free to report them as violating the T&C, and another member of the team will be sure to moderate me.

I only visit the classics, LAU and the mobile sections of the forums and I have not seen any of said behaviour in those corners of the forum.
I stay away from the reboot section cause those can get very heated so it might have happened there idk.

Honestly same. Although my comments were mostly directed at Square and not the devs. I think most of the bad comments about the game were due to its rather unfortunate advertising. It was like the 14th/15th anniversary (?) and we've got that cute trailer showing 3D cartoon characters in TR1 environments and it really hyped people up for some remake or remaster, all that while TRAE story was fresh again thanks to Ash. And then we've got actual gameplay video and it turned out to be just an arcade shooter game for mobiles, which was quickly compared to Diablo Immortal drama. It was just a really bad timing.

Really glad this could be clarified and settled as Ed is a good guy who I think wants to help and interact positively with all of us. I'm not as active here these days and yes, TRF has its challenges with over-zealous fans who are very possessive over their own view of what TR ought to be, but it has always been a safe space for those across the sexuality spectrum and diverse identities. As someone who is straight, I don't think I would be half as open minded and educated as I am now about the LGBTQIA community if it wasn't for my membership here which led to forming lifelong friendships with those who are part of it. Just my two cents. I know how much work goes into keeping this place running from day to day. The amount of stuff that gets prevented or nipped in the bud far outweighs what slips through net and what does slip through, is dealt with if reports are made. When it comes to arguments around TR, that's a harder field to moderate but hate speech has no place here and never will.

I'm really not active on here anymore and most of the threads I visit don't have any particular hateful comments however, it happened several times now that I go e.g. into the Future of TR section and just any random thread that is being spammed - there are always the same users having the same weird discussions that end up in the same insult/shade throwing convos no one needs. And the longer I find myself trying to become more active here again, the more I start feeling angry towards the things people say here and how invested into little random BS arguments they are - that's why I distanced myself and this is probably why others distance themselves.

^That's why I never check the reboot trilogy section of the forums, especially the Future section. A few times that I did, it was full of spam that usually revolves around the same people being shady and lowkey toxic towards one another and especially people who don't share their point of view about literally anything random.

It’s very clear he deleted it due to the backlash of Reloaded and then created this weird lie to slander TRF, and when called out on it, he backtracked.

Thanks for sharing. I agree with him, but being 100%, I find more reasonable the fact he left because the vast majority absolutely dislike the game he's been working on. I do understand him and it must be very frustrating, but It is not constructive. After all, the game (IMO) is still something I wouldn't ever touch, and instead of having Q&A on why without even playing it people is not interested or something like that (because for some reason this forum is a desert when it comes to people working directly with the franchise even though is the most active and passionate, even with the bad things) just to leave for not being part of something that is minority here.

So, he seems a cool guy and I join his dislike towards those attitudes, but it would be amazing to have an insight on his work and we could learn as a community as he could as developer. I'd love to ask him personally a few questions.

I've certain been thrown many fatphobic comments directed at me personally from one particular member on this website. I can vouch for nothing really being done about it or this particular person. They never lost their posting privilege over those types of comments that's for sure.

Homophobia I've never seen, nor have I seen any transphobia either.

To be fair, a lot of TRF animosity has been spilling over onto Twitter lately, and being that Ed (who we as a community do not deserve :p) is primarily interacting with fans on Twitter, I can see why he would opt to disengage from TRF, on the basis of mainly interpersonal drama that he's witnessing the fallout of, over there.

(it doesn't help that he was readily picked up by the elitist clique as well, who I'm aware aren't very supportive of TRF as a platform either, for various reasons - you'll find them mostly on Twitter or Tumblr after all)

That's completely aside from all of us tearing Reloaded apart, of course. That would turn me off too, if I was in his shoes, because what we've had to say about it has been everything but productive...

If you’re putting out work, you have to take criticism as horrible as it is, it’s part of the package. The Tomb Raider fandom, especially on here can be very vocal about what they like/dislike. Pretty sure someone from Square could have warned him about how vocal certain members can be.

There’s not really any other way to phrase it. You can always say “don’t make clones of other games” but Square must be called out for how lazy and money hungry they are.

I get wanting to plug the hole Avengers made when it crashed and burned, but that hole can easily be filled by announcing a new TR game and marketing it very well and they should be doing it now.

There is no better time to start marketing than the start of the year before a big anniversary. If they do the marketing properly, they can really boost sales by driving home that this is the TR that made the whole quarter of a century worth it. Not many game series get to say that, they should be using it to their advantage.

Exactly this. We are the consumers here, we're the target audience, and we're saying loud and clear this is not what we want from this franchise. It might sound harsh but that's how it is, ignoring the feedback from the intended audience isn't going to make it any less harsh. You might still get the casual mobile gaming audience trying it out but the whole point of making a licensed mobile game is to capture some of that franchises audience in the process. Relic Run did it, Go did it, we accepted those so we're not against the idea of it, but this type of game isn't what we want to see from TR. That's all there is to it.

I wouldn’t describe this forum as transphobic, fatphobic (???) or homophobic. Never seen such comments here, but maybe they always get removed by the mods before I got the chance to see them? Not sure about that, but I highly doubt that’s the case since we have many members here who are openly gay or trans (don’t know about fat) and still stick around. Couldn’t be that bad then, could it? I therefore get the feeling that it was actually about the terrible reception of the game here. Which is completely understandable, so why pull the ‘whatever-phobic’ card? :facepalm:

My APK version must be outdated, almost everything just has code name and I never encountered any comprehensible descriptions. :o

Never had that with my game, must be an issue during installation or phone version? I think there's only one version of the game out there xD
Scion Base - Increase attack against Flying enemies (+2 per level up)
Whale Head - Recover Extra health when using Heal from Angel (+1% per level up)
Whale Body - Adds healing to levelling up during runs (+2 per level up)
Whale Flukes - Increases attack against Melee (+2 per level up)
Keto Hull - Revives with Extra Max Health (+2 per level up)

I didn't list the others cause you can't obtain them. Keto Hull is odd though cause that one you can pick up over and over again in level 4 and once you do, it automatically levels it up. And I also think (needs further testing) that it gives you +2% HP per level up, not just +2 HP.

Do you have any idea how crafting works?

When using two of the same items and a blueprint there is a noticeable jump in that items power.

Would that jump be bigger if I combine 3 of that item.

I currently have 2 dual pistols and a blueprint. If a third pistol will give me a better combination I am willing to wait.

From what I understand, if you combine two of the same items of the same rarity with a crafting item of the same rarity (for example two common (white) shotguns + a common (white) crafting item = uncommon (green) shotgun) you get the same item with an increased rarity.

I don't think you can combine 4 items. It has to be two of the same with a crafting item.

I must reinstall better the game then, haha.

Finally managed to beat the last boss.

The Chakram, a stun shot powerup, a cold shot powerup, and 2 multishot powerups make the boss move very little and if you stay at the bottom of the screen and manage to avoid the projectiles then the boss can be beaten. It can come at you and you may need to move to a different side. It was no accident however that when I beat it, it did not manage to charge me.

I beat it once before but one of the projectiles hit me after and I died.

Mind you I also had 2 major and 2 minor damage boosts and 393 attack so it took less time.

when is this officially released

Hopefully never. What a mess.

Would rather not have this stain be part of the TR franchise.
